Andrea | 3568 comments Finished Stars Above, I actually quite enjoyed the last story in particular, for whatever reason made me laugh.

Up next will work my muscles again with the second installment inside the Heritage of Shannara 4-part omnibus - The Druid of Shannara

Kivrin | 542 comments I'm reading The Changeling. Very much a modern fantasy set in NYC. I liked it at first, but I lost interest about half way through. Plugging along to the end, but it's not holding my attention.

Finished Home Before Dark and really enjoyed it. It's light horror but the structure (book within a book) intrigued me, and I got some real chills from it.

Pierre Hofmann | 211 comments I finished my second reading of The Magic of Recluce. I liked the book better than the first time, even though I still have a few issues with it. The beginning pages of the next book in the publishing sequence, The Towers of the Sunset, are offered as a bonus in my Kindle version, so that I can see whether I should purchase that second volume.

Georgann | 311 comments Just finished The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune The House in the Cerulean Sea. And with it, I got my first BINGO! I am amazed that it is still such a popular book, being published in 2020. I mean it was good and all, but in our library system, 60 libraries have at least one copy and currently, only 10 have copies available to check out. I just find that surprising that so many people are still reading it! Like me.

Noor Al-Shanti | 73 comments I've just started Miss Percy's Travel Guide to Welsh Moors and Feral Dragons, which is book 2 in the series. I loved book 1 and I'm excited to dive into this one.

I loathe that book. Look, my blood pressure's rising just thinking about it. XD

I had the same reaction to another super popular book that I DNF b/c the MC was so mistreated, and others were surprised I didn't like it.

Today I read House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland House of Hollow. Devoured it!

Gary Gillen | 134 comments I finished reading Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson. It is the first of four books released in 2023 from the Kickstarter campaign of 2022 called the four secret novels. The novel is also from the Cosmere series. Great book. I also read The Forgotten Beasts of Eld by Patricia A. McKillip. It is a great fantasy novel featuring a sorceress that gets a baby to raise and the complications of that situation over many years. I am reading The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer by Neal Stephenson. It is about a nanotech future set in Shanghai. I plan to read Blue Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson. It is the third book in the Mars trilogy.

It was too saccharine and condescendingly preachy for me.

Tony Calder (tcsydney) | 1083 comments I have finished reading Starrise at Corrivale and I quite enjoyed it. It's the start of a trilogy, and does leave some questions unanswered, but all the major plot lines are nicely resolved for readers won't don't want to continue with the series.

Andrea | 3568 comments Finished reading The Druid of Shannara, it's the second of four books that make up a continuous storyline so I'm right in the middle at the moment.

Well, I got my hands on Dune: The Heir of Caladan by Brian Herbert. I wasn't about to pay full price for it, but then Book Outlet (the direct to customer version of Book Depot) got some priced at $9 instead of $40 so grabbed onr the moment I saw it. Also got The Last Druid, the last book in the Shannara series but that I won't get around to till end of December.

I have no idea if that will be the last of the Dune books by Herbert's son or if he and Anderson have another dozen planned...will see. Hopefully it stops here.

Tony Calder (tcsydney) | 1083 comments I have started Vietnam At War: The History 1946-1975 which is definitely not SFF. It is a chunky tome - trade paperback size and over 800 pages - I don't think I will be carrying it around in my backpack.
