Sam landed and shifted back into her human form, relieved to see the truck still here. She climbed in and started the old pickup.

Ashley appeared in the passenger seat.

"Hey, Ash. Is he always so impossible?"

"Idiot though he may be at times he's loyal and I trust him. I really think he was just oblivious to the whole thing."

"Yeah." She pounded on the steering wheel in frustration. "Okay. You want me to drive you home?"

"Don't blame him." She said then shrugged. "Sure. Why not."

"I don't blame him," she said, pushing on the gas a little too hard and jerking them forward before it smoothed out. "I just...ugh. And after earlier..."

"What part of earlier?" She asked, trying to see exactly what her friend was thinking.

"He made some flimsy excuse about her trying to get him to like her so he would work for free." She rolled her eyes.

"Who knows. She might be one of the girls that are like that. She's the one who healed him?"

"Yeah."

She glanced at her friend, and had to swerve to avoid hitting a tree. Eyes back on the road, she said, "I really like him, Ash." They were almost to their house now.

Ashley tensed when they almost wrecked. "I know you do Sam. Race was being an idiot. It'll work out."

Grace sat down. She loved looking at the trains. Connor walked with JJ. "There she is."
