I read The Colors of All the Cattle by Alexander McCall Smith It is book 19 in this gentle, cozy mystery series, set in Botswana, Africa I recommend this series to cozy fans. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished We Know you Remember by Tove Alstdal. Excellent book. Five starshttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...
I just finished The Golden Spoon by Jessa Maxwell
I liked it because of the setting, the light mystery and the characters, including a couple of rather unexpected persons trying to solve the mystery: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
started reading From a Buick 8 by Stephen King
Luck and Judgement
is a solid police procedural. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finally finished All Quiet on the Western Front -- so very, very good. Also watched the film right after putting the book down - soooo well done.
All That Is Mine I Carry with Me
by William LandayWhen a mother of three disappears - and her husband is suspected of killing her - how do the children deal with the situation?
Good story. 3.5 stars

Killers of a Certain Age
by Deanna RaybourtVery entertaining novel about 4 60-something lady assassins who are R.E.D. A little over the top but lots of fun. 4 stars.
I haven't read that many books the last couple of months, but I am trying to get back at it!In this genre I have only read:
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides.
Many readers were especially enthusiastic about the ending and I am now one of them. Very good!
4 stars: a bit slow at times for me, but overall a very good thriller with an (for me) unexpected ending.
A taste for Vengeance
is another strong entry in the series. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read Lucky Girl by Irene Muchemi-Ndiritu It is literary fiction, a story of a young woman who comes from Kenya, Africa to study at a US University. I enjoyed it and recommend it. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...I believe it important to warn readers of controversial issues covered in the book and this list triggered a spoiler alert notice added to my review for the very first time. I wasn't aware that GR did this until now. I knew that I could warn about spoiler alerts, but not that GR would add it to my review. I try to always post non spoiler reviews.
Feel free to comment.
I was pretty sure that The Bullet That Missed would actually hit the mark. Of course I enjoyed Richard Osman's unusual Thursday Murder Club of elderly sleuths. Wonderful characters, actual danger.
5★ My review of The Bullet That Missed
Wow,
Thirty Days in Paris By Veronica Henry just blew me away, would give 6* if I could. Not a thriller, but thrilled me!!Here's my review:

I'm currently reading A Helping Hand by Celia Dale (Valancourt) from 1966. Oh my god. This is dark. The other book I read by her, A Dark Corner is darker than dark, bleaker than bleak but a good read.
I finished a highly celebrated Hard-Boiled mystery
The Last Good Kiss by James Crumley
Rating: 4 stars

I just finished reading The Kitchen Front / Jennifer Ryan, an interesting, yet predictable history of food rationing during the Second World war. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
Persons of Interest
is a fun and smart police procedural. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The first
book in Don Winslow's modern gangster trilogy, City on Fire is an epic crime novel. Here's my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished A Helping Hand by Celia Dale. After all that the author put the central character through, the ending came up too quickly and was way too rushed. Up until then it was pretty good.
Currently about to read Strega by Johanne Lykke Holm.

How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia NagamatsuThe book is structured as a series of connected stories that explore people's response to a deadly virus released from the Arctic tundra because of global warming. Goodreads lists it as one of the best sci-fi novels of 2022.
It's pretty good, but I'd call it sci-fi lite. 3.5 stars

The Harlan Coben stand alone thrillers never fail to provide a fast-paced search that usually involves a missing loved one. Run Away is no exception and the unexpected twists are plentiful. Here's my review of

By urban fantasy author Leigh Bardugo,
Hell Bent #2 in the Alex Stern eventually-to-be trilogy. There's plenty of murderous mayhem for fans of crime fiction.
It's been a while since I had read a novel that completely gripped me from the beginning. It only took 7 pages for Hell Bent to sink its claws into me.
I've got to look into the Grishaverse now.

This is a new book and I think it will win a bunch of awards. Completely original, very entertaining, lots of humor, and the plot! Twists and turns o'plenty. The book revolves around a family reunion that goes from weird to worse. I loved it -- 5 stars.
