Team Cranberry, it's time to fill those cornucopias with our autumn harvest!

You will work to fill each cornucopia using the prompts provided. You can read to fill them in any order you'd like, and you can refill the same ones multiple times.

Each book read may only be used for one prompt per team challenge. Don't forget about your acorns! You get some for every 1000 pages read (or 15 hours of audio listed to).

ACORNS

- Earn an acorn for every 1000 pages read as a team.
- Earn an acorn for every 15 hours of audio listened to.

Note: Acorns must be accrued to fill the cornucopias. Once you complete a cornucopia, those acorns should not be used on future cornucopias.

CORNUCOPIA #1

- Accrue 3 acorns +

Complete all four prompts:
- A book with a majority orange cover
- A book that is 400+ pages
- A book featuring an animal in the story
- A book that was published in the fall (September, October, or November)

CORNUCOPIA #2

- Accrue 3 acorns +

Complete all four prompts:
- A dystopian novel
- A book with a majority red cover
- A book with a person's first name in the title
- A book set in or about nature (forest, camping, environmental literature, etc.)

CORNUCOPIA #3

- Accrue 3 acorns +

Complete all four prompts:
- A book set in a school
- A book featuring a ghost
- A book with a black and white cover
- A book by an author who is not alive anymore

CORNUCOPIA #4

- Accrue 3 acorns +

Complete all four prompts:
- A book set in the 1900s
- A book about family dynamics
- A book with a majority yellow cover
- A magical realism novel

CORNUCOPIA #5

- Accrue 3 acorns +

Complete all four prompts:
- A mystery or thriller
- A book that features sports
- A book with an item of food on the cover
- A young adult novel

Elizabeth (elizabeth1234561) | 224 comments Hey folks! Can't wait to get started. These challenges have put me in such a cozy fall mood, despite it still being pretty hot outside.

It is still hitting above 100 degree heat index over here, so I'm using this challenge to manifest a cold front haha!

Elizabeth (elizabeth1234561) | 224 comments We've got rain and some 60 degree days coming through the weekend so I'm pretty excited. Back in the 80s after that though but I'll take what I can get!

We have had a couple days in Nashville with highs in the low 80s and no humidity. Supposedly rain for the weekend which may mean the softball and soccer games I would attend won't happen.

Edie | 1148 comments Welcome Team Cranberry! Depending on where you live, the read-a-thon may be about to start for you. Where is everyone located? I live in Nashville, Tennessee.

Please add your pages read and hours listened to on the team spreadsheet.

Let's have some fun. Go Cranberries!

Kathy E | 3334 comments I’m looking forward to reading with all of you. I’m in central Wisconsin where it’s sunny and supposed to reach 82 degrees today, but tomorrow is rainy and a high of 62!

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
I think most of us are in the central time zone!

message 9: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizabeth1234561) | 224 comments I'm also in central Wisconsin!

message 10: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1148 comments Great to see that several of you have put books on the planning tab. That gives us a view of which cornucopias we have covered and where there is overlap.

message 11: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3334 comments That's great Elizabeth!

message 12: by Lois (new)

Lois Anderson | 56 comments Hi guys! So excited to do this read a thon with you! I will add some books to the planning page soon. I am in Missouri, just west of St Louis.

message 13: by Becky (new)

Becky | 53 comments Hi all, looking forward to this! I'm in the SF Bay Area, so I'm apparently a Pacific-time weirdo in this crew. :)

message 14: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
Oops, Becky, you're right. We did have quite a few from the PST time zone so they are a bit more scattered! Shouldn't be a bother though.

I'm in Louisiana, where it is still hot and muggy and a million degrees, but no hurricanes yet this year so I'll take what I can get.

message 15: by Kellie Lyn (new)

Kellie Lyn | 211 comments Hello everyone, (I am ditching my AP Lang class to say hello. They are comparing presidential speeches in groups so I am not needed.) I am in Houston and excited for the week. I have several books that will fit into these prompts and will write on the spreadsheet this evening when I get home. Guess I should go help with speech analysis. Looking forward to a great reading week.

message 16: by Lois (new)

Lois Anderson | 56 comments Ok I added 3 books to the spreadsheet. I saw we didn't have much for Orange cover so I pulled a book for that. My next read Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid could potentially cover several slots. I'm excited to get started!

message 17: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
Hey Kellie Lyn, always fun to have another high school teacher in the group!

message 18: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1148 comments Emily, Lois' post raises a question. Can two different people read the same book for different prompts? I have Carrie Soto is Back slotted for the sports prompt. Lois is right it fits a number of prompts... and I hadn't even thought of it for orange. I guess that is my TN background that thinks of the University of TN orange where I hear orange.

message 19: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1148 comments Kelly, Lois' post raises a question. Is it okay for two people to read the same book.. but count it for different prompts? I am reading Carrie Soto is Back and thought I would use it for the sports prompt. Lois is right, there are several places it could go. As TN resident, I think U of Tennessee orange when I see orange, but the book surely fits there too.

message 20: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
Yes! You just can't have the same person read the same book and use it for two different prompts. But if two different people read the same book, that's fine.

Edie | 1148 comments Emily wrote: "Yes! You just can't have the same person read the same book and use it for two different prompts. But if two different people read the same book, that's fine."

Thanks. I thought so, but wanted to check. It will be fun to compare notes with Lois on the book.

message 22: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1148 comments Welcome Kendra and Deborah J. Looking forward to having you as part of the reading Cranberries!

message 23: by Lois (new)

Lois Anderson | 56 comments I'm reading Cop Town for Orange but Carrie Soto fits several others, including Yellow. :) And Edie, we should totally talk about Carrie Soto as we read! I'll probably start it tomorrow as I'm almost done with my current read.

message 24: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2118 comments Hey team. I just got back from visiting my Grandma. I'll do my best to add my reading plans to the list.

I'm in Saskatchewan (Canada) which is central standard, but I'm a night owl, so I'mm more likely to be on late at night than in the morning.

message 25: by Kellie Lyn (new)

Kellie Lyn | 211 comments I am reading The Final Gambit (The Inheritance Games, #3) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes ] for my first book which is a red cover or YA or family drama.

Lois Anderson | 56 comments Kellie Lyn wrote: "I am reading The Final Gambit (The Inheritance Games, #3) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes] for my first book which is a red cover or YA or family drama."

Oh man my library hold hasn't come in yet. I'm about to just use an audible credit or something!

message 27: by Lois (new)

Lois Anderson | 56 comments Also, I just realized this starts tomorrow! So I'm going to hold off reading the 25% of my current read because its a long one and that is still more than a hundred pages. So, I'm starting Carrie Soto tonight probably! I'm currently reading False Witness by Karin Slaughter so I will add that to the spreadsheet also.

message 28: by Kelly Sj (new)

Kelly Sj | 483 comments Hello from Minnesota! I haven't been able to read much for the last few weeks, so looking forward to getting back on track during the read-a-thon! I'm in the middle of The Bone People which has been a slow read but started to go a bit faster the last couple nights, so I will continue that one and add a few shorter/faster ones during the week.

Looking forward to comparing notes. I started it last night...and got 100 pages in and had trouble putting it down. I played tennis in college (D3) and was surprised to find Carrie was a tennis player.

One of the women in my book club reads a lot of Karin Slaughter, will be interested to hear how you like that book.

Deborah | 348 comments Hey all! I am excited to read with you all this week. I just got home from a piano recital, so I am going to post my plans in the next hour or so.

Finished my first book of the Read-a-Thon, which counts for... exactly zero prompts lol. It was audio of my book club book for the month, so it needed to get finished, and I've added the 2.75 hours I read today to the spreadsheet for acorns.

My husband keeps springing things on me for today but I'm hoping to squeeze in the last 120 pages of The Westing Game today (lol it's only 180 pages long..).

So good to hear! I read the other two this summer! So I'm excited to hear that you liked it!! And here I go reading until soccer game!!

message 37: by Kellie Lyn (new)

Kellie Lyn | 211 comments Finshed my 1st book, The Final Gambit and put it in the Red cover slot on #2. The spreadsheet showed that as the least amount of possibles but can be changed if needed. I am going to start Sugar Cookie Murder for food on the cover.

message 38: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3334 comments I have company here, so I probably won't finish anything today. I'll have some pages though. I'll have at least one book finished for tomorrow. Go Cranberries!

message 39: by Kellie Lyn (new)

Kellie Lyn | 211 comments I finished Sugar Cookie Murder. It was a super fast read! I am going to put it as "Food on the cover". It has a couple of other places it could go but that seems the least popular. I am starting Unwind and hope to finish by this evening.

message 40: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2118 comments Hey, it's a bit of a busy day for me. I had a funeral this morning, and there's a big football game this afternoon, so I'm doing just a quick check in and then I'll probably do more late tonight.

I'm reading My Wedding Dress: True-Life Tales of Lace, Laughter, Tears and Tulle which will work for the black and white cover, I think.
My Wedding Dress True-Life Tales of Lace, Laughter, Tears and Tulle by Anne Laurel Carter

message 41: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1148 comments What a great start Kellie Lyn. As a team we have books slotted that will fill each one of the cornucopias at least once... and some multiple times.

I couldn't put Carrie Soto is Back down and thanks to a rainy afternoon, just finished it, using it for the book that features sports prompt. I know Lois is reading this too and there are are several other prompts it will fit.

Don't forget to log your hours read or listened to. We are already half way to an acorn there.

message 42: by Kellie Lyn (new)

Kellie Lyn | 211 comments So I did not realize that Gone for Good by Harlan Coben was due back tomorrow to the library so had to finish it first. Should I put it as a mystery or as a yellow cover? It can go either way.

message 43: by Deborah (new)

Deborah | 348 comments Kellie Lyn wrote: "So I did not realize that Gone for Good by Harlan Coben was due back tomorrow to the library so had to finish it first. Should I put it as a mystery or as a yellow cover? It can go either way."

I would put it as a yellow cover we have less books planned for that category

message 44: by Lois (new)

Lois Anderson | 56 comments I just finished False Witness by Karin Slaughter and I slotted it into +400 pages. We could move it to Family Drama or mystery/thriller if I needed. I am a huge Karin Slaughter fan so I really liked it. It talks about Covid times alot. It takes place in 2021 I believe. I had started it closer to the beginning of the year and had to stop it but I was ready to deal with the references this time. And loved it. Do not read if you don't check trigger warnings.

I agree with Deborah, we have lots of mystery options, so lets use it for yellow cover.

Wahoo. Do you want me to fill it in on the cornucopia 1 tab? I believe, until we finalize a cornucopia, we will have the option to move it.

message 47: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1148 comments As you finish books, please mark them finished on the spreadsheet. I just now realized that I hadn't done that for the book I finished.

message 48: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3334 comments Do we mark them on the Plan Tab? Or just the Completed Tab?

message 49: by Deborah (new)

Deborah | 348 comments I did not finish any books today, but I did make progress on both The Pageant of Chinese History andKeys to the Demon Prison. I will have a bit more time to read tomorrow, so hopefully, I will finish at least one book.

message 50: by Lois (new)

Lois Anderson | 56 comments I just moved my whole column to the completed Tab. That book is no longer on the plan tab. Then I added the title into the correct Cornicopia tab. Are you all comfortable doing that? I can do more of the spreadsheet moving if I need to. Let me know what you think.
