PtP - Read 'Em and Sleep (3)

2. Deep Sleeper - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)
3. Name your team. Using this round's theme, come up with a fun name. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)
Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 29 March
4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2. (It will also help with one of the categories in this round!)
5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!
* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.
You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.
I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.
Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.
6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation, etc.
7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.
8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.
9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)
10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A/Announcement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.
The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week Option 2 has altered and I will be allocating each team another team from which their book selection must be chosen :)

For selection post Option 1 you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please note which qualifying bookshelf/list you are using or the tags that justifies that it works.
If the theme is based off the bookcover, post the cover. If there is a letter count in the title, publication date etc, please note these details.
For selection post Option 2 you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.
For selection post Option 3 you must have:
Week #
PASS
For the completion post you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review
Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.
If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.
IF YOU NEED TO CORRECT A POST FOR MISSING INFORMATION or because the didn't qualify etc, please REPOST this information in a NEW post. I don't want to have to keep going backwards in the thread.

In the meantime, for those that don't know me from around GR, I am married with 2 grown boys and 2 fur babies. I live in Brownsburg, Indiana which is a suburb of Indianapolis.. all of which is to say I live in the midwest.
I read romance almost exclusively (hence being in this group) but have been known to take on almost anything for a challenge - though it doesn't always go down easily. I love romantic suspense and sports romances the best, I think. And paranormal. Oh gosh, well can't forget good ol' contemporary either. And my guilty pleasure is a big juicy Kristen Ashley book!

I'm married, have 4 kids, and am a Mimi to 2. I also have 2 fur babies. I live in North Alabama.
I love romance and all of it' many tropes. I love more of the dark stuff, but also like the lighter stuff to balance it. I read historical, paranormal, M/M, fantasy, suspense, etc...
I suck at names but I'll see if I can think of some

I'm Sassafrass and I love PtP. I"ve done every round since we started oh so many years ago. It's so fun. Welcome Jamie! I hope you enjoy this round.
I listen on audiobooks almost exclusively now. I've got so much going on that I don't have time usually to sit and read so audiobooks have saved me. Romance is still my favorite and I'll pretty any romance. I'll do other genres too but that is very sporadic.
As far as team names I was thinking Read 'Em and Sleep but that's all I got at this point. I'm open to anything for team names.

I’m Kate and this is my first time playing pass the parcel but I’m excited and looking forward to all the fun to be had.
I love all things romance and not sure I have a favourite trope because it seems that almost every book I read I find new things and tropes I adore. I’ve been on a bit of a historical romance trip lately but have a soft spot for paranormal and contemporary too.
I’m from Queensland, Australia and love to travel but never been to Indiana or Arizona.
I’m also open to any team names. I do like Sassafrass’ suggestion for Read ‘Em and Sleep :)

I'm Shelby, I'm out in Los Angeles so typically well behind everyone else time wise. I will pretty much read anything, but any sub genre of romance always works for me. I have love a good paranormal or fantasy though.
I work in the film industry so I also bartend and thus my schedule can be a bit all over the map. But I'm super excited to play a round with you all.
I also do love Sass's recommendation for the name. Read 'Em and Sleep is great.

Review: I really loved this book. Victoria and Alexander had such a great story.
You could tell these two had chemistry from the beginning. It was a little slow-burny for me at first, but it picked up really fast. Victoria is the perfect match for Alexander. She gives it right back to him and it was great. She had me laughing quite a bit in the book.
Alexander I really enjoyed as well. He is definitely a workaholic, but it was so nice to see him slowly start to realize the benefits of taking a break.
These two were on fire and I was rooting for them the whole book. I was sad to see it end. Hopefully, we get to see more of them in the next book!

This was great. I love this family. I thought it was just slightly beyond my ability to believe that the family would take in a former woman of ill repute, but I loved the story nonetheless.
Billy had a spine of steel and she didn't make apologies for who she was and the things she had to do to survive and I admired that. Drew needed to get his head out of his you-know-what for a good portion of the book but I'm glad he did.
It was nice seeing Logan and Mariah and Mama Alanza. It's such a great family, I can't wait to see what's going to happen with Noah and his ship.
I think that this story is amazing because not only is it an American historical but it brings the story of Black and Hispanic families to life as well during that time. It's something that I hadn't read before and I'm interested in finding more stories like this once I finish this series.

That's one of the things that makes this challenge so fun. It's easy until it isn't!

Also silly question but what does MPG Historical mean?

Also silly question but what does MPG Historical mean?"
MPG stands for Main Page Genre. So when you look at a books page towards the top there's a section that says Genre's anything that shows up in that section including anything under the more, is considered MPG. Once you click the "show all" those are no longer considered MPG, but listed as tags.
So Kate for your selection the MPG's would be Historical Romance, Romance, & Fiction.
For my selection they would be Romantic Suspense, Romance, Contemporary Romance, Suspense, Contemporary, Mystery, Adult, Action, Crime, & Thriller.
Does that help?
So when a category option lists MPG______ it would mean that that genre needs to be on the book page, so in this case that would be Historical. So my book doesn't fit under this option so I chose to read under the Author option.

Also silly question but what does MPG Historical mean?"
No worries Kate! I know sometimes it takes me a few days to find a book too! I just wanted to make sure you were good with everything since this is your first time playing.
@Shelby, thanks for explaining MPG… I might have to copy that for future use!!

Let me know if I missed a post!

I couldn't wait to dive into this book after the ending of the second one. Noah intrigued me because I really didn't feel like I knew him as well as the other brothers. And there was a definite reason for that.
I was really intrigued by Pilar's character. I love how Beverly Jenkins made of the heroines in this series so strong, including Alanza. Pilar was no exception. She was definitely unconventional but I loved the way that she and Noah connected.
I wish we got a longer epilogue to see more into the future for the family but I guess I'll just have to use my own imagination.
Things that happened to Noah were horrible. But I knew not dealing with them was going to come back to bite him in the butt.
But, it was nice that everyone got their HEA. It was a bit sad coming to the end of the series but enjoyed all three of the books.
I will definitely be making it a priority to read more of this author's work!

Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare

Read: (4/17)
Rating: ★★★★★
This is my favorite book in the series so far. I really enjoyed this one. Sophie is great and I appreciated she wasn't out pushing herself into danger just for a story. She found herself wrapped up in something that put her into danger, but it wasn't any of her own doing. Of course running into her childhood crush after all this time is the last thing she expected, or maybe not the last thing considering finding him in prison for murder might top that.
The connection between Sophie and Marc was lovely. You could feel both of them truly cared and it was something that had stuck with them all these years. Marc is a dedicated brother and you knew there had to be some sort of twist that was going to be revealed to exonerate him. Together these two are a force as they work to figure out exactly what all was going on and had both of them hiding from authority to save their lives.
Loved this book so much and loved Tessa and Julian in this one too.

Review:

I thought this book was adorable. Greer Carson is a wealthy American looking for a titled lady for a wife. Beatrice is a woman who spends her days making toffee and snarking at customers. But a deal is made where they both help the other navigate a London season. Hijinks ensue. It was a pleasure following along their adventures amongst the ton and watching as they got to know each other better. I haven’t read a lot of grumpy/sunshine romances where the leading lady is the more standoffish of the pair and it was a nice change of pace. It’s a sweet story (and not just for all the candy talk) and there was enough going on to keep me interested. I loved the supporting cast and will be reading others in the series. But I also loved the tension of the entire story with the reader knowing Greer and Beatrice can’t be together but feeling the sparks with every interaction.

Forgiven: Con by Sloane Kennedy

Read: (4/9)
Rating: ★★★★½
This novel was surprisingly not as dark and intense as others in this series. While both Con and Micah have trauma's in their past that they have to deal with, and this story does still try to rip your heart out, getting Micah out of the horrendous situation he and niece and nephew are in happens really rather quickly. Most of this story is really the story of Con and Micah helping each other to heal and to find the joy in the relationship they can have together.
There's a lot of history these two have to get past before they can truly trust each other. While they are essentially strangers, one moment in the past changed both their lives. Micah still has a lot of rage and blame he attaches to Con because of it, and Con still has a lot of slightly unjustified guilt for everything that happened as well. But getting Micah and his niece and nephew out from under their horrible step-father and drug addicted mother gives them the space to figure things out and see the potential for a brighter future.
I still don't love age gaps, but somehow Sloane Kennedy always manages to sell me on the relationships despite it all. Con and Micah work together. And I was cheering for them from the start.

Week #2
Task: Read the third book in a series OR any book from a trilogy.

[*book:Broken Love Story|39851931]
Rating: 5 ★★★★★
Review: What a great way to end this series! This story is about two broken people who find healing, comfort and love with one another. This story had me all in my emotions.
I loved Blake. He's such a good brother and just a great human being. I loved that he not only comforted his sister, Hailey, but he also made an effort to comfort Samantha. He could see she needed someone.
Samantha had me all over the place with my emotions. I was so angry for her. Her in-laws are just absolutely horrible people. I had tears for her and her children. But I smiled for her and her kids and the happiness they found with Blake and his family. After everything they went through they deserved that.
But what had me crying my eyes out was the ending with Hailey and Samantha. These two women are such amazing human beings who have overcome such adversity. It was so refreshing. We need more human beings like this in our world today.
If you haven't read this trilogy, you should.
