Historical Romance with some suspense

Overall, this was an entertaining and fun novel that kept me engaged throughout the book. While the novel is somewhat predictable, I felt connected to the story and wanted Jane and Christopher to work through their issues.

PattyMacDotComma This is another good sci-fi story from Amazon's The Far Reaches collection. Falling Bodies by Rebecca Roanhorse has a more advanced "offshore detention" than what is currently used.

Jim Vuksic Reading the Game of Thrones series for the 3rd. time. Just started the 5th. book of the series titled A Dance of Dragons. Since it was published in 2011, and the final 2 books have yet to appear, I doubt that the author, George R.R. Martin, intends to finish the series as originally intended.

The HBO TV series, based upon the books, created its own final two installments, including a controversial ending,

Political Thriller

While the story is action packed, I never truly connected with the main character. It was entertaining and interesting, but I'm an outlier with just 3 stars. If interested in the book, I recommend reading some of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

PamG (lynguy1) | 1025 comments Here is my 4.12 rounded to 4 stars review of Dead of Winter Dead of Winter by Darcy Coates by Darcy Coates:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The author does a good job of balancing the shocking events against the mystery of determining who to trust and who is the killer. Exceptional characters, intense fight scenes, bitter cold, snow, ice, horrible deaths, and an absorbing plot are combined with a protagonist who is far from perfect and a killer with one or more unknown motives. The story has plenty of layers and is quite dark and horrifying at times.

PattyMacDotComma I seem to be late 'discovering' popular UK crime writer Mark Billingham. His new Detective Miller series, The Last Dance, has plenty of scope to move into the next book, which I look forward to. Declan Miller seems very human rather than hard-boiled. Funny. Sad.

Kristie | 5928 comments I finished Gone Tonight, which publishes today. It was interesting and engaging. You had to suspend your disbelief at times, but I was ok with that. It was more of a mystery starting out and you are slowly given bits of the mom's history. The end is where the twists and thriller parts come in. I enjoyed the slow build more than the 'big twists', but that is just my personal preference. If half stars were allowed, I might have considered going down to 3.5 stars, but only because I'm not of fan of (view spoiler)

Political / Military Thriller

Konkoly is an outstanding storyteller who kept me on the edge of my seat with gripping scenes, action, a superb plot, and fantastic writing. His military background brings an authenticity to his thrillers. He does a great job of balancing the shocking action scenes against the intrigue of the conspiracy plot and the planning of countermeasures.

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Romantic Suspense
This is the second book in the New Orleans romantic suspense series that is also partly a police procedural and a private investigator crime novel.

The prologue immediately grabbed my attention and the story continues with action, investigation by both the police and the private investigation firm, and plenty of twists and turns. The novel builds suspense in a way that pulls readers into the lives of the characters. The plot is full of chasing down leads and interviewing people as well as plenty of danger for those involved.

Vendela Åstrand | 1 comments I finished November 9 by Colleen Hoover today. Can’t really wrap my head around my thoughts about it. It wasn’t too bad and it was fast pace, but at the same time I feel like too much was going on and that the book was like a bad copy of Colleens other books?? Like the manuscript and the letters just made me think of Verity, and then i prefer Verity lol. But idk, I still gave it 3 stars.

Now I’ve just started Stolen Tongues by Felix Blackwell and I’m very excited about it! Hopefully it will be at least a bit scary.
