Week 4 - Spot 30
Book: Wrath by Jay Leigh Brown

Review:
I was really enjoying this book, until the focus became the misunderstandings/miscommunications Ellie has with Toc, Luca and Rafe.
I really liked the beginning where it shows how Ellie’s relationship with the twins has changed because I was really looking forward to seeing them sort it out. Then something happens and the next chapter is Ellie coming back after 6 years. I had a lot of problems with that. First, she’s supposedly hiding her identity, and yet everyone that sees her recognises her, even if they don’t say it straight away. Second, her relationship with the brothers gets annoying quickly because they don’t really talk to each other. There are a few times when one of them gets angry with the rest and it feels like it’s impossible for them to be together, but then suddenly they start getting along again, without really showing how they worked their conflict out. Lastly, this book was supposed to be about Ellie’s revenge and yet the revenge is mostly in the background and it felt like the characters forgot about it for most of the book.
I didn’t like the ending. In my opinion, Ellie doesn’t get her revenge, and instead (view spoiler). Ellie and Toc seemed like they were done forever and then in the epilogue that’s magically forgotten. There are some characters who appear at the end and act very familiar with the main characters. I wanted to see scenes where those characters and the main characters actually got to know each other.
This book started off well, but then the focus of the book shifted onto something that I didn’t care about, and I thought that there should have been more scenes at the end after everything that happened.

Girls. I'm so so so sorry. I don't know if you'll knew I had surgery on my foot about a month ago. Anyway I fell & reinjured it on Wednesday. That sent me into a fibro flare from the pain from my foot along with the weather. Anyway I've totally spaced & totally forgot. I haven't even been thinking about anything. It's taken me over four days to read one book. It didn't even occur to me to check on this challenge. I'm so sorry!

Very hard book to read. The subject matter was hard but this is not why I almost DNF this book. I absolutely did not like the main character. Horrible things happened to her but it was so hard to like her. I know I am probably in the minority here.

The Fall of Souls is a steamy fantasy romance involving Nubian gods and goddesses. I might not be the target audience for these types of novels because I found the amount of thirst and horniness in this novel astounding in a negative way. I know that there's a reason for their horniness, but it still annoyed me a bit. For most of the book, before the MC and ML finally had sex, it felt like the MC and the ML got aroused in almost every encounter, and every skin contact caused tingles. After a while, it started to get tiring. Setting aside the horniness, the story is ok. I enjoyed the character interactions, but the overall plot is just meh for me.

How everybody seemed to love this book, I just don't get it. At 1st, I thought it was just my mood. I set this book down and didn't pick it up for a few more weeks. But still.
For most of it, I was bored to tears. Other parts were better, but still I just wanted it to end. Everytime I read for a few hours I would fall asleep.
I wanted to DNF, but I had to finish it in order to see what else happens in that world since I want to continue the series. I'm hoping this book was just a one-off for me. If not the next book will be May be my last. Although I do wanna see Gem & Kynan get their story.

Is not my first book by Caitlin Crews I read, her writing style make me finish the book even if it's not a trope I like. The book added a tent of Greek mythology: Hero name is Zeus, his father is named Cronos. Zeus is betrothed to Isabeau, but hate her and had an one-night stand with the heroine resulting to a surprise... till the end is was ok, but I like better the epilogue.

The deadline is actually today. The earliest we can roll is midnight & That is what we've been doing in the past. Eunice & I talked about it & decided to go ahead and take the chance & roll.
Don't worry about it. If it's anybody's fault it would be mine because I assumed Denise would let us take back the free pass as they have in seasons past.
At last we have the bonus point for "start and finish a serie". I've started reading the books for this week and I'm sure I'll finish it in this weekend.

Review ~ This was really good. Like Really Really Good. Unlike some, this one was Not my favorite of the series tho. Those belong to My Lawson Law Man & My Hawk Mystery Man. Now Those Boys Were The Shit!
Tack was one of my favorites in the first book along with Hawk until I got to Lawson's Book.
So another of my favorite characters in this book was Tack's kids Tabby & Rush along w/ Red's Badass AF Aunt & Uncle. AF as in also Air Force. Jesus, Aunt Bess Love her. She was The Shit too!
Anyway... Back to the MC's. Tack... Yum.
He had some of the Best Lines. Sharp as a Tack that one. Lol 😉
I LOVED his sweet. Usually I'm always all about the assholes, But here lately I'm turning up for the all that sweet.
Now I'm trying to decide whether to go back & do Rock Chick series or go onto Own the Wind & find out about Tabby & Shy.

This is a debut book from Courtney McFarlin, I've read A Razzy Cat Cozy Mystery series (and loved it) and I was willing to read more of her books. And the task made my choose this book.
The book is about Shay Reynolds, she return to her small hometown and open an escape room business...but a murder happen exactly in her "escape room". An attractive detective is assigned to the case and... A good cozy mystery book, almost for my liking

This book was fine, but I wanted to see more scenes showing Dave and Zara spending time together.
I liked seeing Dave and Zara’s interactions, and I liked how they didn’t blame each other for something that was no one’s fault. There was a lot about Dave and Zara figuring out their situation and future, but I wanted to see more scenes where they are spending time together or spending time as a family.
I liked Ben, and how he listened to Dave first, without blaming him straight away. I’m curious what happened in the past that Zara thinks is her fault so I would be interested in reading his book.
Other than Ben, none of the other characters were shown enough.
This book was fine, and I liked how the characters didn’t make a massive conflict out of everything, but I wanted to see more scenes showing Dave and Zara’s relationship development.

Elice is a lawyer but doesn’t seem to know much about the law. I like the fact that she is trying to protect her family. I like her as a character. My favorite characters were Juice an Ellie’s best friend (so loyal). 2.5 stars rounded up. I would read another book by this author and I recommend this book to my book friends.

Book: Elephants Can Remember by Agatha Christie

Review:
It's great that Agatha likes to change the style and format of her Poirot books. It makes the series more fascinating to read, but this book was one of the weaker mysteries in the series. Elephants Can Remember is a cold case mystery about the deaths of a couple who appeared to have committed a double suicide. There was a lot of build-up and questioning going on, as what you would expect from a cold case mystery. I get the feeling that the main aim of the book is to explore the emotions and motives of the characters, as well as mental illness to some degree, instead of whodunnit. It wasn't hard to guess what happened; you could even call it very cliche.

I don't know what to do.... I've started a book for this call, Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean, because was tagged high-school by 25 people but the book setting is not primary in school... The school is mostly mentioned. And I'm 60% in book. I'm not sure if it will count for the alternate task or I need to search another book...

As I clarified there previously, it's a question of setting rather than genre, and as such, the book should be primarily set in a school/college/etc environment.

Review:
This is the 2nd book in the Will Trent series. I love main characters that are imperfect. Will has his troubles and is very awkward. You can’t but love him. I also enjoy Faith his partner. I will continue on with this series.
