#40
Four Texts on Socrates: Euthyphro/Apology/Crito/Aristophanes' Clouds ~ currently reading

This book has multiple authors including Aristophanes as mentioned in the subtitle but the main character in all of the stories should be Socrates.

Celeste (celesteryr) | 488 comments It is suggested that I read a couple different books in order to prepare for upcoming events, where I get to meet the poets/authors.

Ice Hours by Marion Starling Boyer #51

Below Zero by Carol V Davis #3

A Beautiful Marsupial Afternoon: New (Soma)tics by C.A. Conrad #44

Antes Que Isla Es Volcán / Before Island Is Volcano by Raquel Salas Rivera #25

Edit: I ended up reading while they sleep (under the bed is another country) by Raquel Salas Rivera. Here is an edition of their book that has page numbers included: While They Sleep.

Celeste (celesteryr) | 488 comments Finished listening to The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie. My first book of hers.

I think if I want to get to 52 books, it will need to manga (always) and other reads/listens that I can just storm through.

Edit: #14 - A book with a con, deception, or fake.

message 64: by Celeste (last edited Jun 09, 2023 04:07PM) (new)

Celeste (celesteryr) | 488 comments I just finished listening to And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie.

It was a double-feature with The Secret Adversary. It was much shorter than I expected for one of "the greats" but that could just be because I listen through with almost no breaks. :)

#24 - A character that might be called a Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, or Spy.

message 65: by Celeste (last edited Jun 25, 2023 11:23AM) (new)

Celeste (celesteryr) | 488 comments I previously finished The Mysterious Affair at Styles a couple days ago. (It seems that I forgot to mention that here. Yeesh.) I also finished The Murder on the Links, which is book #2 to Styles' #1.
My only comment? GOSH!!! Hastings is such... ARGH! He falls in love so quickly. Well, I guess he's being honest. I would not fare much better.

I haven't decided where I will put them.

Edit: #8 - An author's debut book (The Mysterious Affair at Styles)

message 67: by Celeste (last edited Oct 02, 2023 06:19PM) (new)

Celeste (celesteryr) | 488 comments Finally finished Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Cather on September 22nd. It took nearly a month just to listen to so as a physical book it must take quite long to read.

message 68: by Celeste (new)

Celeste (celesteryr) | 488 comments I probably will only finish 1 to 2 books before November. Most likely, they will be If We Were Villains and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.

#19 - A book related to the arts (If We Were Villains)

#43 - A book that involves a murder (The Murder of Roger Ackroyd)

message 69: by Celeste (last edited Oct 18, 2023 11:26AM) (new)

Celeste (celesteryr) | 488 comments I finished The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.
I also finished The Big Four, also by Agatha Christie.

I also started Naomi by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki. About a third of the way.

I am trying to finish that and If We Were Villains, however, my focus will be on The Secrets of Mariko: A Year in the Life of a Japanese Woman and Her Family and Black Coffee.

#36 - A book that has been translated from another language (Naomi)
