I love the Matthew Shardlake historical mystery series by C.J. Sansom. Lamentation is #6.

Christine Mathieu | 583 comments This sounds very intriguing!
As it was just published this month, I'll wait half a year before trying to request it from our public library.
Thank you for the tip.

So far I've read mostly autobiographies by German war brides and Georg Gaertner's autobiography on his time as a POW and his flight from the camp in order to not get repatriated to now communist Poland by the end of WW II. He then lived for 40 years undetected in the US...an incredibly thrilling story.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9970 comments Lessons in Chemistry Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus by Bonnie Garmus

You might think a book about chemists couldn't be comical, but you'd be wrong. This novel is wildly original and laugh-out-loud funny. It's about Elizabeth Zott, a chemist who has to negotiate male privilege and entitlement in the mid-1900s.

Very entertaining novel. 4.5 stars
