If you have your list on spoiler, it is not my fault if I pick up the wrong number 😜🤣😂

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12568 comments Tom Welcomes you to 2nd Class, Miss Theresa. He snuck me a decaf tea I have never tired before STASH, as he knows I don't really care for decaf anything. I tell you their Lemon Ginger decaf is like no other I have ever tasted (been sipping it in the evenings trying to get through this cold, received as an x mas present). If the decaf is this good I am going to have to try their regular.

Jeesh, always a special JoAnne Rule!

After I read my #44 book, I will just put the past behind a spoiler. 😝

Those teas are all excellent! A client introduced me to them.

Yes! Sorry, I didn't pick up on that. Your special advantage is a 4 dice roll to be taken when you wish. Just let me know.

Theresa | 15509 comments Wow, I get caught up in work and what happens? JoAnne finally leaves the Baggage Car, Amy slips into the First Class Cafe, and Tien! She's in the Royal Coach heading for the Locomotive and Porter Level!

Tien will have a chance for a good gossip with Hannah who is rapidly approaching promotion to Engineer II and - soon - KateNZ from Porter to Engineer I - assuming Kate hustles from Private Parlor Car.

Enjoy all the tea services ... but be careful! The 'tea' in the cup may not always be ummm tea?! Think hot toddies masquerading as tea. 🫖🫖🫖🫖

Amy | 12913 comments Amy hasn't been able to read for three days!!!! The book is great, I am just underwater. Slammed. Stuck in Hebrew, Taxes, New Referrals, Invitations, Colleges, Notes - about to leave on Thursday for a nine day in and out three school college tour, and we haven't even heard from the last and most important one yet. I would rather leave with the taxes done. Because I run my own business, it takes me about ten hours every year to prep my taxes for the accountant. I am overrun with new patients. I'll be lucky if I get to my book. I just want to read 50 or so more pages so I can ask for a next roll. We will see how far I get tonight.

Know the feeling, dear Amy. Took me 2 weeks to read Hamnet instead of 2 or 3 days as it should. Sending hugs. Look at it this way - you are in the reasonably comfy Gnarly-free First Class Cafe with endless refills and a snack bar manned by a handsome charmer in a tux.

Geographically, where is the college tour taking you?

message 172: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12568 comments Well, I may have left the baggage, but I am in 2nd class for awhile. Someone had my book out, so I just got it this week, I raced through the first half so I could get my next roll...and lol and behold-my new book is taken by someone, AGAIN! Who on this train is sneaking in and out of Clarkston and getting my books???? It is insane! These are not new books either!

message 173: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12913 comments Joanne, I have alerted Holly, our mobile librarian and she is working on it. She has been busy visiting Little Italy and was off her duties for a while, but she is tracking down the book for you.

message 174: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12913 comments Meanwhile, Amy Needs A Roll Please!!!!

I can order or find the next Subdue book if I know what it is.

Theresa, we are headed tomorrow night for Newark Delaware, with a tour 9AM Friday, and a flight back Friday night. Shain did not love Delaware the last time we saw it, but we do not yet know what our options will be.

I have to accomplish the near impossible on Saturday, and on Sunday we leave for Indiana (Bloomington). Arriving home Tuesday night. So I have packed my patients into three and a half days this week, and two and a half next week. Next Friday afternoon we leave for Syracuse (1st choice), and our tour is Next Saturday. I assume we will be hearing about whether or not he gets into Syracuse either on the drive there or when we are actually on the campus. But - he does not want to feel forced to love Indiana. And even if he chose Delaware or Indiana over Syracuse, I would want him to feel like he chose it and wasn't "forced" to choose. But he has been 90-95% Syracuse the entire time. He sees himself there. Maryland only beat out Syracuse by a hair, and UCONN was the third choice. But here we are.... Final three. He would like to see himself committing somewhere in the week of 3/27. And that is the likely scenario. Wish us luck and pray for orange.

Anita - would have loved to have caught up with you in Maryland......

I know many whose kids went to Indiana and loved it, did well too. I went to Syracuse Law, my brother as an undergrad Syracuse College of Forestry - he became a landscape architect. A friend, tv news reporter Roger Clark, did undergrad at the Newhouse School there. As I recall frat and sorority life is huge for undergrads and their social lives. The campus is lovely, Syracuse itself is not. Sports especially basketball dictates much.

Just take this all one day at a time.

message 180: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12913 comments Theresa, you are so on the spot. Everyone loves Indiana. Shain will too, but I know his heart is in Syracuse. He wants the Sports Management Program out there, and he is all about the basketball. Truth is, he is split between Sports and Law. He's also a huge law and history guy.

Meanwhile, guilty as charged, I did not read about your recent successes in the kaffeklatch. I glazed. But I want to tell you that I am proud of you. You are Superwoman, and a personal hero of mine. Your clients are lucky and blessed and so are we.

So I had a one hour call with a patient of mine, during which I checked out everyone's gameboards. I have some good choices for the Wicked 11 Roll, and some of these books are on multiple boards, none of them are on my own. I got some choices here. If Friendship Wins, then my Friendship book is on Joi's and Diana's shelf. If it doesn't, I still have plenty to choose from and a running list for the next time the 11 appears.

Thanks, Anita. This roll takes me off the board, but as I rolled a 6-5 in the last two rolls, I will read a book from someone else’s board before posting my next board.

I’d just like to check something before I do it wrong. At the top of the engineer tracking thread, you mention that we use the same books for round two. Do you want us to use the exact same board, or should we take out the books we read for this round and add, in my case, 12 replacement books at the end of the board? Or would you prefer us to repeat some of the remaining books on our list, so we have some books on there more than once, but we still only use the books that were on our list in engineer level round 1?

Well! I trust the butler and his staff greeted you and helped you settle in! Cocktails will be flowing and dinner should be served shortly.

message 193: by Joy D (new)

Joy D | 10073 comments Hannah, I had asked if we could use a new board and Anita said we could FWIW.

Theresa | 15509 comments HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Everyone on the Subdue Express is Irish on St. Patrick's Day, of course. Erin go Braugh, wear green, hug a leprechaun.

Here is your vintage pin to wear all day.

message 195: by Theresa (last edited Mar 16, 2023 05:20PM) (new)

Theresa | 15509 comments CGI Tom will be making his way back and forth through the train all day and evening on St. Patrick's Day, through every car multiple times.

From his rolling cart he will be serving hot and yummy overstuffed baked potatoes to one and all, as many as you desire. Here is a sample:

Why stuffed potatoes? We all know potatoes are the crop of Ireland.

Amy | 12913 comments I trust there will be an Irish mint coffee and/or cocktail?

message 197: by Anita (last edited Mar 16, 2023 06:16PM) (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Thank you for asking! To be honest, I was just trying to make it easier on you by saying you could use the same board, but I'm totally fine with you revamping the board completely. The main thing is that it should be in a new post.

I didn't think people would want to redo their board again, but it seems like there is an appetite for that, and I'm totally fine with it.

I modified the directions at the top of the engineer thread.

Everyone is free to contribute.

message 199: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12568 comments Cocktail list has been sent to Tom-

Guinness (Green if preferred)
Irish Mist
Irish Cream
Redbreat 27 yr. old Whiskey (sample only-nearly $700 a bottle)
A Fat Frog- Made with Wicked (WKD) Blue, Bacardi Orange, and Smirnoff Ice, the drink turns bright green.
Irish Breakfast Tea

If I missed anything there's still time to catch Tom before he heads to the Bottle Shop.
