For those of you who enjoy historical fiction, I recommend The Painter's Daughters by Emily Howes. It is about the two daughters of the 18thC portrait painter, Thomas Gainsborough. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Two wonderful graphic novels, though each is quite different from the other. 1. Happy Endings by Lucie Bryon
A compilation of three witty "happy endings." Enjoyed this a lot!

2. God with Us: Bible Stories on the Road to Emmaus by Matt Mikalatos
Uses the biblical story of the journey to Emmaus to present some interesting correlations between the Old and New Testaments. A bit tricky for the target age group of middle-graders, but could work for older readers.

The One Before The One by Emma Cooper
A timeslip romance-mystery that sounded better in the blurb.

I have read and appreciatedA Kind of Spark
and this is my review:

Black Woods, Blue Sky by Eowyn Ivey
Loved this Alaskan literary fiction. Don't read it as a 'Beauty & the Beast' retelling though some blurbs have tagged it as such.

My review of The Whisperer's War by Jackie French
4 and a half stars
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Cobbler's Apprentice by Lynette Rees
It's so annoying when series books are marked as standalones! This historical fiction has a decent plot, but not knowing the background of the characters, I just couldn't get into it

After a lot of years, I have read again Excellent Women
this is my 4.5 review

I recently just finished Edge of Collapse Edge of Collapseby Kyla Stone. It's a seven book post-apocalyptic thriller series. I didn't think I would like it as I am not a fan of post-apocalyptic. stories but I thought I would give it a shot as several friends raved about it. Oh my goodness, I could not put it down! I was hooked from the very first page of the prequel. I recommend this series to anyone who loves a good thriller. It does deal with some pretty heavy stuff but it's a really clean series (no swearing).
My review of The Story of Arthur Truluv by Elizabeth Berg

The Legend of Uh by Aaron N. Hall
A great fantasy-adventure story for older teenagers.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A Dangerous Game by Mandy Robotham
Takes Harri Schroder's ahead from 'The Hidden Storyteller', but on the whole, this historical fiction fell a little short of my expectations.

The Woman with All the Answers by Linda Green
Ever wonder how Alexa works? Check out this book. ;) This would work better for middle-aged and above women.

Two lovely stories from Amazon Original's 'The Improbable Meet-Cute' series. These are the only two stories worth reading in the entire collection.1. Worst Wingman Ever by Abby Jimenez
Didn't expect this to be so emotional, but it suited my mood perfectly. My favourite of the series.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
2. The Exception to the Rule by author duo Christina Lauren
This was a bit too YA for my liking, but it was still quite good, especially as half of it is epistolary. Only one writing decision turned me off.

The BEST Aussie rural romance I have EVER read
A Snowy River Summer by Stella Quinn ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley
I am a bit of an outlier for this popular title. Perhaps I wanted too long to read it.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Tell Me Everything by Elizabeth StroutMy review 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Misfit: The unravelling of Samantha X by Amanda GoffMy review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finding Serenissima by Apple Gidley.
Didn't expect so much romance in this book with a senior citizen in the lead, but it might work for those who like destination love stories.

Two middle-grade books. One a hit, the other more mixed.1. The Appletree Animal Agency by Katya Balen
This author rarely disappoints me! This is a fabulous option for animal-loving kiddos. First of a series.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
2. A Song for You and I by K. O'Neill
A middle-grade graphic novel that means wells but leaves many things unsaid. Mine is an outlier review for this.

I read Night Watch by Jayne Anne Phillips, the 2024 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. It is set against the backdrop of the Civil War. I thought it was skillfully done. Her depiction of the interiority and voices of the different characters was excellent. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
⭐⭐⭐⭐.3 for
A Certain Kind of Starlight by Heather Webber combines a little southern magic with warm-hearted common sense. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The Matchmakers by Vanessa Edwards
One of the most complex and cleverest suspense stories I have read recently, with multiple characters and subplots. despite a few writing issues, I quite enjoyed this indie novel.

After finishing
The Summer Guests #2 in the Martini Club series by Tess Gerritsen, I can't wait for #3! ⭐⭐⭐⭐.3 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Two crime-based books, one is possible a parody and one is actually a parody. Despite minor flaws, both are fun to read!1. Where the Bones Lie by Nick Kolakowski
A detective thriller that pays ode to classic sleuth stories but with an unlikely sleuth.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
2. The Awful Truth About The Sushing Prize by Marco Ocram
I have never read a book such as this! The premise is outrageously creative. If you enjoy satire, try this.
