Two more reviews (I'm trying to tackle my NetGalley backlog!):
Day's End (Hirschhausen #4) by Garry Disher Review here
A Mischief of Rats (Nell Ward #3) by Sarah Yarwood-Lovett Review here
Wide Sargasso Sea by Dominican author Jean Rhys is a retelling of Jane Eyre, giving Mr Rochester’s mad wife her own story with some humanity and explanation. It takes place in Jamaica and Dominica in the 1830s after the end of slavery. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review
The Charity Shop Detectives are back to solve another case in The Beach Hut Murders, over a stinking hot English summer.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Library by English author Bella Osborne is a feel good story where young meets old. Struggling 16-year-old Tom Harris meets feisty septuagenarian Maggie at the library and together they take on the council who are trying to shut the library down. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review
It's been a while coming but Adrian McKinty's latest thriller in his terrific Sean Duffy series was definitely worth waiting for.

Murder By Fire by Faith Martin, #10 in her DI Hilary Greene series. Not my favourite of the series but a lot going on with Hilary and the members of her team indicating some changes ahead.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Where the Dead Sleep by Joshua Moehling is a very enjoyable character driven murder mystery. Set in a small town, with a very likeable deputy sheriff with a wry sense of humour.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Remember, Mr Sharma by A.P. Firdaus
Indian historical fiction with a talking vulture. Interested? ;)

I found
Dark Corners by AA Megan Goldin about a missing social media influencer a bit slow to get started (and social influencers very annoying) but enjoyed the book more as the plot thickened.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Still glides the stream is the third episode in the audiobook series by Australian author Nancy Cato. I can’t say I enjoyed this one overly. ⭐⭐ my review
The Cloud Leopard's Daughter by New Zealand author Deborah Challinor is the fourth and final book in The Smuggler’s Wife series. It is an adventure on the high seas, sailing pirate ships from New Zealand to Sydney to the opium dens of China in the 1860s. Here is my review
The thriller, The Chalk Man, was a much-hyped debut by C.J. Tudor when it came out a few years ago, and today I needed a horror for a challenge. Yes, there's some creepy stuff.
My review of The Chalk Man
My review for
Read to Death at the Lakeside Library by Holly Danvers

John Scalzi's short sci-fi story, Slow Time Between the Stars, is more than a little worrying, as he imagines what Artificial Intelligence could do by itself when we turn it loose.
My review of Slow Time Between the Stars
My review for Second Chances in Bellbird Bay Maggie Christensen

I'm a bit late to the party with Horse by Geraldine Brooks, but wow, was it ever worth the wait! Her enthralling sixth novel is probably her best yet. 5★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Last List of Mabel Beaumont by Laura Pearson
A lovely book that I would have liked even better had I not read another novel with a similar storyline.

My review of

The Fine Art of Uncanny Prediction is the second book in Robert Goddard's Umiko Wada series, featuring a middle aged Japanese widow who becomes a PI after the investigator she keeps office for is killed. Not a cosy mystery, the plot is quite complex but well done.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
