Hitchcock's Blondes: The Unforgettable Women Behind the Legendary Director's Dark Obsession by Laurence LeamerLaurence Leamer approaches the subject of Hitchcock's movies from the perspective of the blonde actresses that fascinated the director.
Interesting book, especially for film buffs. 3.5 stars

Now reading SAVAGE SEASON (1990) by Joe R. Lansdale, the first novel in his long running Hap Collins & Leonard Pine series.
I loved the deceptively titled (and covered) Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens by Shankari Chandran. It recently won the prestigious Miles Franklin Award, and no wonder. This is Australia.
My review of Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens
The Bridge
is a decent police procedural with a unique premise. My 3.5 star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Enjoy, Mike. 💕📚
Finished The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley.A bit of a low point in the middle, beginning and ending made up for it!
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Murder Book
by Thomas PerryChicago-based PI is tasked by his ex-wife, now a U.S. Attorney, to investigate a crime wave in a small Indiana town. As he does so it becomes clear that something much bigger is happening. Reminded me of the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child. I have read several books by Perry, who is now 76 years old and has been a first-rate writer for many years, but this one is so poorly done I believe it was ghost-written. I can't believe that Thomas Perry would produce such a second-rate book. 2 stars, not recommended.
A Cast of Falcons
is a cozy mystery with an old time feel to it. My 3.5 star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Peril at the Exposition
by Nev MarchIn this 'Captain Jim Agnihotri' historical mystery, private detective Jim Agnihotri and his wife Diana try to avert disaster at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.

I always enjoy Aussie 'national living treasure' Tim Winton's writing. His early collection of short stories, Minimum of Two, covers everything from childbirth to old age and the people we meet along the way.
My review of Minimum of Two
A Private Investigation
is the 8th in one of my favorite police procedural series. My five star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Assaulted Caramel
by Amanda FlowerIn this first book in the 'Amish Candy Shop Mystery' series, chocolatier/amateur sleuth Bailey King investigates the murder of a businessman.

I read The Lost English Girl by Julia Kelly It is historical fiction, set in England, from 1935 to 1952 and centered on the child evacuation program during WWII. I enjoyed it and recommend it to fans of historical fiction. My 4-star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My review of Miss Morton And The Spirits Of The Underworld by Catherine Lloyd

I finished The Body in Nightingale Park by Nick Louth
A wholly deserved four stars: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I loved Aussie author Benjamin Stevenson's quirky murder mystery Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone. I enjoyed the mix of humour, snowbound location, and clever plot presentation. Good audio, too.
My review of Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone
I finished The Elevator by Claire Cooper
A nice read, worth three stars: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've finished reading Penance by Eliza Clark, which is, I have to say, very nicely done, although it was maybe a bit too long. It's fiction (particularly meta in this case) centering around a horrific crime in England and how that particular event and the people involved were handled by various media including true-crime podcasters, etc. That's just the beginning of what's in this novel -- omg.
I recently finished
The Interpreter by Brooke RobinsonMy review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I am reading Calling The Wind by Clarence Major. Its a book of short stories. I skip around to whatever title attracts me. A Summer Tragedy by Arna Bontemps. Such a sad story, it takes place during the Thirties.
Listening to Crook Manifesto
was the perfect marriage of voice and words. My 4.5 star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A Generation of Vipers
is a worthy addition to the series. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Flux
by Jinwoo ChongThis debut novel is a multicultural, soft sci-fi story, with a character who experiences a 'Groundhog Day' like experience. (Remember that film with Bill Murray?)
Good speculative fiction. 4 stars

Currently working on This Other Eden by Paul Harding, the second Booker Prize longlist novel for me. I'm not enjoying it as much as I did Old God's Time, but I do like it.
Lethal Licorice
by Amanda FlowerIn this 'Amish Candy Shop Mystery', chocolatier/amateur sleuth Bailey King investigates the murder of an Amish woman.

The book is by one of the funniest authors ever but this one is not a comedy like the Dortmunder books are. It's actually a heist story about 2 New York cops who figure out how to .... well, no spoilers here. It's cute and light but certainly not Westlake's best. 3 stars.
