Sam was regretting this already.

"You're just scared to get in a relationship."

Ashley agreed with her friend there.

"Maybe I'm not. Maybe I'm scared of dying or failing! Or being failed! Or backstabbed!"

"Hey! Sam's not a backstabber." Ash said, coming to her best friend's defense.

"You think I would do that?!"

"Well I'm not! Shouldn't I be the one to make that decision?!" Before she knew it, she was shouting at him.

"I'm going to let you two talk this out." Ashley said, vanishing.

He shook his head. "What if you find out what I do and it hurts you?" He was louder.

"I can take it!! I'm not some princess or damsel in distress!!"

"I don't know if you can! I'm evil!"

"You don't know me," his voice quieted.

"Ashley doesn't even know enough."

"That's not going to happen," she insisted.

"I don't care." Their faces were almost touching. She leaned forward, almost imperceptibly, and her lips brushed against his lightly.

She leaned back. "That's for keeps, whatever you decide."

He sighed. "We can go get some payments....."

"Fine. You want to drive?"

She put it in park. "Fine."

She climbed out of the cab. "You just gonna leave it here?"
