Page numbers with source
How book qualified, with links or cover as necessary.
Date Completed.
Rating/Review.

**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis.**

Please note that a rating is now required in your completion posts! A small review is also welcome. 😊

MountainKat | 31593 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Rubber Duckies, just let me know!

DeeNeez | 693 comments Dee here, checking in!

Gustaf is team captain, and Helke is backup captain.

My time zone is Pacific Time zone, Washington state.
I read exclusively MM. Favorite subs genres are mystery, sci-fi, military, BDSM…. My least favorite is YA.

message 6: by Helke (new)

Helke (mogelpackung) | 695 comments Hi. Just checking in. I think my time zone is Greenwich +1.

I love mystery and military books. I also love paranormal as genre and BDSM. Aliens and sci fi are also favourites of mine. I don't like historical so much and YA/NA are my least favored genres. I will read nearly everything but will balk at Daddy kink and incest is a total taboo for me.

message 7: by Gustaf (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments Hi all!
As you all know I'm far from my best right now but I'm going to try to be able to do the pre chores for this game as smooth as possible.

I read everything MM. Dark stories are not a favorite though.

My time zone is CET

Helke (mogelpackung) | 695 comments Tasks:

Task decisions
1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
I'd like to read Megan Derr, Greg Ashe or Rhys Ford but am game for other authors as long it isn't Tal Bauer.
9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task.
There are so may great series. Just a few to think about:
Secrets and scrabble by Josh Lanyon
Tales of the high Court by Megan Derr
Hazard and Somerset by Gregory Ashe
Cut &Run by Abigail Roux
27. Read a minimum of 750 pages in books published in any one year prior to 2018, team picks the year.
Maybe not going to far back. I would say 2016 or 2017.
29. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession.
I would prefer LEO or medical personal.
33. Read 6 books in the same sub-genre, teams decide.
Mystery or western and country if you are afraid it would be to dark.
49. Each teammate reads a book published in the same month and year, teams decide. No pass for this task.
No preferences
50. Read 6 books set in the same location, teams decide the location.
I would prefer a state of the USA. Maybe one very often used in books like California or NY or Washington. We also could do Canada.
51. Each teammate reads a different book by the same author, no pass for this task.
Look at task 1
52. Read 6 books with the same color cover, teams decide color.
Blue
54. Read 6 books set on a beach or in the mountains, teams decide which.
Beach
55. Read 6 books set in the same country outside the US, teams decide country.
Canada or a country of the UK
56. As a team, pick a list with over 100 romance books on it, each member reads a book from that list. No pass for this task.

Hat, candle, rope
79. Read 6 books that have the same romance trope, teams decide which trope.
Don't know what that means. Sorry.
80. Read 4 books initially published in different decades.
This one will be hard. I think we take any decade we can get. But please I don't want to read a historical book.
82. Each teammate reads a different book from the same series.
Look at task 9.
88. Read 6 books with a boat, plane, car or motorcycle on the cover, teams decide which.

Diane | 875 comments I'm not understanding task 99 either. Do we have to (as a team) read all 10 of those books??

message 17: by Gustaf (last edited Sep 12, 2022 08:07AM) (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments For 99 all you have to do is list 5 of your favorite books. Then if we get that task choose two of the recommended books to read. They can't be from the same teammate though.

You go to the members page and then you can search for your name.

Gustaf | 1936 comments I've posted all my answers. Now I need to get my brain together to get a solid list together.

message 28: by Gustaf (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments 1, 51, 73, are basically the same task. Looking at our answer we are 3 people wanting to read Charlie Cochet so I'm going to put her as our author for task 1. Then N.R. Walker for task 51 and Gregory Ashe for 73 since that one is a task where we need to reach a certain page count and his books usually are on the longer side. How does that sound?

message 29: by Gustaf (last edited Sep 13, 2022 09:46AM) (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments Ace's Wild will be a little hard for series for this challenge. Since the books are novella sized and the minimum page count is 150 pages.

So my suggestions are:
Vino & Veritas
Men of Hidden Creek Season 1
Bold Brew
In Vino & Veritas

We need to different series.

message 30: by Gustaf (last edited Sep 13, 2022 10:00AM) (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments For task 33 and 70 (the sub-genre) ones.
MM is a sub-genre, so I think that's the way we want to go.

Many of you suggested different tropes for this one which aren't really the same thing. A genre is a type of story with a familiar model like romance and mystery. A sub-genre is a smaller and more specific genre within the broader genre. And a trope is a plot mechanism commonly used within a genre.

message 31: by Gustaf (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments For task 56 and 93 (the list tags) we need to decide on the lists.

If you could also link the lists you have suggested that would be even better. I think Highly recommended MM is a good choice for the first one.

The second one is a little harder, any ideas?

message 32: by Gustaf (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments For task 80. Read 4 books initially published in different decades we have all choose 2020's, 2010's 2000's and 1990's. I think it would be good to choose who read for which decade before as well.

message 33: by Gustaf (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments For task 12 what we usually do is to recommend specific books to our teammates. See my post for examples.

MM for our sub-genre is great!

Helke (mogelpackung) | 695 comments I would prefer some other series. Sorry.

message 39: by Gustaf (last edited Sep 13, 2022 02:06PM) (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments No worries we can look into other series. I just thought that a multi author series probably would be the best since it's easier for everyone to find something they might like.

For example I don't want to read any Josh Lanyon. The way she is treating her business right now is something I can't support. Gregory Ashe is not a favorite of mine and we already have him put down for another category and I would rather not read Abigail Roux again if I don't have to.

message 40: by Gustaf (last edited Sep 13, 2022 02:23PM) (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments Maybe we can agree on doing one series that are Helke approved and one of ours. There's very little chance one will be called. Even less both.

That way I could probably reread a Secrets & Scrabble book (since I own most of them) which isn't the most exciting thing but I would be fine with it.

Which is the least evil of the series above for you Helke?

Or maybe the Lindenshaw Mysteries could be an option?

message 41: by DeeNeez (new)

DeeNeez | 693 comments Lindenshaw Mysteries look good! …any mystery series I’m ok with.

message 42: by Diane (new)

Diane | 875 comments Sorry, guys, forgot I had a catch up zoom call with some old friends tonight and I didn't get a chance to finalize my lists. My wine is calling, but I promise to look at it as soon as possible.

I am so flexible with whatever anyone else wants, really -- happy to read anything, so don't feel like you have to wait for me to make a decision.

Oh, and just to let you know, I totally stress over picking book suggestions for other people. Didn't last long in the Pick it For Me Challenge, but I will do my best!

message 43: by DeeNeez (last edited Sep 13, 2022 08:19PM) (new)

DeeNeez | 693 comments Diane, you can pick anything for me as long as it’s not YA or family (children) oriented.

message 44: by Helke (last edited Sep 13, 2022 08:30PM) (new)

Helke (mogelpackung) | 695 comments Lindenshaw Mysteries are a good choice.
You don't need to read Josh Lanyon if you don't want to Gustaf.

What do you think of the Ellery Moutain series by RJ Scott? Or Red dirt by N.R. Walker?
Tales of the High Court are an option too.

message 45: by Gustaf (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments Ok awesome I'm putting down Lindenshaw Mysteries for the first serial task.

The other one is a little hard since we need to read different books in the series. Any ideas?

message 46: by Gustaf (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments No stress Diane. I'm fine with anything you might choose for me.

message 47: by Gustaf (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments We are almost ready for the first call today :) I'm excited.

message 48: by Diane (new)

Diane | 875 comments I have read all of Red Dirt and Ellery Mountain, sorry. Not sure about the High Court though

message 49: by Diane (new)

Diane | 875 comments Waiting for Helke to friend me so I can see her 'read' shelf and pick a book for her.

message 50: by Gustaf (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments Do you need to read Tales of the High Court in order? Because we can't read the same book for this task.
