A Rare Breeds Album of American Livestock
WORD(S): Both "Rare" and "Breeds" can be typed with just the left hand.
NOTE: "Album" sometimes denotes a work that is largely pictorial. That is NOT what this work is. Text is on every page of this 8x11 inch, 2 column, trade paperback; from 66%-100% of the page. Pictures are included of the breeds on many pages, no more than 33% of the page, but often smaller or non-existent. The text gives history of these breeds, geographic areas, strengths, reasons and places for breeding programs, and relationships to other breeds, among other facts. I found the work quite interesting, especially historical contexts, even though I am not in the agriculture field. Made me wish I could raise some of these breeds at my place! There are also sections in the front and back explaining the problems of commercial enterprises wanting only breeds that will exist well in close quarters and the advantages to breeds that can survive on pastures, rather than grain, etc. Something to think about.
