SOLVED. Fantasy/ Action/ Adventure of Travelling Swordsman From 2018-ish

I do not remember the book title, author, where I read/listened to the book, how I read/listened to the book (but I feel like I listened to it from Audible on one of the rotations or read it from a PDF). I can not find any summaries that suggest the kind of book - or potential book series - that I am trying to figure out.

It starts off with a tale in a village about there being a tree in the middle of the woods that kills people. The MC (male) is in a cart travelling with his parents who are killed by something and saved by a swordsman who is guarding the tree in the middle of the woods to prevent the creator of his house from getting to it. The MC begs and keeps begging the swordsman to join his house (which is very selective having 9? swords) and must pass some trials before a sword will select him to wield it. The swords have the ability to open a spatial rift to the location of a house where the swords go when not called. The house has many trials for the sword-wielders to pass to gain specific abilities, with some drawbacks (such as a chain that crawls over the skin, like a timer before the power consumes the person and forces them to combat the head of the house to become the new head).

There are other kinds of locations like that one, but I do not remember much about any of them as well as the paragraph(?) above about the "void swords". Any help to assist me in finding this so I may peruse it again would be appreciated as I do not remember how, when, or where I read or listened to this book (might be a book series).

I have discovered this series again after finally finding the trilogy being uploaded to Audible 1 Jun 2022.
