What YA fiction are you reading at the moment?

It doesn't need to be the book of the month for this group (when that kicks in).

Do you like it, so far? Would you recommend it?

Kay | 43 comments Just finished The Webster Grove Series (Webster Grove, #1-5) by Tracie Puckett a romance, it was sweet. It's a compilation of novellas not sure what the deal is with novellas as it simply read as a good book. Just started Halo (Halo, #1) by Alexandra Adornetto (pb) and Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant (ebook).

I'm currently reading The Hobbit and I have to say I'm enjoying so far. I'm not quite sure if The Hobbit is considered Children's lit or YA.

I'm reading The Palace of Laughter (The Wednesday Tales, #1) by Jon Berkeley , which is slightly on the young side of YA fiction, but I'm genuinely enjoying it and I look forward to the rest of the series.

I've also got The Captain's Wife by Douglas Kelley set aside to re-read, but that's adult fiction and will come after the March BOTM for this group :)

A very good point Kay LOL. Hmm, Defiance looks interesting. I particularly like the book cover and it's always nice reading books with strong female characters :D

Just finished. Loved it. It's a trilogy but that was quite satisfying so I might bask in its aftermath and go back to it latter on :)
Romance and action fix satisfied what next????

I've just started InterWorld (InterWorld, #1) by Neil Gaiman . This is the second book I've read by Neil Gaiman (though this one was co-authored by Michael Reaves) and I'm liking how unique the wakadu universe is in this book.

Has anyone else read anything by Gaiman? I've read Coraline by Neil Gaiman and I've seen the Mirrormask movie. Is everything that Gaiman writes in a fascinatingly wonky style in alternative worlds/universes? I'm curious.

Kay | 43 comments Okay, are books like Beautiful Disaster Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1) by Jamie McGuire considered YA here? I know it's leaning more towards NA territory but its still about teenagers and young adults. Well anyway. I've read this and Walking Disaster. Great big love story about two damaged people. It's the same story from her POV then his. His is funnier. Let me know if this kind of books appropriate for this book club. :)

Lord of the rings trilogy still My favourite. Gripping, action, tears, love. Before the movies people would say enjoy the journey. Like it was a secret club of those who knew. ;) great one to read aloud. My partner and I read the whole lot to each other passing the book back and forth when we couldn't read fast enough. So basically ENJOY! :)

Thanks Kay! I can see how they would be good books to read aloud. Tolkien was a fantastic storyteller:) I'm really enjoying the first one and while I am a big fan of the movies I'm quite stunned at how different the books are from them.

I've never read Beautiful Disaster so I don't know if it is or not, but I just did a quick online search and lots of people classify it as young adult, so I'm gonna say it is :D Sometimes it's hard to know in what categories some books land.

Hi again, Kay!

What do you think of "The Girl Who Fell: The Story of Chess Raven" so far?

I just finished "Girl in Pieces" and I have to admit that I feel a little messed up from it. It was very good but definitely a difficult read. I'm reading our book of the month and listening to "The Sun is Also a Star" audiobook at the moment.
