Review:
Rana Oceanus has left her husband and bought a run down house by the sea to find answers to some questions and hide a secret she's afraid to share. She determines to learn metal-crafting and make her own decisions away from an overprotective husband. It doesn't help that he is a God and can control all kinds of magic. Titus doesn't understand what is wrong and tries to get her back. This was a fun book with lots of characters from other books in the series popping in and out.

Review: New Orleans has always been known for its supernatural mystique. In The Veil by Chloe Neill, this is reality. New Orleans is a war-torn city divided by the humans inhabiting the city we know and others with supernatural abilities imprisoned into what is referred to as the District. Claire Connolly is a sensitive and must keep this secret if she is to keep from being banished to the District otherwise known to its’ supernatural inhabitants as Devils Isle. The two areas are separated by a magical veil. Claire meets Liam Quinn, a bounty hunter, and together they seek to discover and stop what threatens all of New Orleans.
This book kept a steady pace and held my interest. I am not sure if I will continue with the series.

Review:
This was a gory read. I found the premise fun and plot was satisfactory. But there were some questionable descriptions that needed some editing and basic research.
What are cauliflower eyes? "I looked into his cauliflower eyes." Were they wrinkled up, white eyeballs?!
She finds the Library - "At least a thousand books. Two floors of wall-to-wall books ." Really? 1000 books would fill, at most 34 shelves. At 10 foot ceilings in a 1 floor room, that would be FOUR units. Hardly enough to go wall-to-wall much less go up 2 stories. Let's do some research here!!
There are other things that threw me off but I'll leave it at that.

That's so funny, about the books. I've got more than that here at home (in physical books) and no I don't consider it the library.

I have over 3000 in my house. About 400 in the living room, 200 in my office and the rest on shelves in the basement. Even that many all put on equal shelving units would not fill a one story room wall-to-wall, much less a second floor. A book lined room is a lot of books!
I wonder how many people even caught that.

My paperback shelf is only a fairly new edition to GR, and I've got a lot that aren't listed . Sigh, more work for me. I didn't realise how many aren't listed there yet.
All my bookcases are either double or triple shelved. 2 in the study + floating shelves on 3 walls. 1 in the family rm & 1 in Bdrm 2, the bed in Bdrm 3 lifts up & it is packed with books also.
And yep, I keep buying books, though mostly kindles these days as they take up less room. :D

Review:
When Evie Meade's husband dies, besides grieving she finds his finances were a mess and her house is in jeopardy. Among his papers she finds documents for a loan that if not repaid gives her husband a hotel that was designated as collateral. Her sister, Margot comes from LA to offer support. Since all the mess including the contract will take time, the sisters decide to visit the remote island hotel as a weekend getaway to scope it out, knowing it probably won't amount to anything since it's likely the loan was paid back. But things are weird at the hotel and then a murder occurs. Generally a good set up, but this just didn't work for me. None of the characters were likeable, including the 2 sisters. I really didn't care if she would get the hotel or if her finances would be salvaged or if they figured out the mystery (which was pretty obvious).

Review: Final Heir by Faith Hunter
I could not get into this book. It did not hold my attention except for the most inquisitive scenes (only a few and then the final). I had a difficult time keeping up with the characters and dialog for most of the book. The scene was in New Orleans, Louisiana and somehow a vampire hunter became the vampire queen??? I would need to read it again to figure out how that happened, but I don’t think I will. I was greatly disappointed as this series is well liked by so many.

Review: Definitely one of my favorites of the series. I don't care how much trouble these two get into they always manage to have each other's back and oh how their love makes them strong is so sweet. I'm not sure how Kate can deal with her father and deal with all the other things that keeps popping up and Not be afraid of the future. It's definitely going to be a tough time for her and her family

Review: Alex was definitely a different witch but I did enjoy her craft. She is caught in some weird magic and of course a jerk dad and her sister isn't exactly nice. I didn't particularly like her either. I like that Alex has some power to her even though she doesn't realize it. I definitely want to continue this series to see how much she gets into.
