Saar The Book owl | 728 comments I've read one book of David Duchovny (about a cow, but I forgot about the title) and it was hilarious!

It's so unfair. Just because we were hoarding all of the captains, or winning by a landslide, or having all of the troublemakers together... meh

But having all of the troublemakers in one place should be a good thing, no? Then they can just cordon us off and put up signs like "beware" and "here be dragons" to stop us corrupting poor innocents? :D

message 154: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1982 comments Is "here be dragons" supposed to be a deterrent? Cause frankly that just sounds like an invitation to me.

message 155: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4261 comments I don't think they will ever let Jenny, Judith, and me on the same team again but I think Jenny and I were mostly new so no one knew better yet.

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Lexi wrote: "I but I think Jenny and I were mostly new so no one knew better yet."

Truer words never been spoken.

I think that Jenny and Judith together are like a tsunami that sweeps over any obstacle.

Add a Sammy or a Lexi, or worse, both, and the world ceases to exist.

And now, I regret even more not having done that when I had the chance! But noooooo, I had to be responsible and keep teams balanced numbers wise... LOL

We did, you two were most helpful in me securing back to back wins for me with TT.

Hazza!

Which is precisely how we filter the trouble causers from the innocents :D :D :D

message 161: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8058 comments There are times that I wish I lived in the UK. I just read about the RSC putting on a new play based on Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell , making today one of those times.
Please tell me that one of you that lives near London is going to go to this and tell me about it!!!!!!!

Well as long as I get to play with the dragons. I guess I can give up my innocent face. :D Cause I don't cause trouble, no not me, not ever, never ever ever.

I have never been on a team with Sammy I don't think.

message 173: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I already had to fight for the privilege to be on her team with E, and now with Eni, and I'm pretty sure one of these days Mel will join the We want Sammy on our team group.

Uhmmm, Maybe we should all partner up? *giggles* Eni and I are not heavy hitters when it comes to books, so, I think it is a kind of balanced deal... Now, on the troublemaker scale... we better not look at that.

message 174: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8362 comments I have been on Eni's/Sammy's team in Wheel 6, but not in TT, so I hope I get the privilege this time. (giggles)

But never with you, Sonia. ;)

Melindam | 8362 comments Yes. :))

message 177: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13006 comments Hey, you forget Sonia, I recently got to play on a team with both you and E! And also Karen, which probably says much about how much trouble we are, in that we need double mod supervision! ;)

Maybe the powers that be are labouring under the assumption that Lexi is an innocent and don't want to risk corrupting her?

message 178: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 7447 comments Mod
Nope this Lexi is on my team! Get your own Lexi :P

message 179: by Sonia (last edited Apr 12, 2023 08:40AM) (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Aha! I knew I had played in Lexi sometimes... it was the wheels that shall not be named, since they clearly confused the two sisters and Sammy ended up being on Eni's team.

I got to play with Judith and Lexi instead. it was the only reason I behaved, otherwise I would throw the mother of all hissy fits. Because they not only took away my Sammy, they also stole Claire from me. I was a bit upset with it.

a itsy bitsy tiny bit. And my memory is legendary, so I will remember that for a long long time...

You know, I thought the same thing... and then I was told that it was E's turn to play with you. Can't remember what the justification for Karen being there was. I just assumed they both loved to play with me and were missing me lots.

*giggles*

Janeylou | 1134 comments Can someone tell me , are there tasks / themes that the books have to fit into.
Trying to sort out my total books as have lots of other challenges on as well

message 188: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10118 comments Mod
Hi Janeylou, the core of TT is to read anything you want and it's going to be usable.
The limits are page count requirement of 100 pages, and for certain genres, a wordcount of 30,000. If your reading includes a lot of poetry or manga it's likely that those books WON'T work.

While there might be mini challenges, these are entirely optional and usually all for wide-ranging reading.

Neither of those I was a part of ;-)
Planning or playing hehe.
Though the fallout for Cutthroat was interesting to follow ;-)

message 190: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I don't think any of the mods played Cutthroat... the premise was

"The mods are out for blood"

No idea who the evil mind was behind that promo line(yep, wrote that with a straight face and everything), but the challenge idea was all Kelly's. Without her coding skills it wouldn't be possible anyway.

Im thinking the same , dont go over 350 pgs very often

message 199: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10118 comments Mod
I wouldn't worry too much about the chunky book concern. In general there are enough competitive people that those long books will be read!
Just in case, the June BOM nomination threads are still open, with the themed one being "longest".... hunt them out and add a 600+ pager on it to doubly encourage the competitive souls to read long ones!
