R14: *** WINNING TEAM *** SS Team 3 - Serious about Series

Oh yeah I didn't think about that. Being in the military for so long, my husband Hulk does that too.

I didn't think Midnight was ever coming.

My husband was in the military for 30 years, but when he does his date like that it's the 2 digit day then 3 digit month abbreviated the 4 digit year like 01 Feb 2023. So it just didn't register.

Sure you can do the roll next week & just post in this thread the Timestamp of roll & then I'll do all the links & posting of our spot.
Most of the time I'm still up, but I've had surgery on my foot (2 weeks out) & was just tired last night.

That's the way I tend to do it when I post anything in TCF, because putting only the numbers in DD/MM/YY tends to confuse the Americans. ;)

Book: Alpha Night by Nalini Singh
How it fits: #4 in Psy-Changeling Trinity
Date finished: 03 Feb 2023
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
I really liked this book, but I thought that there could have been longer scenes with side characters.
I really liked Ethan and Selenka. Despite the quick mating, they got to know each other and they were always there to support each other. I liked how it showed Selenka’s role as an alpha and how Ethan was always there to support her.
The plot was fine, but I didn’t think that there was much progress when it came to catching the Architect. I didn’t really like the chapters that were told from the Architect’s POV as it sort of felt like a cartoon villain with the talk of taking over the world.
While there were a lot of side characters, they were always briefly shown. I wanted to see more interactions with the pack as well as Ethan’s interactions with the squad as he doesn’t really trust them and it’s not shown how that trust builds. I liked Selenka’s decision about how Blaise would be dealt with, but there weren’t any scenes about what would happen to the people in his cult. Would the wolves join Selenka’s pack? How would they fit in?
Another thing that I wanted to see more of was Selenka in her wolf form as she only shifts at the very end, and I wanted to see more of Ethan’s powers. His power (the light telekinesis) is unique and hasn’t been mentioned before, or at least I don’t remember it being mentioned, so I wanted to see how he can use it.
I really liked this book, but there were some things that could have been shown in more detail. I can’t wait to see what will happen in the next book.

Awesome! Thanks!

I can easily do ✸ One point can be earned for reading three or more books in a series

Spot 14 ~ Alternate task: New to You Author

Book: Priest of Bones by Peter McLean
How it fits: #1 in series; first book I've read from this author (2 in 1)
Date finished: Feb 7, 2023
Rating: 4
Review:
I didn't think that I would enjoy Priest of Bones as much as I did. The synopsis seemed somewhat lackluster due to its vagueness, but the writing was quite easy to read in spite of the dark setting and also the issues that this book dealt with such as PTSD and other more personal traumas stemming from some of the characters' past. The main character was also surprisingly likable and compelling as a narrator; he's an uncouth gangster for sure, but he's clever and he has his own sense of morals. A good anti-hero. The surname is somehow both ironic and fitting.

Another Medicare Read. It was even another Susan Stoker book. Now, I have to tell you if I wasn't really looking forward to the next 2 stories in this series, I'd be taking a break from this author for a while.

Nope, I definitely Rex & Phantom soon. Especially Phantom, cause those of us following this team series knows exactly what he missed. I'm just hoping it will tell us exactly how much time is passed. 🤞
Anywhore, until then we have to deal with THIS book. My biggest problem is here lately it seems like instead of holding things close to the vest & dropping breadcrumbs for us to find, SS has been spoon feeding us the clues. Like we are nothing but imbeciles.

I mean come on, let me come up w/ a theory & then throw a twister in there. Doesn't even have to be a huge twist but something. Ya know? I wanna be all...

Instead of

I even had to set aside another book because it seemed like it was the same meh old thing. I need a winner. I just can't go on like this.

Another great book from the Inspector Rebus series. I love this series and the not perfect Inspector Rebus. These books are set in Scotland and the audio books are wonderful. Love hearing the Scottish accent.

Book: Pregnant by the Wrong Prince by Jackie Ashenden
How it fits: New to me Author
Date finished: Feb 9, 2023

The second book of the Pregnant Princesse series. A MultiAuthor series about 4 friends: Vincenzo, Rafael, Zeus and Jahangir. First book was about Vincenzo and this book is about Rafael. They are different authors but the end is like their used the same print... Without spoiler, it was same 'fast end' with similar actions like the first book.
About it... Its starts at the heroine wedding with the half brother of the hero and beiging pregnant with the hero..... The Wedding stops and the Author travel from present to past telling the full story of "How we got here"
I'm sure if is was not for this challenge and I wouldn't read this book 😅

It's fine! I just asked because I thought it might be a bad time for you, and I could help lessen the load as co-captain. But it's probably easier if only one person does everything?

Doesn't matter to me either way.

As far as lessening the load, just knowing you are there to either be the bad guy or hound people by sending out reminders.
It's a good thing we are Team Awesome by having all members giving their A Game. So you can kick back & just be on hand.

You are doing fine darling. All they really need just a few lines to show that you did read the book. So your review was great. It was still over and above what they needed.

Book: The Vampire Who Loved Me by Teresa Medeiros
How it fits: #2 in Cabot
Date finished: 11 Feb 2023
Rating: 1 star
Review:
I really didn’t like that Julian just disappeared and now, even though he’s the one that left them, he gets offended with how they react to him (view spoiler) . The last time they saw him was after he’d drunk human blood for the first time, and before they could see how/if that affected him, he disappears. Now he’s back and at the same time murders start happening, so how is everyone supposed to react to him being back when he’s become a stranger?
I didn’t like how Portia blindly takes Julian’s side all the time. There was a moment where she talked about being indifferent to him, but that lasts maybe a page or two.
I didn’t like this book because there was basically one conflict which could have been easily avoided, except Julian makes a decision that makes no sense to me and causes all the subsequent problems. (view spoiler)
This book and the main point of it were not for me, as it just made me angry. While I really didn’t like this book, I’ll still probably try other books by this author as I liked Adrian and Caroline’s book.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

That was me this WHOLE BOOK!
Tbh, I was not really looking forward to this after wildman. I thought nothing could hold up to my Hawk in Mystery Man. But damn Mitch. You pulled it off.

He was so Swoon Worthy. I totally get where Mara got her whole body WOOSH & whole body sigh from. This book was so what I needed. Afterwards I had that whole body sigh. I just laid back smiled and went to sleep.
As far as the action that goes on,

Mitch... "Ok. Here's the play...

And

Of course it had all of the normal drama with somebody being kidnapped. But it was a short kidnapping. LOL. Because Hawk, Tack & some of the others show up to save the day. Because all in all KA Heroes take care of business!

Eunice I so wanted that 5. Lol

It was hard to pretend I really didn't roll that & try again...

I liked a little better that book 1 and 2 in this Series. And I don't knou why😅.
This book is about Jahangir (Jag) who marry Rita for revenge against his father. A little suspense (heroine is Kidnapped and rescued by hero). And the two secrets in title are the twins babies she will have.

Spot 23 ~ Alternative task: Number in the Title

Book: In Five Years by Rebecca Serle
How it fits: Number in the Title: Five
Date finished: Feb. 12, 2023
Rating: 5
Review:
The book revolves around a question: what will happen in five years? In the beginning, the MC gets a dream where she finds herself 5 years in the future with a life completely different from her current one. When reality provides signs that her dream may really be a glimpse into the future, she does her best to ensure that dream doesn't come to life. The use of such mystery plot devices, as well as the way the author weaved the story, helped make the story a compelling read. I was expecting some self-discovery, but I didn't expect to be rammed with all the feels. The ending was just heartbreaking and carried the book to 5 stars.
