My review of Death on the Scotland Express by Fliss Chester
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished Put Out to Pasture
by Amanda Flower. It is okay. I like her other series better. I do find it interesting trying to keep the family farm running, but rest of plot and characters do not do much for me.
I just enjoyed The Mystery Writer by one of my favourite authors, Aussie Sulari Gentill. This one has a couple of Aussie characters in the US, caught up in murder, conspiracies and preppers. Good stuff!
My review of The Mystery Writer
Catching up a little after being gone for Thanksgiving.
Dead Man's Hand by Penny Warner https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Over My Dead Blog by Sarah E. Burr https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Linda wrote: "Pillars Of The Earth"I really liked it when I first read it, but I didn't like the sequel; now I wonder if I'd like the book if I were to read it now. I read it when it was newly published during the time I also lived in ON.
Karin wrote: "I'm currently reading
The Big Book of Christmas Mysteries"I'm planning to read this in December :)
I finished A Holiday for Murder
by Agatha Christie . Very good, not easy to figure out and Hercule Poirot was excellent. Not trying to read the tiny font in the book is another matter.
Closing out the month with
The Body in the Cornfield by Catherine Dilts https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave shows the cruel reality of life in Finland's harsh and frozen far north in the 1600s. Witch-hunting was rife. Based on true events.
My review of The Mercies
What the Devil Knows by C.S. Harris 4-StarsSebastian investigates savage and brutal murders
My Review
The Spy Coast by Tess Gerritsen 5-StarsOld farts still have what it takes.
My Review
I'm starting out December with
"Y" is for Yesterday by Sue Grafton https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've just enjoyed The Long Game, the first of Aussie author Simon Rowell's series featuring Detective Sergeant Zoe Mayer. Her new service dog, Harry, is helping her get back in harness herself after a bad bout of PTSD.
My review of The Long Game(Detective Zoe Mayer #1)
I've liked all of the P.J. Tracy Monkeewrench series, but my favourite so far is #7, Cold Kill (aka The Sixth Idea. Suspenseful (plausible!) threat to today's world. Great read.
My review of Cold Kill - The Sixth Sense
My review of Murder of an Amish Bridegroom by Patricia Johns

I finished a fun Christmas cozyMurder at the Christmas Cookie Bake-Off
by Darci Hannah. Lots of good Christmas cookie recipes too.
The second Detective Honeywell Mystery was another enjoyable book.
Keep Your Family Close by Annette Dashofy https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Lost Gift to the Italian Island by Barbara Josselsohn ⭐⭐⭐.7 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Fans have been waiting a while to see what author Graham Brack's Captain Josef Slonský has been up to, and I was glad to seem him back in (limping) action in Prague, solving the case of The Murdered Molls. Crime and humour - great mix.
My review of The Murdered Molls
In Shades of Death: Murder at the Court of Elizabeth I, historian Angela Ranson presents Catrin, an appealing, independent young heroine whom the Queen sends to investigate death threats. Great read for historical mystery lovers.
My review of Shades of Death
I'm starting the week with
Six Feet Deep Dish by Mindy Quigley https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I liked Wild Card, the second book in the Detective Zoe Mayer series even more than the first. Aussie author Simon Rowell gives us a good story with a cross-border investigation between Victoria and New South Wales and plenty of secret alliances. Harry is back in harness, still acting to serve and protect Zoe. Good boy!
My review of Wild Card
Physical Book: Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John MandeleBook: Angel's Peak by Robyn Carr
Audiobook: Clash of Steel by C.B. Lee
I finished a very good historical cozy I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died
by Amanda Flower. Very good, 2nd book in the series. 1856 Amherest, Ma. Lots of socieal issues of the time, racial, slavery, immigrants. Louisa Alcott, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Emily Dickinson are characters. I recommend reading book 1 first.
I'm moving to Christmas books for the next week and a half. Up first:
Murder Under the Mistletoe by Erica Ruth Neubauer https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished A Polluted Font
today. It was excellent set in 1377. Lots of discussion of the Poll Tax introduced and the death of Edward III. As usual his glossary is excellent. He does a great job of describing the food of the time. I don't think I could eat it. Start with book one of series.
I'm ending the week with another Christmas cozy:
Spoon to be Dead by Dana Mentink https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
It was fun to eavesdrop on two old gentlemen comparing ghost stories from their schooldays. A School Story by M.R. James took place in 1870, but it could easily be a contemporary mystery.
