This line stood out to me because it showed me that this prison is trying to convince the prisoners that they are so bad that they need to feel pain.
1. The book I read today (since I didn't have my personal one), is the author talking about the backlash they faced from this book and how they didn't understand it since they weren't actively hurting anyone with the information.
¨Dictatorships may make life miserable, but you can never truly legislate joy or enforce its absence¨ I though this quote was a very interesting interpretation.

One aspect of the section that I was reading from today that really stood out to me was the emotional connection that the main character has to their father who had passed away. We had not gotten much information about this specific aspect of the main character's past before this moment, and to see how she reacted and navigated this was really powerful in understanding how she has gotten to this point overall.

The phone!"
This stood out to me because it's really descriptive if what it's like to have a nightmare and really allows the reader to understand how the character is feeling.
“The power is bound to yourlife. The only way to get it back would be to kill you. And since I like
your company, I'll pass on the offer." I thought this line was funny in the context of the chapter

"My dad tries to shoulder him out, but Malecki has the adrenaline of a desperate man, and pushes my father in." This line stood out to me because it shows how desperate people are becoming because of the tap out.
"Maybe it hurt him more I didn't do it that if I had, but that wasn't why I didn't" I liked this line because i feel like its super powerful that this guy is not letting his dad control his life. Anything Goes: A novel

His feet on the stair risers were quick and eager, the hurrying steps of a man who has come home from a long and bitter war." This line stood out to me because you can tell that Jack (the character) is finally cracking after the hallucinations and hearing/seeing things.
1/2 Quotes from today's reading that stand out to me are , " You are all the colors in one , at full brightness " This stood out to me because i thought it really explains what the book is trying to get across , the book is trying to get across that even though life can be hard and you feel like your only living for others there is more to the world than your daily life from going to school today and life might seem dark but there brighter places and you just have to wander.
"I love it when the sky makes me feel insignificant." This stood out to me because I think it has an interesting meaning. It Ends with Us
"The increase in productivity was due to such intangibles as liking the people with whom they worked..."I like this line because when talking about a business, you can't treat people as machines, the human aspect in a job is the biggest part and that is why people will be productive or not productive.

The descriptive language is so eerie and really sets the tone.
My book is called Tokyo ever after and the lines that stood out to me are "Basically she instigates and I double down. She's the timberlake to my Biel, the Edward to my Bella, the pauly D to my Jersey Shore. My bestie from another teste. My ride or die." These lines stood out to me because i thought they were pretty funny. And that is really what a bestfriend is.
The 1619 Project: A New Origin Storythe quote "if we never had slavery, that takes away many of the things that push the South to independence" was the one that really stood out to me just because of how much African American history was swept under the rug, the entire couple pages that goes over the major impact slavery had on the War of Independence is really good in its entirety.

"This time in her dream, the red veins began to accelerate. Tendril upon tendril of creeping red vine spread over the walls, and heat suffused her body." I chose this quote because I like how descriptive the author is about the dream.
I rarely woke at such a rounded time. I was a man of jagged risings: 8:43, 11:51, 9:26, My life was alarmless.I think that this is something that people can relate to, when waking up at exactly 6:00 or things like 3:33 everyone has their superstitions
"The sky was cloudless but a veil of mist hung in the air from the force of the waves slamming down" I chose this quote just because I like the choice of imagery and it gave the reader a very good detail of the setting.
A quote that stood out to me was when a character named Swamp Thing said,"My point is reaching for what we may never grasp, be it light or grace, is never wrong." This stood out to me because sometimes we need to take a risk in order for a bigger result from it. And in doing so, it will lead to being more brave. Today I read " Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" Quote: " Sometimes I think it wold be weird if there were a skyscraper that moved up and down while it elevator stayed in place".
2. The line she shared with me was very deep and true. " Sometimes hesitation scares me".
I read Allegedly today. The quote I chose was "You ask me we were doing her a favor". This quote stood out to me because it was in reference to putting a 12-year-old in lookup in jail. I was surprised that people thought it was a good idea to do this and that it wouldn't harm her.

everyone knows you never put two brothers in the same boat someone must live to carry on the family name. This line stood out to me because its messed up that basically there saying that only one brother should be allowed to survive and the other one must die

Would not have probably understood that.
"Mabey I can break the cycle of self-hatred, going crazy, and imploding. Because really, what good is THAT gonna do in this world??"I thought that although this quote was kinda aggressive, the idea that hating on yourself doesn't actually solve anything or make anything better stood out.

(Book: A Short History of Nearly Everything) I choose to use this quote because I think it perfectly encapsulates Bryson's writing. He shares these complicated ideas and theories in such lighthearted and easy ways to understand.

I just liked how this one sounded
Today I read "Mindset"1. Quote: "My genius not only defines and validates. It defines and validates the company. It is what creates value. My genius is profit."
This quote is completely wild to me, this ceo feels that he is a genius, so his company is a great as well, which is completely arrogant.Mindset: The New Psychology of Success
Today I read, "Red, White & Royal Blue". This book isn't incredibly meaningful, so its kind of difficult to find a good line but one that stood out to me is,"Alex tells her, 'royal weddings are trash, the princes who have royal wedding are trash, the imperialism that allows princes to exist at all is trash. Its trash turtles all the way down.'"
I thought this quote was funny because I reacently read turtles all the way down by John Green and thought it was a cool connection. I also just like the phrase turtles all the way down.
"Daylight changes your mind about it all, maybe."This quote made me think about how different a mindset can be during the day compared to the night. It can almost sometimes feel like you're two different people, with different thoughts, emotions, actions, etc. The quote just feels very relatable.

Today I read "No Country for Old Men."1. "My wife wont read the papers no more. She's probably right." This quote stood out to me because it kind of ties to recent things in my life. Sometimes news is so upsetting you don't want to read it at all.
2. "That SOB will never see a day in court. Not if I catch him he wont." This quote stood out to me because its saying way more than what its literally saying. Especially being said by a cop, its kind of disturbing.
