Trinia | 2503 comments Hey gang, sorry been quiet. Family trip to FL and not much reading time 🤪 I’ve been reading Book Lovers and will answer questions when I return. Will make sure to put read books on my shelf.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I WILL get all my planned books in the Inspired tab finished this week.

Swan Song will either be Wednesday or Thursday as I'm doing a lot of audio with it and it's a huge one.

I'm almost done with Malibu Rising, have two days answered on the BOM. Book Lovers and The Drawing of the Three came in the mail today, starting them soon. Read some during lunch today for Later, such a good book.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 1359 comments @Louise Hope this helps keep the story if you like it. I also finished it : ) with two other books I finished today!

I replaced The Book of Cold Cases with The Screwtape Letters. I finished Get a Life, Chloe Brown which will work for Clio--added February 2021. I am also finishing up Lila--added November of 2014. That should help from having to pull them from the story : )

Is there an update of what we still need?

message 1357: by Robin (Saturndoo) (new)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 1359 comments I'm spending some time finishing up a large stack of books that I started during the challenge and never finished. Most of them I read at least half of the book and just lost interest. That seems to be one of my biggest reading faults. In the meantime, if there's something in particular that I need to read, let me know and I will be happy to do so : )

I hope everyone is getting in lots of great reading time!!!

Kerri (kerrimcbooknerd) | 1200 comments Hello all! Checking in real quick. Life has been a hectic mess lately, but things are starting to calm down. I'm finishing up Hide, probably today or tomorrow. It started out kind of meh but it's gotten much better!

@Louise - I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I hope you find out soon what's going at the hospital and that she recovers quickly.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 1359 comments Vicky wrote: "@Robin - I stole Get a Life, Chloe Brown for Calliope, I read it earlier in the challenge! :)"

LOL that's fine ; ) So I need to find/read another one for Clio so we don't have to steal from the story? or Just wait to see what is still desperately needed : )

I have no plans for the rest of the week and can read whatever is needed.

message 1362: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments Okay - here's the update!

We have 23 books claimed and unread, 23 slots to fill and 11 books in the bank that we could probably fit in those slots. I'll be honest, the last time I updated I was skeptical we would be able to pull it off - but it's looking WAY better this week. Robin coming in with the comedy was clutch!

The #1 thing we need is ball outfits - dresses, suits, etc, we need another 7 and it doesn't seem to be something we're banking a lot of. I think I've looked through most everyone's books to see if there were any hiding and I didn't find any, but if you've read something that could apply but is used elsewhere we might be able to swap it around.

The #2 thing is to sort out our Tragedy. We have the following books in the bank if anyone wants to take a stab at getting something going for that. (Robin, I'm looking at you haha!)

Midnight Bayou
The Courage to Be Disliked
Billy Summers
Desert Heat
Chasing Fire
Carrie Soto is Back
Blue Smoke
To Kill A Kingdom
Body Movers

We also have Book Lovers and Talk Bookish to Me, but I'm thinking we can swap them as a Bookish Protagonist pair with Erin's Evidence and Crime Scene books, since they seem more in line with where our story is headed so far?

We could also probably pull from the food books as well (Search, House Across the Lake, The Obsession all good tragedy options) since they seem very easy to come by.

The rest of the things we need follow, note that some of the TBR books might be able to be pulled from the bank if we don't use them all for a story.

2x Books Read by a TM During the Challenge
2x Books on your TBR over a Year

A list of Claimed Books follow, it doesn't look like anyone has bit off more than they can chew based on how much they read - but if anything happens and you can't read one of these books give us a shoutout here so we can replace it!

Annalisa x1 - Never Split the Difference
Erin x5 - Swan Song, Crime Scene, Dead Man's Boots, Malibu Rising, The Drawing of the Three
Jax x2 - In The Great Green Room, The Love Song of WEB Dubois
Kerri x2 - Hide, The Neverending Story
Louise x4 - Empire of Storms, The Red Pyramid, Single Dad Seeks Juliet, Book Lovers
Robin x2 - In a Holidaze, Lila
Stacey x1 - Dead Moon
Tati x1 - Heart of Venom
Vicky x4 - The Fires of Heaven, The Gunslinger, The Poet X, My American Duchess

OK, I'm on the tragedy writing with the list of books you gave me : ) Will start working on it NOW!!!

In a Holidaze is completed as of today and on the main tracking SS. Lila will be finished sometime tonight or wee hours of tomorrow morning.

I have a couple of others on the go that will probably work for the tragedy and will search out what I have for ball attire.

Stacey | 897 comments Thanks for the update! I forgot about dead moon but I can definitely fit it in! I have a book that’s not in there that has a dress on the cover, but it’s about prostitutes so not sure I’d think of it as a ball gown (it’s international and isn’t the dress you are thinking of)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 1359 comments Ok here ya go @Vicky lol

This Is All Your Fault !!!! It was supposed to be Murder, Plain and Simple not Anatomy of a Murder. Obviously, the protocols given in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder were not followed. If it weren't for that Dumb Witness Allegedly seeing Agatha in the act, the detectives wouldn't be so Ruthless with their questions. It's Unforgivable Agatha was so sloppy. Being so close to Christmas, Agatha will blame her sloppiness on being in a In a Holidaze. According to detective Billy Summers Agatha has a reputation of having The Courage to Be Disliked: How to Free Yourself, Change your Life and Achieve Real Happiness. In all honesty, that's a good thing because she's blowing Blue Smoke to cover up her foul intentions. Agatha claims she was in the ballroom dancing to Midnight Bayou while the murders were taking place. Liar liar Chasing Fire ! Why would anyone be dancing to that Tadpole Treble song from a game. She knows her goal was To Kill a Kingdom with the arsenal of guns she recently purchased. She crumbled under the pressure and felt the slow burn of the Desert Heat Carrie Soto Is Back on the scene and will eventually get the truth from Agatha. Carrie is particularly interested in who the Body Movers are and how much they were paid. The Evening and the Morning of the following day, Agatha led the detectives to the abandoned warehouses where the dead bodies were stored. Until new information is released--Later Gator!!!

I will be finishing up A Good Girl's Guide to Murder in the next couple days : )

✔Midnight Bayou
✔The Courage to Be Disliked
✔Billy Summers
✔Desert Heat
✔Chasing Fire
✔Carrie Soto is Back
✔Blue Smoke
✔To Kill A Kingdom

Annalisa | 1573 comments If we say that adding the first book in a series counts I am reading the second book of a series and I added the first book to my TBR in 2017 I think.

message 1367: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments Also, I have 5 hours left on The Mourning and The Evening. Will be best for story I think since would really only work for food.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments Just finished LATER and added to the tragedy story.

Unfortunately it's not a large page count one but I had to finish for my book club meeting tomorrow, and at least it's an easy word to use for a story.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I am planning to read Book Lovers also, so we can fit that into one of the Calliope slots if we still need one once it is read.

I won't reserve any new ones that I haven't already on the Inspired tab, just will put what I finish up there and work on those I already claimed. Still hoping to get a few more under my belt that is large page count besides these, but we'll see what happens. Whatever the case, I'm sure we'll finish all up.

I was noticing we were lower on that. None of my read books fit this, but I changed out Swan Song from what I had in there first in my bird pair from "The Cuckoo's Calling." for that reason. I am 20% into that and will try to finish this week also. It would cover the Ball category as you see the back of her that she's wearing a silky dress/evening wear.

Vicky wrote: "We also have Book Lovers and Talk Bookish to Me, but I'm thinking we can swap them as a Bookish Protagonist pair with Erin's Evidence and Crime Scene books, since they seem more in line with where our story is headed so far?"

If we need to move that around, it is fine. I am also now planning to read Book Lovers as I got a copy delivered today from Amazon for the BOM points (and all the gushing reviews, got it on a good discount). Not sure where we'll fit it on the mini, but will try to read it at end of week after the other planned books.

Thanks!!! I already made the disclaimer I'm not a writer. But I will give it a shot to help the team out LOL I hope that you all enjoy seeing your books turned into goofy little stories : )

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments If the total book cap is 630 and we can go a few books over without penalty from my understanding, we can remove Later if needed and if we fill up from the mini. It is just 274 pages and not as high of a point count but have it on there for now since it's finished and easy word, but hopefully larger page counts for max points by the end of the challenge.

You're right - it did!! If used in comedy I'll remove from the tragedy section lol, don't want to "over book it" :p

Edited - checked and don't see "Later" used in the comedy section as a book title. Not sure if I had it in there planned originally and maybe it got shuffled around?

message 1376: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments @Annalisa - For the TBR, they've said that it does not have to have been on your official Goodreads TBR. So I'd say if you added the first with the intent to read the series, or read the first over a year ago and decided to continue the series it would be fine!

Regarding page count, I don't think we're going to end up swapping much around. Though it depends on how much reading we get in this week. We have 32 books to read (minus any that were logged overnight and aren't yet on the official sheet) until we hit the 109% cap. If we read over that we'll have plenty of extra books to play around with next weekend if page counts become an issue.

message 1377: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments Something I just thought of - I claimed My American Duchess for the ball setting, but it also has a ball outfit. So we could swap that out if someone has a different book that might work for setting!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments Nice!!

I am sure we can think of something else for setting. We definitely need those ball outfits to start coming through lol

We could always set the ball in Malibu

Stacey | 897 comments I just added 1 book that I'm reading now (not sure where to put it). Along with the 2 others I've committed to, I don't think I'll get more in. I wanted to read Malibu Rising, but there's no way I'll finish in time. I **might** be able to fit a quick audiobook in at the end, but no promises.

Looks like we are down to just 4 more ball attire books : )

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments Finished Dead Men's Boots, which takes care of the last of the musical instruments

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments Today I am planning on finishing Malibu Rising, almost done, which will be last of food, and working on Crime Scene ( should not take long) which will finish one of my remaining two pairs.
