PattyMacDotComma | 920 comments I loved Katherine Heiny's latest book, Games and Rituals: Stories. Unconnected stories ranging from imagining who taught Ted Bundy to drive (yikes!) to worrying if your wife's Marie Kondo decluttering is going to turf you out next. (Do you still spark joy?!) Thought-provoking as well as entertaining.

PattyMacDotComma | 920 comments As the title suggests, The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies is an amusing historical fiction about the daring adventures of twin aristocratic sisters who risk more than their reputations to rescue women living in desperately awful circumstances. Fun, but also dark.

Araych | 677 comments Wedding Station Wedding Station (John Russell, #0) by David Downing by David Downing

Prequel to the John Russell "station" series. Wedding is an area of Berlin. Feb. 27, 1933, the day of the Reichstag fire. The Nazis are now in power and crime reporter John Russell must find his way both professionally and personally. Very fine series done to a high standard. Clearly a great deal of research has gone into the writing but the action and suspense about what happens to the very real people in the book makes this series a real winner. I'm a big fan -- 4 stars.

Patty | 4459 comments I’m just starting The Last Remains. It is the 15th and last book of Elly Griffith’s Ruth Galloway series. What first attracted me to the books were its archeological aspects, and the chubby main character who was good at her job and desired by men.

It’s turned into a will they/won’t they romance that I am ready to be resolved (which I hope it does). It’s bittersweet, but it’s time.
