I recently finished
Exiles by Jane Harper the 3rd and (possibly) last in the Aaron Falk series that started with The Dry. I gave it 4 stars.My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Last week I finished The Lake House by Kate Morton. Thoroughly enjoyed this dual timeline story which focused on what happened to a missing child in 1933.
The Secret Hours
by Mick HerronIn this 'dramady thriller, England's prime minster decides to investigate the British Intelligence Service. A secret operation is exposed but this is essentially a compelling character study.

A Sydney brothel in 1930 may not sound like a YA setting, but I think teens would enjoy young Violet. Even the title, Violet Kelly and the Jade Owl, sounds good. It's a mystery with some local history by Aussie author Fiona Britton

I like this series.

Yesterday I finished Ubik, one of the best sci-fi books I read in the last years and definitively my favorite by Philip Dick.Now I'm reading Blood Stain, Volume 4.

The Man with no Time
by Timothy HallinanSimeon Grist #5, OK to read as a stand-alone. Simeon's good friends get caught up in the deadly L.A. Asian criminal underworld and Simeon has to help. Very fine thriller with Hallinan's copyrighted snarky comments emerging from Simeon's mouth. I must say I'm a big fan of all 3 of Tim Hallinan's series and I don't think he can write a boring book. 4 stars, highly recommended.

I seem to be late 'discovering' popular UK crime writer Mark Billingham. His new Detective Miller series, The Last Dance, has plenty of scope to move into the next book, which I look forward to. Declan Miller seems very human rather than hard-boiled. Funny. Sad.

Now starting NO GOOD DEED by James Swain (2019), the second novel in his thriller series featuring ex-Navy SEAL Jon Lancaster and FBI agent Beth Daniels.I read the first book in the series a few weeks ago and really liked it. I hope the sequel keeps the momentum going.
