Hey Team!! I hope everyone is doing well.I looked over the monster tasks, and I have several "small books" and I'm holding one for twins but I think that task is already spoken for so I will just go ahead and finish it.
@Vicky--I've been feeling overwhelmed too with all my challenges, reading, groups-- the whole shooting match. So I'm with you. Some of my challenges I haven't even looked at : ( I meant to ask you when we were talking about audiobooks checked out from the library, which app do you use? Libby or Overdrive. I use Overdrive although I know they are doing away with it and won't support it, but I have tried Libby multiple times and I HATE IT lol
@Erin--YAY!!! You got a nice little haul of things on your shopping trip. I love candles. I keep one burning in my room all the time : )
I'm currently trying to read the physical books I have checked out from the library AND listen to the 19 audiobooks I have checked LOL. I am making progress though : )

Are we able to take smaller books away at the end if need be, or are they fully locked once on the spreadsheet?

When we complete a monster we can request a new monster which can be any of the monsters listed. As there is no limit to the number of monsters we can defeat we may well find ourselves having to defeat a nest of Pythons

In the last two weeks of the challenge I’ll go through and remove smaller books to make sure we remain within our cap and are maximising our point potential.

I had just finished the backroom BOM and answered questions. The rest I will be sure to hold off on, am close to finishing a few.

I know, right!?!? 19 audiobooks LOL Most of them were holds that I wasn't expecting to come in quickly based off of the hold status when I placed the holds. I probably have 50+ physical books checked out as well.
But I'm working my way through all the stacks : ) Some of the physical books I have read and will be going back to the library one day this week. I have no control what so ever with limiting myself to how many books I check out LOL
Excited for our upcoming Mini- and am planning on waiting to finish til the 15th 👍🏼I signed up as a volunteer for Ariadne DQ’s , so hoping we get picked this round 😅

I'll try to hold off finishing books, but I may finish 1 before the mini starts. Sorry! Hard to stop and I have lots of reading time this week. I am reading the Margarita book and it won't be finished until after.I like the idea of just taking the books as they come. We can list tasks once we finish. Slower readers books can be used then. Makes finding books more challenging potentially if we pick something for a task and it changes, but it will all work out in the end.
I am almost done with The Baby Shower, will hold off for the timer for the 15th
I was wondering what other challenges people are working on? I know about the SRC one, but I'm always curious about the interesting things various groups come up with.

Very hard to kill but can be distracted with sheep. He loves his sheep. Also, might distract him by discussing what a complete dink Ulysses really is despite his fame.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 500 and 650 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book that takes place on an island.
3.) Read a book where a character engages in some sort of trickery (your interpretation).
4.) Read a book with sheep AND people on the cover.
5.) Read a book whose MC is a farmer.
Aw, Cyclops. At least he's a monster I recognize.
I can't find any cozy mysteries with a sheep AND people.All the sheep books seem to be written for young children or the horrors of agriculture or farming industry. Bleh. Sometimes they make these tasks too picky. Sheep is findable but a sheep and people, no luck so far other than Charlotte's Web - works but not sure on the word count suitability. And if you don't want to re-read Charlotte's Web again (sighs)

It should be there now. Apologies I am having a problem with books coming up more than once on my shelf. When I combine them it’s not carrying all the info over.

This may only be stated on the spreadsheet for point tracking. But I will accept humanoids for people. So yes, I would accept that book.

Checking in. My A/C went out in the middle of a heat wave. They can't fix it until next Friday. So mostly all I have the energy for is to lay in the dark and listen to audiobooks. I'm trying to check in as much as possible but it looks like you all have been able to cover most of the monster tasks. And on top of the AC my husband just got back from traveling and tested positive for Covid. Poor guy - covid and no AC.

I finished Riveted today - not amazing for tasks but hopefully it will come through for something! I also made some solid progress in The Master and Margarita - seriously what is happening in this book!

:D Ice cream sounds delicious right now to go with the monsters. Sadly I don't have any but about to make a cheeseburger.

I opted for a Hershey's Collider instead of ice cream - it's a single serve pudding-like snack that comes with chopped up chocolate. Still satisfying, might go back for ice cream later. In the meantime there are monsters to be had:Nemean Lion
