Rachel (mimbza) | 697 comments Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys Wide Sargasso Sea by Dominican author Jean Rhys is a retelling of Jane Eyre, giving Mr Rochester’s mad wife her own story with some humanity and explanation. It takes place in Jamaica and Dominica in the 1830s after the end of slavery. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review

Rachel (mimbza) | 697 comments The Library by Bella Osborne The Library by English author Bella Osborne is a feel good story where young meets old. Struggling 16-year-old Tom Harris meets feisty septuagenarian Maggie at the library and together they take on the council who are trying to shut the library down. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review

Carolyn | 9840 comments My review for Murder By Fire (DI Hillary Greene, #10) by Faith Martin Murder By Fire by Faith Martin, #10 in her DI Hilary Greene series. Not my favourite of the series but a lot going on with Hilary and the members of her team indicating some changes ahead.

Carolyn | 9840 comments Where the Dead Sleep by Joshua Moehling Where the Dead Sleep by Joshua Moehling is a very enjoyable character driven murder mystery. Set in a small town, with a very likeable deputy sheriff with a wry sense of humour.

Carolyn | 9840 comments I found Dark Corners (Rachel Krall, #2) by Megan Goldin Dark Corners by AA Megan Goldin about a missing social media influencer a bit slow to get started (and social influencers very annoying) but enjoyed the book more as the plot thickened.

Rachel (mimbza) | 697 comments The Cloud Leopard's Daughter (The Smuggler's Wife #4) by Deborah Challinor The Cloud Leopard's Daughter by New Zealand author Deborah Challinor is the fourth and final book in The Smuggler’s Wife series. It is an adventure on the high seas, sailing pirate ships from New Zealand to Sydney to the opium dens of China in the 1860s. Here is my review

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments The thriller, The Chalk Man, was a much-hyped debut by C.J. Tudor when it came out a few years ago, and today I needed a horror for a challenge. Yes, there's some creepy stuff.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments John Scalzi's short sci-fi story, Slow Time Between the Stars, is more than a little worrying, as he imagines what Artificial Intelligence could do by itself when we turn it loose.

A lovely book that I would have liked even better had I not read another novel with a similar storyline.

Carolyn | 9840 comments The Fine Art of Uncanny Prediction by Robert Goddard The Fine Art of Uncanny Prediction is the second book in Robert Goddard's Umiko Wada series, featuring a middle aged Japanese widow who becomes a PI after the investigator she keeps office for is killed. Not a cosy mystery, the plot is quite complex but well done.
