PattyMacDotComma | 585 comments The Girl in the Ice, by Robert Bryndza, is the first book in his popular Detective Erika Foster series. It's hard to believe it was the author's debut novel. Great read, with six more to follow.

PattyMacDotComma | 585 comments The Secret Scripture, by Sebastian Barry, is the mysterious story of the most beautiful girl in Sligo, Ireland, who has been in a mental institution for decades and is now 100. No wonder Barry was Ireland's Laureate for Irish Fiction. It's terrific.

Steve Gans (httpswwwfacebookcomstevegans10) | 2 comments I am rereading Shane Lusher's "Blood Tithes". Shane is an outstanding writer of what I would call Midwest Noir. His protagonist, Dana Hartman, is a great character. I wish I could write as well as Shane. He is a great storyteller, highly recommended.

I am also trying to read Charles Willeford's "The Way We Die Now". A friend recommended him, but, three chapters in, Willeford just isn't grabbing me. He's good, but perhaps just not my cup of tea. I'm going to stick to it and see how it goes.

Robert Dugoni's latest, Her Deadly Game, is a courtroom drama with a good investigative dilemma at the heart and a most intriguing solution.

Aditya | 1893 comments Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. Darkly funny but runs out of steam halfway into the book. It makes perversion beautiful and vulgarity tender. Rating - 3/5
