Garry Disher is an author you can rely on to tell a good Aussie story without any g'days or howyagoinmates. His characters are just honest cops (or crooks!) and their people and places. I like Alan Auhl, a rebooted detective, with his power back on after being taken out of retirement to investigate cold cases Under the Cold Bright Lights.
