A delightful new cozy mystery from USA Today bestselling author Amanda Flower!

There's fowl play afoot on the farm

Shiloh Bellamy has saved her family's farm from financial ruin—but now what? She's barely scraping by on the farm's new organic business model and the fall festival she organized to drum up business comes to a screeching halt when the body of a prominent townswoman is discovered underneath a scarecrow in a nearby field. Worst of all, the evidence points to Shiloh's childhood best friend, Kristy, as the prime suspect.

Between cooking up delicious treats made with her farm's produce, convincing her cantankerous father to let her do things her own way, and dealing with a newcomer in town who could be serious competition for her customers, Shiloh doesn't have time to wade into a murder investigation. But with a killer on the loose and suspicious activity circling closer and closer to Shiloh and the people she loves, she realizes there's nothing to do but roll up her sleeves and get down to the dirty work of finding the killer and clearing Kristy's name once and for all.

EXCERPT: Quinn pointed at me. 'Call 911. My father should be on call. I'm going to find this scarecrow.' He started to leave.
'Wait! I'm coming with you.' I went after him with my cell phone in my hand. 'The scarecrow is just beyond that ridge. Hazel and I put him up.'
The colour drained from his face.
'Quinn, Hazel is fine. She's in the barn playing with Esmeralda and the barn cats.'
He nodded, looking as if that was the best he could do because he was unable to speak.
'Follow me,' I said and began to run in the direction of the scarecrow.
The scarecrow stood proudly above the small pumpkin patch. A large crow rested on one of its outstretched wooden arms and stared down at the ground. The bird unfolded its wings and took off, flapping them twice before disappearing in the trees.
'That's not a very effective scarecrow,' Quinn said.
I didn't respond because now I was close enough to see what Whit had seen at the scarecrow's feet.
Minnie Devani lay on the cold ground with her right cheek pressed into the dry grass, eyes wide and glassy, Kristy's beloved scarf wrapped tightly around her throat.

ABOUT 'PUT OUT TO PASTURE': Shiloh Bellamy has saved her family's farm from financial ruin—but now what? MY THOUGHTS: I have, over the past year or so, taken quite a shine to cosy mysteries. This is the first I have read by Amanda Flower and it has left me sitting on the farm fence.

I enjoyed the rural atmosphere in Put Out to Pasture, organic farming and love the concept of Fall festivals. I loved the small town setting with its well depicted characters and the very obvious hierarchy that exists, with the 'Queen Bee' ejecting those who pose a threat from her circle - or, in this case, her book club. I like the relationship between Quinn and Shiloh, but would have liked to have seen a bit more of Quinn's daughter, Hazel.

I mostly liked the plot, which is unusual to say the least, but . . . the investigation was basically non-existent, there was zero suspense, the 'main suspect' never really featured, Shiloh didn't really do any serious investigating other than the dead woman's neighbour - she just fluffed about quite aimlessly and took people at their word. I didn't like the resolution. It was hasty with not much of a lead in. And there were no clues as to the perpetrator scattered through the plot.

And Tanner? I guess he was introduced to provide a possible love interest in future books.

An okay read. I won't go out of my way to read more of this series, but if another landed in my lap, I would probably read it.

⭐⭐.5

This is a Cozy Mystery, and this is the second book in the Farm to Table Mysteries series. I really enjoyed the characters in this cozy mystery. The mystery in this book was good, and it kept me guessing through out this book. I love the farm setting in this book, and I love reading the farm parts. I really loved the Cherry Trees part. I have to say one of the reasons I loved this series is the Farm settings in this book. There was a lot going on in this book, and the drama was more then this the mystery. I think all the drama worked in this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Poisoned Pen Press) or author (Amanda Flower) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Shiloh Bellamy left LA and a great job in the film industry to help save the family farm in Michigan cherry country. Her father needs her help as he advances in age. She has some great ideas for organic farming and then on to selling her produce in different venues.
A nice October Friday afternoon, Shiloh and her helpers host Fall Daze, where they have a corn maze, other activities, and food with a huge turnout. Then an unlikable woman, Minnie, is found murdered on Shiloh's property after a public argument with Kristy, Shiloh's friend and director of the Farmers' Market. Police Chief Randy Kilian is sure that Kristy is guilty but then US Marshal Lynn Chuff shows up on the farm the next day. She has been investigating Minnie and informs Shiloh that Minnie is really a bank robber who disappeared years ago. Chief Randy disagrees. There are lots of questions that Shiloh has to find answers to and along the way, lots of suspects to question.
Characters from the first book are present and some new ones as well, including a handsome new neighbor, who purchased the other half of the Bellamy farm. He seems very nice and helpful, but Shiloh hasn't decided about him yet. The mystery in this story is great and I was stumped until the reveal of the killer. The ending left me wondering what would happen next and I look forward to the next book. Amanda Flower always writes a great mystery, and she is a favorite.
I received a complimentary ARC from Poisoned Pen and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

Put Out To Pasture is the second book in the Farm To Tablet series by award-winning, best-selling American author, Amanda Flower. It’s three months since Shiloh Bellamy returned to Cherry Glen, Michigan, and she’s determined to save Bellamy Farm. Her dream is to make it a destination for organic produce and intends to add a café to showcase her baking skills.

Their first promotional activity is Fall Daze, a two-day food and fun festival at Bellamy Farm, attracting unexpectedly high numbers of visitors. Some drama is added when Shiloh’s best friend Kristy has a loud argument with one of her Farmers’ Market stall holders. Beekeeper Minnie Devani is later found at the foot of the scarecrow out in the field, strangled.

Circumstantial evidence implicates Kristy as a suspect, and Shiloh is not confident that the town’s Police Chief, Randy Killian won’t just settle for the easiest option rather than investigating further. Shiloh vows to clear her friend’s name, even if it means talking to Minnie’s best (only?) friend, Doreen Killian and her book club friends, who are unlikely to be friendly or welcoming, due to past accusations

But then US Marshal Lynn Chuff arrives, claiming a different name and history for Minnie than the one generally accepted in Cherry Glen. Could her criminal past have caught up with her?

Shiloh discovers she has a (gorgeous) new neighbour, also intending to farm organically, a man who has paid Minnie an exorbitant amount of money for the Market stall she had no right to sell. As Shiloh investigates further, she encounters several more townspeople with grudges against the abrasive Minnie.

This is a cosy mystery with plenty of red herrings to keep the reader guessing. Shiloh does seem to have rather a lot of free time to spend investigating when she also has a farm to save, and her defining the best friend of her fifteen-years-dead fiancé as “off limits” is puzzling. Doubtless fans of rural cosies will enjoy this one.

Put Out to Pasture is book two in Amanda Flowers Farm to Table series. Shiloh Bellamy has her work cut out for her if she hopes to restore the farm and cherry orchard and turn it into an organic farm. Wanting to earn a profit to get this restoration project started she plans to host a fall festival on Bellamy farm. Once again her father complains about her every effort to save the farm. Despite that she goes ahead with the festival and the first day is a success until the most disliked woman in town, Minnie Devoni is found dead with Shiloh’s best friend Kristy’s pretty scarf tied tightly around her neck. Things do not look good for Kristy since she and Minnie had just had a loud and heated argument at the festival earlier that day. Chief Randy claims Kristy is his prime suspect for Minnie’s murder and Shiloh gets busy trying to find other suspects with motives enough to want Minnie dead. Evidence turns up that proves the diseased woman isn’t who she claimed to be and she had been deceiving everyone in Cherry Glen for years. Could someone from Minnie’s past have killed her ? Will Shiloh be able to gather enough evidence to solve this murder case and save Kristy from going to prison?
I was quickly drawn into this puzzling mystery from the first page. I’m growing to love the characters that are a part of the series. True that a few of them aren’t too lovable but they all play their roles very good . I find myself forgetting it’s fiction. The book was very entertaining and unpredictable at times. I thought it was a page turner with chapters ending with situations that left readers hanging and wanting to quickly read on to the next chapter. I wasn’t able to figure out who really killed Minnie. I do enjoy being totally surprised at the books ending and the author made readers wait till the last chapter to find out who done it! I throughly enjoyed this well written mystery.
I recommend this book to readers of Cozy Mystery and fans of the author. This book is scheduled to be released on February 22,2022

Put Out to Pasture was a quick read. The main character Shiloh Bellemy who has come home from CA to save her family's farm. The supporting characters all were good to make this story very interesting. Shiloh has decided to have a fall event to raise money for her farm. Minnie Devani, alias Joan Marino, a bee keeper and runs a booth at the Farmer's Market is murdered in her pasture near a scarecrow during the event. She was strangled with her childhood friend, Kristy Brown's scarf which makes her the prime suspect. Shiloh goes through many adventures to try to find out who did kill Minnie. Some of her adventures did make me chuckle with the situations she got herself into.. There are run-ins with Doreen Killion, a friend of Minnie's, who has a dislike towards Shiloh as she blames for the death of Logan Graham who was killed as a teenager in an automobile accident. There is Lynn Chuff who is a US marshall who has been looking for Minnie for past robberies. Her new neighbor, Tanner Birchwood adds mystery to the story. The ending was as expected with the discovery who the murderer was.

I enjoy this series and look forward to see the next adventure of Shiloh. This book left the reader wondering if there is a romance between Shiloh and Quinn Killian or will Tanner Birchwood play a bigger part.

Shiloh is willing to try anything to save her family‘s farm, which includes hosting a Fall Daze festival. The picturesque October afternoon is interrupted by Minnie who is hell-bent on revenge. Shiloh’s best friend Kristy runs the farmer market and recently accused Minnie of stealing money. Minnie picks a fight in front of everyone with Kristen, and even includes Shiloh, promising to make her life miserable.

By the end of the day, Minnie is found dead with Kristy’s scarf wrapped around her neck. Shiloh and her cute pug set out to find the true killer to clear her friend. Intriguing truths emerge and not everyone is as they seem in the small town of Cherry Glen.

Put Out to Pasture provides a quaint farm, a lovely autumn atmosphere, and plenty of quirky characters to keep you entertained with this perfect cozy fall mystery.

Thank you NetGalley and Poison Pen Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I have read a lot of Amanda Flower mysteries but this one is my favorite. Shiloh has a tough road ahead trying to save the family farm after her elderly father let it go to ruin on top of taking out two mortgages. Then when there is a murder at the farm things became even more complicated.

The characters were very engaging and the mystery had some interesting twists and turns. I am anxious for the next Farm to Table Mystery to see what happens with Oliver and the new neighbor. Thanks to Poisoned Pen and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

Put Out To Pasture is the second book in the cozy mystery series Farm To Table by Amanda Flower.
I've read so many of her cozy mysteries in many of her series and they never disappoint. I always look forward to the next. Now even though this is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone.
Shiloh Bellamy has her work cut out for her trying to keep the family farm afloat.
She and her dog Huckleberry the Pug are working from sunup til sundown doing chores and trying to turn it into an organic bakery business when she gets the idea of hosting a fall festival at her farm.
The festival is going swimmingly and she and her assistant can not keep up with the baking supply needed of the organic foods. Unfortunately this all comes to a screeching halt when a body is found in a back field.
Things go from bad to worse when the evidence all seems to point to her best friend as the main suspect. Now she not only has the farm work to do she takes it upon herself to investigate the crime so her friend won't be blamed.
I enjoyed the book a lot except for the ending when it felt kind of strange as the love interest just fizzled out.
I look forward to reading about more adventures in this series.

Put Out to Pasture by Amanda Flower has Shiloh Bellamy hosting Fall Daze at Bellamy Farm. Shiloh has baked up hundreds of her organic treats to sell to the attendees. Shiloh is surprised at how many people showed up for the event and stay even after the loud argument between Kristy Brown and Minnie Devani (attendees got an extra show). The last of the festival goers are leaving for the day when Shiloh hears a woman screaming. Quinn and Shiloh race over to find Minnie dead at the foot of the scarecrow. Evidence at the scene points to Kristy as the guilty party. Shiloh is quick to dig into the case. She is not about to let her bestie go away for murder. Put Out to Pasture is the second Farm to Table Mystery. It can be read as a standalone if you have not read Farm to Trouble. I like Amanda Flower’s engaging writing style. I know when I start one of this author’s books, that I will quickly be drawn into the tale. The characters are delightful. They are warm, friendly, and relatable (there are one or two exceptions). Shiloh Bellamy is working hard to restore Bellamy Farm despite her father’s negative comments and unhelpfulness. I enjoy the descriptions of the Bellamy Farm and the surrounding area. The author’s word imagery brings the scenery to life. The mystery was a fun one to solve. The victim was not well-liked which means there were several good suspects. There is misdirection to distract you from the true killer. The clues are there if pay close attention. The reveal wraps up the whodunit nicely. I thought Amanda Flower created a fun and unique mystery. I just love Shiloh’s little pug. He is a cutie. Shiloh has additional trouble when the other half of Bellamy Farm is sold by the developers to Tanner Birchwood who has the same vision as Shiloh. I am looking forward to Shiloh’s next adventure. Put Out to Pasture is a refreshing tale with a fun fall festival, deep fried delights, a scarecrow crime scene, a framed friend, a precious pug, a new can-do neighbor, and a cunning killer.

Shiloh Bellamy gave up her career in Hollywood to save the family farm. During the first day of a festival on the farm things are looking good and her organic treats sell out. But the day ends on a sour note when a local woman is found murdered on the farm, with Shiloh’s BFF’s scarf wrapped around the woman’s neck. Now Shiloh has to save more than the farm, She has to save Kristy from prison as well.

With a few suspects on her list, Shiloh adds a few more as she starts digging around. Caught between the local sheriff and a federal marshal, Shi has to balance her actions to keep both law enforcement agents happy while clearing her friend. But will Shiloh go down along with the farm this time? Only time will tell on both fronts.

A good entry in yet another fabulous series from Amanda Flower. She obviously uses her personal knowledge of life on a farm to help build the story and characters….and you will love them as much as she does. If you haven’t read any of Amanda’s work, this is your chance to start. You’ll find out why she’s a fan favorite and be hooked just like the rest of us!

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Shiloh Bellamy has many ideas to save her family’s farm and while her dad may not be totally on board with them she plows ahead with them. She is hosting a weekend event with food and activities for all ages. Fall Daze is so well attended on the first day she has to call in reinforcements to bring more food.

As the day is drawing to a close a scream rings out and Shiloh runs to find the body of Minnie Devani near the parking area beneath a scarecrow. Minnie was a force to be reckoned with and may have had some shady dealings that Shiloh’s best friend Kristy called her on in private. Minnie later showed up to cause a ruckus at Shiloh’s event confronting Kristi in front of a bunch of witnesses. That loud little conversation and a key piece of evidence make Kristy the police’s number 1 suspect.

When a U.S. Marshall shows up on the scene Shi knows she is going to start digging up her own clues and suspects before her bestie ends up behind bars. She also has to figure out if her new next-door neighbor is a friend or a foe and follow up a riddle left for her by her grandmother. She has a lot of seeds to sow and not much time.

I was so happy to return to Cherry Glen and the wonderful characters that reside there. Stacy has sold her half of the farm so Shiloh has a new neighbor. He has plenty of ideas and appears to have the money to see them through which scares Shiloh quite a bit as her dreams for her part of the farm may not come to fruition. He also had some dealings with Minnie Devani. Speaking of Minnie, she is quite a character with a surprising history. We also meet U.S. Marshall Lynn Chuff who brings her own unique twist to the story and really pushes Police Chief Randy’s buttons. Amanda Flower always creates such interesting characters and allows them to flourish in her stories.

This time I must say the story took a really interesting turn when the victim’s history was revealed. It let the story go in several different directions pinning more people as potential suspects in her death. I was totally blindsided though when the killer was revealed. I definitely was so caught up in the story that I must have missed a vital clue or two or three. I love when that happens though, it means I truly escaped into the protagonist’s world and traveled all around with her. Ms. Flower’s descriptive writing style gets credit for that. Her words really bring every setting to life whether it Shiloh’s cabin, a cornfield, the farmer’s market, and every place in between, and makes each character so real.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters, the mystery, the setting, everything about Put Out To Pasture made it A Perfect Escape. The only thing that could make it better was if it came with actual deep-fried Twinkies for us to enjoy while reading it.

Shiloh still has a lot of work ahead of her and a riddle to solve. I can’t wait to return to Cherry Glen for another fun whodunit.

Shiloh is working hard to save the family farm and bring it back better than ever, but things might go from bad to worse when a body shows up and her best friend is on the hook for murder. Outstanding characters that really draw you in and make you want to get to know them better entwined within an intriguing plot with several potential suspects to keep you guessing. This cozy mystery is definitely one you'll want to get into as the clues leading you to the guilty party are more subtle and intriguing. I can't wait to see what happens next!

It was a crisp mid-October afternoon.

This is the second book in the Farm to Table series. Shiloh is working hard to bring Bellamy Farm back to life. Minnie, the town grouch, is found dead on the farm during the event and Shiloh must work to clear her best friend.

This was an interesting addition to the series. Minnie was an obnoxious character in the previous book. We learn that she has a checkered past that has finally caught up with her. There are so many suspects because of her horrible disposition.

We revisit with former characters and meet a few new ones. A handsome stranger has bought the other half of Bellamy Farm and plans to turn it into an organic farm. This should be interesting since that is Shiloh's plan as well.

The mystery is very well done with just enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. The characters are well rounded and believable.

The various animals make me smile. Huckleberry is such a typical pug. Esmeralda is the perfect cat. The raucous chickens make me laugh.

I enjoyed learning more about Cherry Glen and the Bellamy family. I look forward to seeing where the relationship with Shiloh and Quinn goes.

Amanda Flower never disappoints. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Review:

The characters are well rounded and well developed. Instead of enjoying the success of Fall Daze, which Shiloh put together as a way to help her farm, a dead body turns up. And her good friend, Kristy, is the prime suspect. Now, beside working to keep the farm doing good, she is going to hac]ve to figure out the culprit to save Kristy.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book was a quick easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions kept me engaged throughout the story. The mystery was well plotted and the ending surprised me. Shiloh has quite a few suspects to consider.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Poisoned Pen Press, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

Amanda Flower's Put Out to Pasture is book two in her Farm to Table Mysteries series. It features Shiloh Bellamy who has saved her family's farm from financial ruin. Now she must build on her success but the farm is barely afloat despite branching out into organic produce and she has plans for a café to showcase her baking skills. Shiloh holds a festival she names Fall Daze to raise awareness of her organic treats and it's a success until a body is found on the farm under a scarecrow. Her best friend is a suspect so she gets involved in investigating the murder.

Set in Cherry Glen, Michigan, this is a great cozy mystery you shouldn't miss that will keep you guessing. A joy to read, I will be backtracking to book #1, Farm to Trouble as well as looking forward to the next.

I have to admit that I did not read the first book in this series, so I was a little slow catching on to the story. But....once I got the hang of the story, I couldn't stop reading!

The story begins with a Fall Festival called Fall Daze (cute name) at Shiloh's farm. She has come home from California to help her dad with the farm. There is a murder right off the bat! Of course, Shi (as her friends call her) wants to solve it.

The story was fun, the characters very interesting. Each had quirky personalities. I really enjoyed reading it!

Well done whodunit! Lots of interpersonal drama centered around some truly unpleasant characters, accusations by the local law only looking for the most expedient answer, and our sleuth's best friend finding herself at the top of the suspect list. Add in a new neighbor, a US Marshall bringing a whole new aspect to the case, a Siamese cat, a pet Pug, and more. I really loved it on this snowy afternoon.

I really love Amanda Flower’s novels. Put Out to Pasture is the second book in her Farm to Table series.
When a difficult to like woman is killed in Shiloh Bellamy’s pasture her best friend Kristy is accused. Shiloh can’t let Kristy be railroaded into a murder conviction so she vows to find the true murderer.
Amanda’s characters range from loveable (Hazel) to distasteful (Doreen) and like any community, everything in between. I like a little romance with my mystery but Shiloh’s personal life is a hot mess and romance looks to be out of the question for the time being. There is a mysterious new neighbor, too. It looks like he might play a part in the future.
So I give Put Out to Pasture 5 farmers! 👩‍🌾
I recommend this book to cozy mystery readers.

I really loved this one! I am already a huge fan of this author, but this series is becoming one of my favorites. The mystery was so good and I was completely in shock on who the killer was. The chickens make me laugh and I am super curious about the new neighbor. I like that Shiloh is starting over and fixing the farm up. I cannot wait to see what happens next!!

Just as fun and unique as the first cozy mystery in the series was. I really like Shiloh as a lead character and her pets are great characters too. The small town feels authentic and perfect for a cozy setting, with just enough different sorts of people to keep things interesting and with a good variety of nuanced characters. The murderer kept me guessing until the very end.

Can’t wait for the next mystery to solve....

This book in the series definitely gave the farm a more central place in the story which I enjoyed. Shiloh is working hard to repair all the damage and neglect to the Farm. One of her ideas Fall Daze, an event on the farm is going very well until her best friend Kristy has a fight with one of the tenants from the Farmer's Market she manages. When the women shows up dead, we know where this is going. While Shiloh does her best to get to the bottom of the murder, she has an awful lot going on as she struggles to turn the farm around. Again in this book we are left with a lot of unanswered questions, not about the murder, and I really wish something good would happen for poor Shiloh!

Another fun mystery from Amanda Flower (disclaimer: she is my friend). I think this is my favorite of all her series thus far. Amanda and her husband are currently building a house/recording studio on an adorable little farm, and I can tell that her work there has influenced this book as well as the previous one. Shiloh Bellamy has started an event called Fall Daze in an effort to get more people to realize that her farm is up and coming. Although she hasn't quite finished renovating it - her father has let it fall into disrepair after many years grieving for his wife - Shiloh is determined to make an impact on the community of Cherry Glen. When a local beekeeper is found dead in her pasture, though, Fall Daze goes from popular to desolate. Plus, Shiloh's best friend is on the hook for the murder. Shiloh is caught between the U.S. Marshal working the case and the local police chief, who is also the father of Quinn, whom she has a tenuous relationship with. Lots of conflict, both internal and external, make this book more complex than the usual cozy, and Amanda's humor is also apparent on the page. If you like cozies but want something with more meat, grab this one!

This is the second book in the Farm to Table Mysteries and I really really enjoyed this one a lot more than the first book. I give this book 4,5 stars.

Shiloh is barely scraping by on the farm's new organic business model and the fall festival she organized to drum up business comes to a screeching halt when the body of a prominent townswoman is discovered underneath a scarecrow in a nearby field. Worst of all, the evidence points to Shiloh's childhood best friend, Kristy, as the prime suspect.

This is a fun read with both an enjoyable mystery and some side drama going on. I didn’t figure out the mystery before Shiloh did and that is good.

In the previous book the characters were so mean to the heroine and that was something I didn’t like. That is luckily not the case in this book.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book because I wanna know more about the hidden treasure and how Shiloh is going to manage the farm.

Thank you NetGalley and Poison Pen Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second book in the Farm To Table series and boy does Shiloh still have her hands full. With little money and only some part-time help, she is determined to fix up the very run-down farm to be the place she remembers when she was a child. There isn't one building or field that doesn't need extensive work and I applaud her for being able to look past the problems and see a future she wants.
Her homecoming was not welcomed by everyone, but at least she can always count on her best friend Kristy. Well, that is until Kristy gets into a very public disagreement with Minnie Devoni at the Fall Daze festival held at Shiloh's farm. Minnie winds up murdered, and the Police Chief has one suspect, Kristy.
It seems in addition to Shiloh's maybe blossoming romance with Quinn, her competition from her new organic farming neighbor, Tanner, her dwindling funds, and about one million other pressing issues, she will need to find the real killer. Except for the whodunnit and why there were a lot of threads left hanging. I assume that is because of future books and there is certainly enough material for many more.
Shiloh is an interesting character, though I have to say she still has a ways to go to be a credible amateur sleuth. Everyone has to start somewhere though and I would like to see her grow in every aspect of her life.3.5 stars.

Put Out To Pasture is the second in the Farm To Table Mystery series. Shiloh Bellamy has returned to the family farm after years of working in Hollywood. She has a lot of work to do to save and turn her home into a thriving, organic farm. It's hard enough when you're low on funds but when a dead body shows up on your property in the middle of a fall festival created to generate funds and interest, you have to do your best to find the killer quickly. If that isn't enough her best friend is accused of the crime.

I love the concept of an organic farm. Shiloh's dog Huckleberry has to be the cutest name for a pet. I love farm pals Huckleberry and cat Esmeralda. I also loved all the discussion about bees.

The murder is creative if a little weird. I was happy I guessed the killer. The showdown with the murderer is a little abrupt. I don't feel there is enough momentum or tension leading up to it. The scene kind of just happens. I do like the assistance Shiloh receives in the scene and it fits with the overall quirkiness.

I wouldn't have minded the book being a little longer to flesh out some characters and expand on some things. I can see potential for future storylines and there is a plot point that I would like to see played out in another book.

She has retired from life as a Hollywood TV producer. She has moved back home to Western Michigan and is trying to put the family farm back together.
She has organized a fall festival for the farm which is a great success the first day...but at the end of that day a dead body is found. The woman found dead is a seller at the local farmers market.
She has bees and makes honey.
Shiloh's best friend had just gotten into a fight with the unpleasant woman because she was found to be stealing money from the farmer's market. So, of course, Shiloh has to keep investigating so that her best friend, Kristy is cleared of the crime.
Meanwhile, Shiloh has a lot of work do to to clean up the farm; get fields ready to plant and trim the cherry trees. Always chores to do.
Lots of interesting characters and a nice light mystery!

Shiloh is getting the hang of farming but there is still so much that needs fixing and not enough money to make it happen. She has organized a Fall Festival in hopes that it will bring in some much needed money. The Festival is going well with only a few hiccups when a body is found towards the end of the evening on the first day. It looks worse when all the evidence seems to point at Shiloh's best friend Kristy. There is so much going on that Shiloh isn't sure if she'll be able to investigate and help her friend. There's a new man in town that has purchased what use to be the other half of her farm and looks to be competition. The worry from that alone has been keeping her busy not to mention making sure her father stays out of trouble. The second day of the Festival was a bust and if the murder isn't found soon she's afraid it will do damage to the frame reputation. Follow along and see if Shiloh can keep her head above water and stop a killer at the same time.
