This is another good sci-fi story from Amazon's The Far Reaches collection. Falling Bodies by Rebecca Roanhorse has a more advanced "offshore detention" than what is currently used.
My review of Falling Bodies
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRueI know I'm late to the party, but I just finished The Invisible Life of Addie Larue
My Review
I gave it two stars. I know a lot of people loved it. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.
Here what I read last 4 weeks since its been supper hot here to do anythingGR Giveaway Review https://shannonbooks197.livejournal.com/
Now on to books and on Libby Some of these are 5 Stars read and few or 3 or 4 stars
I finished
Dark Corners. It was a great addition to the series. No second book slump here. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Still reading a few different books, but hoping to finish a couple soon and be back to my typical two at a time.
I also finished The Connellys of County Down, which I loved. I also loved We Are the Brennans by the same author.
my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Reading the Game of Thrones series for the 3rd. time. Just started the 5th. book of the series titled A Dance of Dragons. Since it was published in 2011, and the final 2 books have yet to appear, I doubt that the author, George R.R. Martin, intends to finish the series as originally intended. The HBO TV series, based upon the books, created its own final two installments, including a controversial ending,
A Sydney brothel in 1930 may not sound like a YA setting, but I think teens would enjoy young Violet. Even the title, Violet Kelly and the Jade Owl, sounds good. It's a mystery with some local history by Aussie author Fiona Britton
My review of Violet Kelly and the Jade Owl

Crime Thriller
This one has plenty of action and suspense along with fantastic characters and a well-written plot.

My Review"
That's okay. I loved Addie Larue, but I have read several Taylor Jenkins Reid books and have yet to see what all the fuss is about.
Here is my 3.01 rounded to 3 stars review of Goodbye Paris
by Mike Bond:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Political Thriller
While the story is action packed, I never truly connected with the main character. It was entertaining and interesting, but I'm an outlier with just 3 stars. If interested in the book, I recommend reading some of the 4 and 5 star reviews.
Here is my 4.12 rounded to 4 stars review of Dead of Winter
by Darcy Coates:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The author does a good job of balancing the shocking events against the mystery of determining who to trust and who is the killer. Exceptional characters, intense fight scenes, bitter cold, snow, ice, horrible deaths, and an absorbing plot are combined with a protagonist who is far from perfect and a killer with one or more unknown motives. The story has plenty of layers and is quite dark and horrifying at times.
I seem to be late 'discovering' popular UK crime writer Mark Billingham. His new Detective Miller series, The Last Dance, has plenty of scope to move into the next book, which I look forward to. Declan Miller seems very human rather than hard-boiled. Funny. Sad.
My review of The Last Dance
Here is my 3.81 rounded to 4 stars review of What Still Burns
by Elle Grawl:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Overall, this psychological thriller was engaging and atmospheric with action, suspense, and a bit of a romance. However, I wanted a little more character depth and a more detailed ending.
I finished Gone Tonight, which publishes today. It was interesting and engaging. You had to suspend your disbelief at times, but I was ok with that. It was more of a mystery starting out and you are slowly given bits of the mom's history. The end is where the twists and thriller parts come in. I enjoyed the slow build more than the 'big twists', but that is just my personal preference. If half stars were allowed, I might have considered going down to 3.5 stars, but only because I'm not of fan of (view spoiler)

Kristie wrote: "I am currently reading The Space Between and starting The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches."I enjoyed the irregular witches, Kristie. It may depend on your mood how it strikes you. I look forward to your opinion!
I recently read Jhumpa Lahiri's wonderful Pulitzer Prize winner, Interpreter of Maladies, a collection of short stories that mix and stir Indian cultures with others. No matter who people are or where they live, couples are couples, parents are parents, and everyone has customs they can't always explain.
My review of Interpreter of Maladies
Just Out of Jupiter's Reach by Nnedi Okorafor is another intriguing sci-fi story from Amazon's The Far Reaches collection. The astronaut and space ship share DNA, which must be a first!
My review of Just Out of Jupiter's Reach
Here is my 4.63 rounded to 5 stars review of The Bridge
by Matt Brolly:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Police Procedural / British crime drama
Overall, this was a gripping, gritty, and chilling story with complex characters. It’s intense and dramatic and kept me turning the pages. It’s also my favorite of the series.

The thriller, The Chalk Man, was a much-hyped debut by C.J. Tudor when it came out a few years ago, and today I needed a horror for a challenge. Yes, there's some creepy stuff.
My review of The Chalk Man
John Scalzi's short sci-fi story, Slow Time Between the Stars, is more than a little worrying, as he imagines what Artificial Intelligence could do by itself when we turn it loose.
My review of Slow Time Between the Stars
Here is my 4.52 rounded to 5 stars review of Wide Awake
by Steven Konkoly:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Political / Military Thriller
Konkoly is an outstanding storyteller who kept me on the edge of my seat with gripping scenes, action, a superb plot, and fantastic writing. His military background brings an authenticity to his thrillers. He does a great job of balancing the shocking action scenes against the intrigue of the conspiracy plot and the planning of countermeasures.

Romantic Suspense
This is the second book in the New Orleans romantic suspense series that is also partly a police procedural and a private investigator crime novel.
The prologue immediately grabbed my attention and the story continues with action, investigation by both the police and the private investigation firm, and plenty of twists and turns. The novel builds suspense in a way that pulls readers into the lives of the characters. The plot is full of chasing down leads and interviewing people as well as plenty of danger for those involved.

me too, and this series is great
Rereading Pawsitively Poisonous
by Melissa Erin Jackson before reading the next two to this fun series.
I loved the deceptively titled (and covered) Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens by Shankari Chandran. It recently won the prestigious Miles Franklin Award, and no wonder. This is Australia.
My review of Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens
I finished
The Space Between. It didn't grab me right away and it is a bit long so I was worried that it would drag, but the I couldn't put it down the second half. my Space Between review ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Here is my 3.78 rounded to 4 stars review of Wedding Bells Brew Murder
by Carolyn Arnold:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Overall, I enjoyed this novel, which was engaging, entertaining, and humorous. While it’s very different from the other series I have read by this author, I found the writing style relatable, vivid, and irresistible.
I always enjoy Aussie 'national living treasure' Tim Winton's writing. His early collection of short stories, Minimum of Two, covers everything from childbirth to old age and the people we meet along the way.
My review of Minimum of Two
I finished November 9 by Colleen Hoover today. Can’t really wrap my head around my thoughts about it. It wasn’t too bad and it was fast pace, but at the same time I feel like too much was going on and that the book was like a bad copy of Colleens other books?? Like the manuscript and the letters just made me think of Verity, and then i prefer Verity lol. But idk, I still gave it 3 stars. Now I’ve just started Stolen Tongues by Felix Blackwell and I’m very excited about it! Hopefully it will be at least a bit scary.
I loved Aussie author Benjamin Stevenson's quirky murder mystery Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone. I enjoyed the mix of humour, snowbound location, and clever plot presentation. Good audio, too.
My review of Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone
Here is my 4.26 rounded to 4 stars review of Cave 13
by Jonathan Maberry:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Action / Military Thriller
Overall, this novel is a shockingly dark, disturbing, and an emotional ride. Once again Maberry hooked me with the fascinating prologue than pulled me immediately into the story.

Historical Romance with some suspense
Overall, this was an entertaining and fun novel that kept me engaged throughout the book. While the novel is somewhat predictable, I felt connected to the story and wanted Jane and Christopher to work through their issues.
