laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) Welcome to our second quarter challenge: BUILD A BOUQUET

Did you know that certain flowers have certain meanings? A red rose might signal love, but a deep red rose could mean bashful shame or, if you send it in rosebud form, pure and lovely—and that's just from one person's book! There are a lot of different interpretations and meanings that vary between and within different cultures. It's delightfully confusing.

In this challenge, you will read six books over three categories to create a floral arrangement of your choice...however, you're not going to know what flowers you pick!

THE RULES:
1. Pick prompts from each category (three from thrillers, two from fillers, and one spiller).
2. Read books that match the prompts. There is no page or format limit.
3. Update your original post.
4. When you're finished, I will tell you what flowers are in your arrangement, and what they mean!

THRILLERS
First, we are going to pick the showstopper element. Choose three prompts from this category—yes, the flowers correspond with the colors you choose

1. Read a book with a mostly red cover
2. Read a book with a mostly orange/yellow cover
3. Read a book with a mostly blue cover
4. Read a book with a mostly purple cover
5. Read a book with a mostly white cover
6. Read a book with two prominent colors on the cover

FILLERS
Next, pick what flowers are going to round out your arrangement. Choose two prompts from this category

1. Read a PBC Group Read (Past or Present)
2. Read a book published in 2022
3. Read a book that has been on your TBR over 4 years
4. Read a book that has been adapted into a movie or tv show
5. Read a book that has won a literary award

SPILLERS
Lastly, you're going to choose what type of arrangement you want! Choose one prompt from this category, and tell me if you want your arrangement to be regular or reversed

1. Bouquet. Read a mystery
2. Corsage. Read a romance
3. Vase. Read a science fiction book
4. Wreath. Read a fantasy book

This challenge lasts from April 1-June 30, 2022
