No hurry! I figured I'd start the thread and we can relive our favorite parts of the first two books :)

Warning: possible spoilers
The Field Day ambush on El-Wow, somehow I missed seeing that coming. It makes sense now, but at the time I did not expect the Shanghai group to turn on New York so violently.
I am trying to "like:" the idea of El's. to create smaller enclaves that can pull some of the power from the large ones. The idea seems so unattainable, and just a teen-age dream to me.
I did love the cliff-hanger at the end and am just as excited as you
to see what happens

The cliff hangers are killer though!!

I have so many favorite parts but I think my favorite was how El did all the training runs to help so many classmates. Shanghai aside. :)

I’m so glad you got it! I’m really interested to hear what you both think!

I am past chapter 8-and I will admit, I have had this site up on my phone the whole time https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...- to jar my memory

I went with 4 stars but seriously considered 3. I did not like it near as much as I liked the first two books. I think I would order them:
1. The Last Graduate
2. A Deadly Education
3. The Golden Enclaves

The Last Graduate is the only one that got 5 stars from me, the other two 4 stars. But like you Charlotte I gave serious thought to 3-3 1/2 stars for this one. El's voice drove me mad.
Novik is already working on her new book, no pub. date yet but I am already working up a longing for it. She is one of my favorite writers.

I think I had the same issue as you although I didn't call it El's voice. It was just too much detail or build up or something. It was just going on and on, but rethinking it, it really was El's voice and her thinking through and ponder of things that I was like... come on... let's get going!

I've only read this trilogy and the first in the Temeraire series from her so far. I would like to continue more with Temeraire. I'm slightly more hesitant on the retellings somehow.

This is the third book in The Scholomance series.
1. A Deadly Education
2. The Last Graduate
I JUST bought the book off of Amazon and it'll get here Sat. I own hardcovers of the first two, so this will complete the set. I can 100% see myself reading them again in a few years.
I figure I'll start the conversation off with a none third book related question to get us going.
If you've read of the first two books, which was your favorite?
I like aspects about both of them but I really liked the 2nd. It was so entertaining and I loved how they rallied around El. I really like how strong she is portrayed.
