1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a 'nice to know' when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Lead Rapper - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme of Black & White, come up with a fun name. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 7 September.

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2. (It will also help with one of the categories in this round!)

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation, etc.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A/Announcement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.


The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week Option 2 has altered and I will be allocating each team another team from which their book selection must be chosen :)

Hi team! I can't wait to see who I'm playing with this time! 📚 I'm really looking forward to this round, though I will be out of town a couple of times during the challenge. It won't interfere with my reading - promise!

I am in the mountains of SoCal and trying to stay cool this week/weekend. We are under an excessive heat warning that started last Tuesday and goes until next Tuesday night. 🥵 If summer could just end already, I'd be a lot happier!

A little about me, I'm married to my high school sweetie and we have three grown kids and some grandkids too. We live in the boonies, so I get lots of listening time in my car - a trip to the grocery store is 2 hours driving round trip. My hobbies are reading and Disneyland and I go more often than I should admit out loud (even online!). My reading is pretty varied, but all under the umbrella of romance. I need my happy endings!

I'll just sit here patiently waiting for the rest of you... 😊

Hey everyone,

My name is Shandrea. I live in Southern Idaho (we have been under excessive heat warnings also).. I am a busy mom of 4. I run a little grocery store and substitute teach. I also coach middle school volleyball.

My husband is in the army and just left for a deployment to Kuwait. Right now he’s in Texas/New Mexico until later this month when they go over seas. The first two weeks of him being gone was really hard on me emotionally. But I am excited to get into this challenge to use reading as a distraction.

I read only romance, I don’t read a lot of paranormal romance or fantasy.


Team names..? - when I read “black and white” all I could think about was Moira Rose from Schitt’s Creek.

Hello everyone. I’m from Glasgow in Scotland. Our weather has been strange this summer. We had two heatwaves, we had rain, and last night it started to get cold. As Autumn is a few weeks away I guess that makes sense.

I live with my fiancé John and my two cats Bonnie and Clyde. Their brother and sister. I read lots of things so I’m glad to read that we can put any genre in the challenges. Thriller and crime , romance and memiors are my main genres. Although do like woman fiction, comedy, biographies as well.

I’m away for a few days at the end of September I go the Thursday and come back the Monday so hoping we can find out that weeks theme early somehow?

Hi Kat - you can't find out a theme early. But you can see the theme on your return (Monday) and you will still have 4 days before the next theme is called.

In this case - post your selection on your return (Monday).

You don't have to finish your book before the next theme, but you can't have more than 2 books outstanding (without completion posts) when I call the next theme. Eg in week 7, you can't have 3 books still to finish reading when I call the theme for week 8.

Our first task as a team is to come up with a team name - Black & White is the theme this round. The only thing that comes to mind for me is 'Couch Pandas'. Definitely open to all suggestions after that thought!

Hi all, I'm Alicia. I live in a small town in the boonies up in NorCal (or Northern California). Hi MKat! 🙋‍♀️ You're having the heat wave, and it's been raining and getting colder up here. I actually had to turn on the heater last night! CA weather is so weird. We're having wildfires less than an hour away, but it's pouring rain where I live. Go figure.

Anywayyy, I love to read just about anything, except not a huge fan of horror or bdsm. I would probably say that MM, PNR, and urban fantasy romance are my favorite genres right now.

Hi Alicia! We actually got about a half inch of rain yesterday, it lowered the temp for a little while - we enjoyed it while it lasted! Hope you stay safe from the wildfires. So far down here we are just getting the small fires that they attack quickly, nothing out of control. The big ones down here have been in October, but certainly not limited to then.

So far we have three suggestions for names - if everyone could vote their favorite we can get a name and be ready for the challenge to start! Remember Jane often starts this challenge early if the teams are organized and ready - usually on the Wednesday before the scheduled start. She said not to wait if we have a majority here and we do.
