Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Alright, that is all I have been able to gopher right now. I actually cannot express how tired I am at the moment... I will gopher again tomorrow. Back in the office now after 7 months, and there is so much going on.

I think I have a lot more options (although some that I thought was obvious I had nothing) so will find them.

Let me know what you want to lock me in for anything, that will help me work out what I can commit to for the other reads.

Not sure what you have me reading already, but did find a Boston book. I have no chocolate/treat/brownie books. I have lots of dual timeline books over 500pp. I could read one of these in the week and nothing else if needed.

I found a 288 page dual timeline book that I can read, so don't read that one. Would rather you spend time on smaller books.☺

I had a confused mind about the scoring of the City Location task, so I am re-evaluating what we need.

Right now, I have nothing assigned to you.

We should be able to complete Chicago.

Please take a look at the spreadsheet assignments and confirm that you are okay with reading what I have listed for you for Chicago. (Red text/yellow background)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Let's see if we can also finish Boston or Berlin. I have several books that will fit those tasks.

Anyone able to read for these:

BOSTON
1️⃣sandy beach on cover

3️⃣set in a college or university

4️⃣religious or cult theme

7️⃣bridge on cover or the word “bridge” in title

9️⃣alcoholic drink in title or on cover ~Maybe Kristie?

🔟set at Christmas time ~ Maybe Ayacchi?

OR BERLIN

5️⃣ mythology as an MPG ~ Maybe Kristie?

6️⃣set during a war ~ Maybe Ayacchi or Vicki ?

7️⃣involves a zoo or has the word “zoo” in the title

8️⃣boat or ship on the cover, or the majority of the story takes place on a boat or ship. Maybe Vicki?

🔟person with a tattoo on cover

message 59: by Vicki (new)

Vicki | 1538 comments It seems like everything I want to read these days is set on a boat.
I have Master and Commander on audio and
A Burial at Sea & Jamrach's Menagerie on paper so I'm pretty sure I can cover that task.

If I'm doing the Dog task in Berlin then I wouldn't want to take set in a war also. It's short so I probably could but I dont want to over commit

I don't have anything for the Boston tasks but I can look again tonight

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments @ Vicki

For BERLIN, can you still read Cellist of Sarajevo as well?

That means you would be reading Maser and Commander, Dark Matter and Cellist of Sarajevo.

And yes I can do Berlin 6-set in a war if you do the dog task. I could maybe handle the dog task too if you want to plan yours later in the week.

My Bad!! Yeah, it should be Task 4 or 9. Since Rusalka have no option in task 3, I left it out.

message 68: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19139 comments I am good for the three books you have me scheduled for. Sitting Murder, Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead, and The Mermaid's Sister. I have all three ready to go.

Do we have one book from each site planned already or just Chicago so far? Looks like we are starting with Chicago, then Berlin, then one from each site? If we just need those 4 tasks for Berlin we can probably make it. I think Rus has one that works for location and I might have one for #5 mythology, but I won't know until later if I'll be able to fit it in. Hopefully Beth will pop in soon and pick up some of the extras too.

I have one picked out for each. Hoping that later in the week, they won't all have to be mine!☻ I think I can do it, since probably all of my Boston reads won't be necessary now.

Teammates may actually be able to read a random fun choice!

message 70: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Kristie wrote: "..../Beth will pop in soon and pick up some of the extras too...."

I am likely in trouble, but I recently used a YLTO! Yearly challenge thread to ask her to contact me. (I got a notice of a recent post of hers, so plunged ahead.)

message 71: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments @Rusalka

For Chicago can you read for either

3️⃣ the word “Lake” in the title
OR
9️⃣Is also a movie or TV show

Ayacchi will then read for the "chocolate task".

Ahhh... well, it's done now. I'm sure she knows teams have been posted because she posted in the main challenge thread, so maybe she's just a mood reader and planning to fill in wherever is needed. I don't really know her reading style. It is only Monday and the toppler doesn't start until Saturday, so she has some time.

We'll just plan as much as we can and leave a running list of tasks that we will need filled. That way when she gets here she'll know what to gopher for and anyone who reads more than planned will also know what we need next.

While you were asleep, the focus changed from Boston to Berlin as the second city to try for. You are off the hook for a Boston book.

But if you want to read it anyway, it is worth the 10 points!☺☺

This is great news!

Kristie was tentative about her Mythology book, because of possibly running out of time..

I think it is the best idea for you to take that task.

message 86: by Almeta (last edited Feb 08, 2022 07:41AM) (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Okay team mates.

We are in really good shape for completing 2 cities and earning the bonus points. Still need 🌎set in BERLIN and perhaps 7️⃣ZOO

If you discover that you can't read any of your books (that are marked in red with yellow background), let the team know. Someone may be able to cover for you.

If you are able to read any of the tasks for Chicago, Berlin, or Boston, that are not typed in red ink under the "Almeta "column....feel free to claim that task. That would ease my way some!

If you just have the time for another book which will fit any task, go for it! That will give us 10 more points.

Most importantly...Enjoy your reads.

message 88: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 2556 comments I can probably do at least 3. But I need to gopher to figure out what I can do. What do you need from me at this point? I will try to make whatever we need work.

message 89: by Beth (new)

Beth (eparks4232) | 2556 comments I can do a Berlin book for sure. Grabbing it and getting it queued up! If we need zoo still, I can see if I can figure something else for that. Otherwise I will just do more books that fit something.

message 90: by Kristie, Moderator (last edited Feb 09, 2022 05:24AM) (new)

Kristie | 19139 comments Hi Beth! I think notifications are down again. At least mine are.

Here's the link to the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/... The tasks with red writing are definite and I think the black writing are options.

I think the Berlin (definitely) and zoo tasks are the two that Almeta would prefer the most if you can do them.

message 91: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Oh Beth, Soooo happy to hear from you!

As Kristie has said, and I believe you noticed, the BERLIN and ZOO tasks are the ones we need for our second city.

After that reading any task for your own pleasure will work!

message 92: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19139 comments Almeta, what about the tattoo task? You don't have that one with red yet.

message 93: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Kristie wrote: "Almeta, what about the tattoo task? You don't have that one with red yet."

Yes, I probably should include that in a task for someone else. I have a book chosen for it, but it wouldn't hurt to have a back up!

message 94: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Hey teamies. I know notifications are not working at the moment, but anything we need to sort out before tomorrow?

Everyone set with downloads and library books?

If we need, my Iron Druid book fits for tattoos (you can see his three bands on the arm holding the sword) as well as mythology, in case that works better for people. Do a bit of a switcheroo (is that what you guys say?) if we need.

message 95: by Vicki (new)

Vicki | 1538 comments Everyone ready to read?!!

I probably won't be around tomorrow as I'm heading to my grandma's to help pack up her house and I can never get internet on my phone there. But im hoping I can plug in my audiobook and get some listening in while there

message 96: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19139 comments I'm all ready to read! I have all my books downloaded and ready to go. I am working tomorrow, so won't be around at start time, but have a long drive home to listen to my audio. Looking forward to it!

message 97: by Ayacchi (new)

Ayacchi | 1722 comments I have all my books in hand. I may start in the morning (toppler is midnight here) listening to Charlie Chocolate and Dear John since the first half is usually the hardest part to read
