After an unstable childhood, Zoey Knight landed in Juneau, Alaska, during high school, and has never left. Now in her early thirties, she lives a quiet life that includes part-time caretaker for a beloved father figure. Despite the stability, she occasionally wishes for more adventure. She gets more than she bargained for when a plane she’s in goes down in a remote stretch of wilderness—and the only other passenger is a man she’s crushed on for years.
Life as a SEAL doesn’t allow for much spare time, but Mark “Bubba” Wright still regrets not trying harder to visit his pop. Now it’s too late, and the guilt is heavy when he heads to Alaska for the reading of his father’s will. The only bright spot is finding a girl he knew in high school on the same tiny plane. The same woman, it turns out, who’s been taking care of his pop…a girl he crushed on in high school.
Struggling to survive in the Alaska back country isn’t the kind of second chance either envisioned, but relying on each other makes Zoey and Bubba’s rekindled attraction hotter than ever. Funny how puzzling out who might want them dead can bring a couple closer together…
New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Tennessee where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, Indiana, and Tennessee. She's married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.
She hadn’t seen the guy she had a crush on in high school for many years, but she never dreamed she’d end up struggling to survive a plane crash with him by her side!
I usually very careful with my choice of long dragging romance. Especially with small town romance. Securing Zoey is a small town romance with a mix of suspense. The hero,Mark is a SEAL. Now i usually love a men in uniform.
I am surprise to find that the story is slow but enough to keep me interested. I think because the author successfully builidng the suspense bit by bit into the romance. The chemistry between Mark and Zoey is too straight forward. There is no banter or power play with it. There is no sexy seduction or flirting.
I was thrilled to have won a copy of this novel. I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Stoker's entertaining, well written, exciting, steamy, romantic suspense novel. It has likable, engaging characters, a strong and capable female protagonist, a hot hero, and a happily ever after ending. This novel is perfect when read as a stand alone. The glimpse of the characters from the other novels in this series has piqued my interest, and I am looking forward to reading their stories.
Bubba is returning to Alaska after the sudden death of his father and is sharing the ride with Zoey - the woman who he crushed on in high school and who he discovers is the one who was looking after his Pop for the last decade❣️
After a plane accident, they find themselves stranded and eventually come to a startling realisation.....Their circumstances creates a stronger bond between them and is one that can’t be broken as they both fight to survive the wilderness and eventually submit to their attraction😍
Loved this story of Bubba/Mark and Zoey and I loved the chapter with a sneak peek into Rex and Phantoms’ thoughts....definitely wishing that these books were here now😁
Bubba (aka Mark) & Zoey's story is full of adventure, mystery, friendship, a daring rescue, an emotional reveal, and one of my favorite HEA's! These characters & their story made my heart super happy! I loved the way they get along & how communication plays a big part in their story. Loved seeing our friends from previous books, including some Tex time. ; ) And the role Phantom plays made me even more excited for his story which will finish out the series. BUT FIRST we get some Rex & Avery & ... OMH!!! The teases for the next story always get me pumped! : )
Bubba and Zoey have not seen each other for 10 years...so who can possibly hate them both enough to try and kill them? Even whilst looking after Zoey, walking them towards safety, building them overnight shelter, hunting to feed them and trying to stay positive Bubba is more than aware that it has to be someone within their circle that wants them dead. This niggle burrows it's way deep making him furious, protective and more determined than ever to make them pay. But once they reach safety will he be able to convince Zoey that he needs her, that she owns his heart? He wasn't in a place to claim her 10 years ago, can he finally do so and finally relax? Or will her childhood trauma's and her mum's history with men steal his soul mate for a second time? Once again Susan Stoker has another hit with this book, we love the growly Alpha's who are protective but respectful, needy but giving and so very, very loving!
Zoey and Mark "Bubba" have a history. Let me say this. This book has twists and turns. It's amazing to see how Susan Stoker gave us this second chance. This book is incredible. So much content. So much mystery. I was continually trying to figure out Zoey's life and loving Bubba. Fyi, I hate that nick. This was a book I was waiting for and it was well worth the wait.
As always susan has done what not many can she has shared an adventure of a lifetime with us. while out H is busy keeping the h safe and positive in an unfun situation we get to go along for the ride. We experance alaska and when they finaly get out of there and we find out just who and why did all these things its a real shock for out H and every reader should feel his sorrow i sure did. The Book is very well written as always and the naration just couldn't be better well unless wen ross was doing the yummy male voices lol
I love this author and all of her different series. This book is definitely one of my favorites. Absolutely fell in love with Zoey. Her snarkiness and her big heart were a perfect combination. And what's not to love about Bubba/Mark? Looking forward to the next book in series but really looking forward to Phantom's book!
I love all of Susan’s books. The only issue - I read them way too fast. I loved Mark and Zoey. It was a different type of storyline after leaving the plane but it was amazing. I can’t wait for the next books. I have to say, waiting for Phantom is going to kill me ❤️
ahh every time I read one of Susan Stoker's book I marvel at her talent, and she never fails to surprise me with how she spins the story and her characters. Bubba (Mark) and Zoey. I must say that getting stuck in the wilds of Alaska only sounds good if you have someone like Bubba to keep you safe. And trust me this Alpha does and even keeps her toasty warm. (toes and armpits) at that scene I really spit my drink as I was reading it. Following those 2 through the wilderness that is Alaska, the only thing missing was the bears, she had the trees the rain and the lakes and the glacier water flowing into the lake down like wow, I could almost feel how cold that water was. And then to see his brothers looking for them and finding them was hurry they are safe, or are they. Someone wants them dead and now we need to find out who it is, that is another trip that is breathtaking. Susan did add another character in this story and Jess is something to behold, wish she had her own book. As to who wants them dead, well read the story its a great story, great characters, and I can't wait for the next story
Bubba goes home for the reading of his father's will and meets back up with the girl he had his eye on his high school, but never did anything. Zoey was just as interested in him back then. Some tries to kill them, but Bubba's friends come to the rescue and save them. Zoey is so sweet and she fits in perfectly with the rest of the ladies. I figured out who the bad guy was way before they were revealed. Phantom is still my fav. Why is my favorite always the last one to get a book?
You know when you can’t get a song out of your head? It’s stuck there on permanent loop. Over and over again. And you don’t even have a good reason for it. It’s just there spinning tracks. Why?
I read Securing Zoey and I couldn’t—for the life of me, myself and I—stop the song track from playing. It was crazy. Sometimes author’s allude to musical genres or even a specific song to help a story or set a scene. And it’s not really Susan Stoker’s thing—to sprinkle a Spotify list throughout her books. So, Securing doesn’t have an official soundtrack. But I’m giving it an ‘unofficial’ song. Can I do that? I’m doing it.
Securing Zoey is the 4th book in the SEAL Legacy Series. And remember the last review I did about Piper? The one you should pay attention too? Yes. That series. Those books. The men and their loves. So, now it’s Bubba’s turn. and Bubba and Zoey have a song. At least, in my version of the of the story. His background has been alluded to in the books.
Bubba has regrets. Things he wished he have done differently. And he has to go home to try and reconcile some of them. Going home can be hard. I think (to myself) that Bubba is constantly replaying tracks of his life in his head. On a constant loop. He’s going home. And he meets Zoey. Well, technically, he re-meets Zoey. (Not entirely confident that that’s a real word. 🤷♀️) She and Bubba knew each in high school. So, re-meet. Zoey is at home. But she’s not. Her home isn’t her home, you know? She’s struggling to find her place.
I really enjoy reading Susan Stoker’s books. Her stories make me laugh, cry and snort. I enjoy her characters and their stories. I love the interwoven worlds she’s written. And I’m amused at her leading the reader through her own ‘soundtrack’ of sorts. At least, in the written form of a soundtrack—if that’s possible. Every artist (author or musician) creates their ‘soundtrack’ heavy drama and carefree relationships. Ups and downs; hills and valleys. Securing Zoey isn’t HEAVY-HEAVY drama. There’s stuff going on, don’t get me wrong—but it’s not super heavy. It’s like regular-drama. 😉.
There’s a line towards the end of the story: Show me the way home, honey.
And that’s it. They are it. Bubba and Zoey are home. They don’t have to go back. Just show each other home. Together.
The good thing about song lyrics and music is that it’s interpretive and subjective to the listener. This is what I hear when I read Bubba and Zoey trekking across the Alaskan wilderness. They’re going home. Together.
One of the reasons I try to get behind in reading Susan Stoker's books is that when I finish a book, I find I am now going to have to wait months (long, long months) before I get to dive back into her worlds and characters. Ever since, I stumbled onto the Mountain Mercenaries, which led to Ace Security, which led to the SEAL of Protection Series, which led to Delta Force Heroes. Get my drift? I love her worlds and characters; they are people you like and enjoy watching their lives bloom in front of you. Securing Zoey is no different. I always think her latest hero is my favorite; Mark "Bubba" Wright is no different. He is the epitome of the nice guy. In previous books, in the series, he's always been the nice guy, and he still is. Zoey is the same, and they become a lovely couple. Some might find this annoying, but one of the characteristics of Susan's books that I admire is that her characters are real. Not everyone is rich and living in fancy houses. These are military people on military salaries, and they live regular lives (aside from the whole going out and saving people thing that SEALs do). Bubba and Zoey find themselves in a dangerous situation, and Bubba SEALs his way through it (yes, I just used SEAL as a verb), and Zoey does her best. What caught my attention is just how dang sweet Bubba is; he encourages and praises Zoey, which in turn builds her confidence. Being thrust into a situation that you are not comfortable with no only leaves you insecure in your ability to handle things, it also drags you down in doubt. Bubba can handle both situations for Zoey just by being him. There is an element of mystery, and there is suspense. Zoey is capable and no shrinking violet. Bubba, being alpha, is protective and almost too gentlemanly. The attraction between the characters is believable and hot. However, there is no immediate jumping into bed, but a nice slow burn build-up that pays off exceptionally well. These are not teens nor twenty-somethings, but people in their thirties who have reached a point in their life where they are ready to experience more. I highly recommend this book as well as all of Susan's other books and welcome you to the club of patiently (not) waiting for the next one.
SECURING ZOEY by Susan Stoker. Well, this series is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I love the alpha heroes and, in this one, Bubba (a/k/a Mark) is delicious! Yes, he is a big, bad SEAL who saves the day but he is sweet and kind and considerate too. Zoey is the perfect match for Bubba - she is hardworking, yet believes herself to be an average girl just going day by day. I liked how they balanced each other and felt they were perfect together. Ms. Stoker takes us on an adventure with these two, as they work together to survive in the wilderness. There is danger and suspense, some mystery to find out who the bad guy is, and, as Ms. Stoker does so well, emotions galore. My heart swelled with love and happiness, then broke with heartache for this couple. I was eagerly turning each page to find out what would happen next. Ms. Stoker's writing style is one that I enjoy - I always know where I am, who is who and what is going on. It flows effortlessly and the characters and plots are believable too. This is one that I highly recommend!
This is Zoey and Bubbas story. This story has so many zigs and zags, that it WILL keep you on the edge of your seat! You will NOT be able to put it down until your finished. Then you will cry and moan because it is finished. I’m this story not only is mark/Bubba a Navy Seal, but he also has a twin brother. They grew up in a small town in Alaska. That’s where he met Zoey, who as soon as she and her mom moved there, tried to get Mark to notice her by dating his brother. There is a plane crash... A jungle rescue... A stalker/killer... A HUGE zig zag that comes out of freaking NOWHERE...ok, you see it coming...kinda. You also think, nahhhhh, Susan Stoker would NEVER do that...oh yeah she did. Bwahahahahahaha
You so HAVE to read this book!!! This story is completely, 100%, totally Amazing!!!
The lead into Rex’s story... O. M. G. I am speechless with where she left me. I am So excited for this story and the rest of this amazing series!!!
Susan Stoker is one of those authors that could write the phone book and I'd read it. She is phenomenal!! I can't get enough of her writing it never disappoints! I absolutely loved bubba and Zoey! Zoey was so strong and snarky and i loved it! Mark was so sweet with Zoey I absolutely loved that the first interaction we see with them they are bickering. So dang fun.
Like any Susan stoker book there was a bit of mystery surrounding everything. I along with the team kept wondering who did it! I also love that Tex is a huge part of this series.
Even though this is a romantic suspense there was quite a bit of humor in this with th character of Jess. She was an absolute riot.
If you haven't read any Susan stoker book what are you waiting for?? She is one of my absolute favorites, she is an automatic one click.
Securing Zoey by Susan Stoker was one great read, this has suspense, mystery, danger and plenty of chemistry. The characters are well written and I absolutely loved Zoey and Mark aka Bubba. I just loved this story, it hooked me from the very start. Bubba is on his way home to Alaska he knows he should have come home sooner, now all he has are regrets and guilt. Zoey lives a quiet life in Juneau Alaska deciding to go away and visit her mother she gets a call to head back home it is concerning the beloved father figure in her life. While waiting for the plane Mark and Zoey come face to face with each other, both are surprised to see one another after all high school was a few years ago. This is just where the adventure begins, there are some ups and downs with some very intriguing twists and turns that will definitely keep you intrigued.
This was a very enjoyable, interesting and unique story. The plot kept me riveted to see what was going to happen next! I thought Mark and Zoey were a great couple! The affection, friendship, love and sexiness between them was exciting and heartwarming at the same time. I really enjoy Susan's heroes and how they treat the woman in their lives. They are all so protective and kind to their woman. I also, or course, really like how with each book in the series we get brought up to date on how the other couples are doing... Each book can be read as a stand-alone but it is a fantastically entertaining series and I highly recommend all of the books in the series! 😁
A must read for Susan Stoker and Romantic Suspense fans!!
Another fabulous romantic suspense from Susan Stoker! Bubba meets Zoey when their small charter plane goes down over the Alaskan wilderness and they are left for dead. Mark "Bubba", being a Navy SEAL, is Zoey's saving grace whilst they are forced to fend for themselves and their attraction blossoms the more time they spend together but danger is always lurking... Loved this book! Romantic, sweet, suspenseful, humorous! Everything we've come to expect from Susan Stoker over the years. Now I am really looking forward to Every and Kalee's books!!
Just when I think I have a favorite Susan Stokes hero, along comes Bubba! I didn't feel like we got to know Bubba in the first three books in the series, but he is alpha to the max, but a super nice guy through and through. Zoey and Bubba seem to be a perfect match. I really liked their story. Susan Stokes continues to come up with unique ways to make her heroes suffer. I can't wait for what she has waiting for Rex and Phantom.
This story had so many things I love... A high school crush. A plane crash. Trying to stay alive in the Alaskan wilderness. Securing Zoey was a wild ride that kept me on the edge of my seat and until the final pages. An addicting read from start to finish!
Good! The storyline is basically the same as the previous books (danger, fall in love, temp out of danger, funny character, danger). But, if you enjoy that plot line, then you will continue to enjoy these books!
This book was phenomenal. It will make you laugh and cry. I was pulled in from the first page and I didn’t want it to end. I loved everything about this book.
This had everything I love in a Susan Stoker book. It had just the right balance of action and romance. I love the brotherhood of the teams and how close their families are with each other. I am looking forward to reading Phantom and Rex's stories
I loved it couldn’t put it down. The twist is Bubba is the mission. Someone is trying to kill him and Zoey. They leave them in the Alaska wilderness and Bubba uses and teaches Zoey survival skills. Their old feeling from high school rekindle and take off the charts.
What a cute couple, Zoeyy a head strong girl.a real good head on her shoulders , trying go beat the odds against her and Mark trying to deal with his family..but this book is a great read..full of heart and love.. you'll love this book...thanks to you Susan..
Former high school classmates Zoey Knight and Mark "Bubba" Wright end up stranded together in the Alaskan wilderness when they return to Juneau for Mark's father's funeral, and even after their rescue, have to work together to find out who wants them dead.
There's enough of a mystery to keep readers guessing as to which of the few suspects is responsible for what happened to Mark and Zoey, which is good. They also have chemistry and are a nice couple. However, the actual relationship moves very quickly, and Zoey really needs to get more self-esteem on her own before starting a relationship. Other than that, this is a very good book.
I love Susan Stoker! Her books are absolutely amazing, I couldn't put this book down! She has a way with words that makes me feel like I am right there in the thick of things. This book was phenomenal!
