Frustration is...Reading a book with 497 pages.

Right? I don't mind when it's 350 pages, but if they're gonna write a longer book, they should commit and make sure it goes over the next hundred. Don't they think about challenges? Rude! lol.
Before I was on GR, I never would have thought such things, Sammy. Now I look at books and wonder why anyone would even think of choosing a cover that isn't at least 50% of an UNO color, or like you say writing those extra pages to get a book to 400 or 500. So funny!

Only Bonus tasks have time limits or requirements and will be mentioned in the posts.
Jackie,We do not have to do the months in order. You can skip all around if that works best for you. You can still be working on Capricorn in November if need be.
Personally, I'm trying to check authors who have birthdays for each of the signs and get them on my TBR list, so I have some idea of books I'll want to read. Last time I played I just fit things in as I read them. I'm a planner...you don't need to do that if it's not your style.

Sounds good. If you look at my message https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/.... Messages 25 and 26, you can see the books I've read and how they're spread out. I only post them here when they're finished, but on my planning sheet I have lots of books designated to tasks waiting to read.
Ashley - question - the rules say Each book can be used TWICE to complete the challenge if desired, but you can also complete the challenge without repeating the books.
Here is my question - if I compete the challenge with the same number of page points and bonus points as you but I read more books than you, we would finish in the same place according to the formula on the member tracking SS. So there is no benefit to not repeating books since the number of books does not come into play in calculating total points. Am I understanding this correctly?
I took it to mean you could use a book for two tasks, but you only get the points once as it's the same book..?

It is, of course, up to you as to how you want to do your challenge!
I will add a "no repeating book bonus" to the rules, so that there is a small incentive to only use one book per task.

If you complete the challenge without repeating a book, you can add 5 bonus points to your total. Additionally, each section that you complete with one book per task, will give you 2 bonus points.

Yes, if you can find a way to make a book fit twice, it's fair game. You may also use the HOB Formal Buddy Read books twice, but you can only collect the bonus points once! Does that make sense?
Yes, the bonus helps.For those of us that do read a lot, it is super frustrating when challenges are done so quickly, so a longer challenge is much more fun. But without an incentive to not double up tasks (I originally thought the incentive for people who read less was that by doubling up they could still get the completion bonuses, but only one set of page points per book), it is better to double up on books (especially the longer ones), which then takes away the longer aspect of the game again.
There still is a huge advantage to those of us that read longer books to double up this way, but at least there's a little incentive not to :)

I'm currently reading Miller's Valley and struggling a bit with it. It's about a valley that floods often and is going to be flooded by the government for a reservoir.
I've downloaded
, which takes place in 1900. It's the deadliest hurricane in Galveston, TX. I really like some other books the author has written, so hoping it's gripping and a quick read. I plan to start reading it on my plane trip to Denver on Tuesday to meet our new grandbaby.

Sorry it's a struggle for you. I love Anna Quindlen, but haven't read that one. I probably would have chosen it, if I knew it existed. Hopefully it's just a slow start and will improve.

I am not disliking the Anna Quindlen book, it's just slow to start and I don't feel connected to the characters yet. It's building though. I feel like I'm on the verge of something, so hopefully, we will get there!
I read A Suitable Boy, which I really enjoyed. There was one "violent storm", and several monsoons (the book is set in India and takes place over a few years).Congrats on the grand-baby Nanci! :D
