I can relate, Vicki. I'm really behind right now. I feel like all my books publish at the same time. I have a face-to-face book club tomorrow night and I just put aside three different reads so I could start it today. Chances are slim that I can read the whole thing on time, but I at least want to be working on it!

Yes, 2nd grade. What about you?
We used to start after Labor Day. Last year we started August 29. This year we start August 21. And next year we start August 15. Each year summer gets cut by a week.
We will get out earlier but here August and September are extremely hot and ugly and we rather have vacation then. The district doesn't let us control the air conditioning so it is miserable in August, September for the kids.
Air conditioning in schools is pretty new in my district in the first place.

Oh geez, that sounds awful, Vicki! I wonder why they keep making it earlier and then having everyone sit in that heat (or at least warm rooms).

That's crap, Vicki. It also makes it harder for the kids to pay attention and learn when they are overheated. Plus, you need to worry about the hydration and health of over-heated kids. They shouldn't make you start earlier unless they are planning to use the AC appropriately.

I teach kindergarten. I go back AUGUST 7!! this year. And like you said, I do get out a week earlier but I would rather have the time off at this end of the year.

Which I was interested in after seeing the Netflix show about the family. Insanely entitled and awful people, but did they deserve to be killed by the father?? Trainwreck where you can't look away, but feel awkward about delving into someone else pain.

Did anyone get The Only One Left? It published in June and somehow I already got it from my library. Am also listening on audio.

And lastly, I just got Bye, Baby. It is currently a READ NOW and doesn't publish until March 2024, but I have read 2 others by her and rated one 5 stars and one 4 stars, so check it out.

Oh Yes! The end of August. I was thinking we are in the beginning of August. I think August is going to be a month because I keep adding books to it. I now have 6 publishing in August! That is a lot for me!

I can relate. My August was a lot too, but most of mine were early month publications (the 1st & 8th) and I've either read or am reading them now. I do have one that published yesterday that I am still trying to read (no buddy, so didn't prioritize it enough. lol) and some older publications I'm still trying to catch up on. I've been really trying not to add more August publications, but there were some really good ones!
