This was such great way to wrap up this story arch. There was a lot in there but it was also eye rolling at some times. Like Elodie and her antics, especially when trying to get back at Archer. There were some surprises and deaths (not going to tell you but was really ticked off about that!) and betrayals. But it ended on such a great note. I'm glad I finally started this series and followed it through.
Story line was left open, I think it would be nice to be able to revisit this world again.

The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang
Read: 5/8/22
Rated: 4.5 stars
Review: NO! NO! NO!
It’s the one word that she needs to learn. Such a sweet and complicated mess Anna is but you love her anyway. Pleasing your family can be the worse. Anna learns things about herself which she doesn’t want to share but has to so she can move forward but she frustrated me at some points in the story. Her sister is a b***ch and mom is ok but can be judgmental.
Quan maybe isn’t the guy you would expect him to be since he has tattoos and drive a motorcycle but he’s exactly who Anna needs. So when Anna’s boyfriend decided he wanted an open relationship, the jerk, and meets Quan, things begin to change and Anna finds things about herself that make sense and eventually gives her peace.
Though she made me so frustrated at times, I enjoyed it because the story made you want to yell, feel sad for her and rage too. Like I still don’t like her sister. Hahahaha

Review: If this was a standalone book, my review would have been more positive, but it is part of the mister series. This book just seemed as a repeat of the other books. Broke American girl goes to London and fall in love with rich English man.
The story was sweet and very predictable, but had been a okay read if this storyline was not a repeat of the rest of the series.

Review: This was another great Eve Dallas book. I really enjoyed that the crime story kept me on my toes all the way to end, I had not guessed the killer! A huge plus in my book.
I am also very impressed that the personal stories of the characters still are very interesting even in book 40. This definitely makes me want to keep reading this series.

Ugh, Rich people confound me! LOL, seriously, I think the saying "money can't by happiness" is so true. Alex is a trust fund baby who just graduated from Stanford. Her sights are set on Columbia Law School now but she's got one vacation to let loose before she's got to buckle down. She meets Not and they agree on a one week only, vacation fling that stretches Alex's (who is calling herself Charli on her vacation) limits.
When the week is over she doesn't expect to see Not again. But he breaks the rules and puts her number in her phone. She doesn't expect to ever use it but after her family tells her that her trust fund is now empty, she finds herself in New York without any money.
Her cousin tells her about a service called Infidelity that paired him with his lover, Cyrus. And pairs high profile employees with even higher profile clients. The only catch is that you have to been with the client for a year. Down on her luck Alex agrees to sign with Infidelity but she has no idea what she's done.
This was not as light as some of Aleatha Romig's latest works have been but not nearly as dark as some as the earlier stuff. But, I think this first book is just the tip of the iceberg. I knew what was going to happen but didn't know exactly how it was going to play out.
The book ends on a cliffhanger, and I'll have to continue to see what happens next that is for sure. I appreciated what Alex was going through. It sucks that the rich people familial obligations were put before her happiness but we see it time and again. I'm hoping that Nox gives her a way out.

Week 6

Review: Love and hate
Hmm, that may be a fun mix with these two since neither of them are perfect and both have their secrets that they don't want anyone to know. Its just a bit ridiculous but in a way I can understand why they are keeping them. It also makes for an interesting story.
Cal is definitely having a hard time moving on but yet can manage to help others move on. The deathletes of his wife is a major issue for him but the guilt he holds onto isn't something he should have. Things happen and we can't change what happened and I believe excepting the guilt is misplaced and he needs to do what he's told others to do and let it go. Molly is another one that needs to let her sister know what she knows but also come to except what she really wants. These two together are a mess but what fun the banter between them is and the make up can be fun too. First they need to be honest with each other and their loved ones.

Review:
This is my first Nalini Singh series, and I really wanted to like it. As the outline of the series and also this book, fits really well with I normally enjoy. This book was my least favorite in this series, even though it has one of the most interesting back stories. I however did not connect to characters as much as I had hoped. One of the problems can be the narration of the audiobook, the characters are all from New Zealand but the narrator speaks with an American accent which just takes something from the book.

The author had me until the end. I felt for Mac, I really did. It's hard sometimes to be successful in work as a woman because your love life can really suffer. I'm sure her mother meant well but the constant questioning of Mac's choices left her with no choice but to invent the perfect man. Then family circumstances put Mac in the hot seat to produce said man.
Mac wanted JT from the beginning but she thought he was off limits. Then he wasn't, then bombs were dropped.
I got this book because of the title. I loved Sixteen Candles when I was growing up. Not so much any more but (now the outrage at the possibility of Sam wanting a black guy and pink trans-am...LOL, just smh) and the some of the inappropriate situations, especially the one with Caroline.
Anyway, I'm getting way off topic. I picked up the book for the title. I enjoyed the shenanigans for the most part. I even enjoyed the ending that was a little too close to the aforementioned movie. It was just silly at the end in the delivery room. I seriously just wanted to throw the book in the air (I didn't as it would have damaged my phone--but it was a close thing)! It was just as step too far in a story that was already a bit over the top.

Review: This was another entertaining Eve, suspense story. I don't know how she does it with all that she has to deal with when it comes to her past and then trying to solve the murders. Well this murder hit home for sure and yet she managed to get through it with her friends and of course Roarke, which I have to say he really rocked when he put Trudy in her place even though he knew Eve would be pissed but he did good in my book. I just love these two together. They're great together.

Maskim is the Florida Fury enforcer who feels he has to protect his teammates on the ice. When he is forced to go to Therapy because of his increasingly aggressiveness which has gotten completely out of control . Then there's Paisley the therapist who he kissed on New Years Eve and he doesn't believe in Therapy. They go through a lot of ups and downs but their story was very hot and a enjoyable read. A definite recommend!
