Review: Tory is notified that Zak has been captured by a bounty hunter guild so she recruits Kai to help her rescue him. But then Kai's family grab him and things go downhill quick. When a former enemy shows up, things get worse. The rest of the gang come to rescue and help. I had a hard time getting into this book, but it wasn't the fault of the book. My head has been all over this month. Once I really sat down to read it, the book sucked me in. Sadly, it did not end on a happy note and I'm eager to get to the next book in the hope that things improve. I do love these characters. This is a type of world that would be interesting to visit.

And now its Magic Shelf stamp time, Jackie nearly got to do 2 in 1 :D

Back to Vicki DeVine at The Jumble, Sproing and the lovable characters the crows, the non-sparkly vamps & the humans, both good & bad.
It is Trickster Night (Halloween) and Vicki unwittingly mentioned it to the Crows and they are going all out to enjoy the fun. Unfortunately, a folklore tale or not, Crowbones turns up and scares the crows witless.
The mystery deaths of crows/crowguard & humans must be sorted out by Police Chief Grimshaw & head of Silence Lodge Ilya Sanguinati, before the Others take a hand, and nobody wants the Elders involved, especially after last time when the Predation happened.
It turns into a psychological thriller with the Elementals blocking the exits to the town, so no one can escape and the 'contamination' will stop at Sproing.
Really enjoyed the mystery and going back to The Jumble. Also the cameos of Meg (Broomstick Girl) & Simon & various others.

I noticed!!!! hahahaha

Review: This is not a favorite series of mine but I enjoyed this book more than the first ones. The MC, Rachel Morgan, is a powerful witch but seems to be clueless especially where personal relationships are concerned. In this book Rachel is helping Detective Glenn track down a serial killer. While that is the main source of the action, in the background is the relationship between Rachel and Ivy. I wish Rachel would make up her mind to have a more intimate relationship with Ivy or they should live apart. Just really tired of all the angst. The serial killer part of the story was good. My favorite character is Jenks, and he is the main reason I continue with the series.

I think I was expecting a little more from Maddox. He's supposed to be as badass as Knox, as mysterious, as sexy, and yet he felt a little bland. Perhaps cold is a better term. Perhaps its a Descendants thing, with their insular ways or more likely they are trying to hide their curse, though all of them being able to teleport is cool.
I really enjoyed the mystery of who was targeting Raini, and Urban Ink. Don't want to say too much as it would spoil the story.
Enjoyed all the cameos from Harper & baby Asher and the other tattoo girls & their mates, and Lou.
Viper and his MC fallen were a nice touch, pity we didn't see more of them. Perhaps we'll see more in the future.

Review: Katie has returned home to her nonmagical town in Texas removing herself as a hostage and leaving Owen behind in New York to take care of Idris. Surprisingly there is someone in Katie's town who is using magic and they are using it in a criminal way. She sees an ad in a magazine and realizes that Idris is likely running a correspondence school. She contacts Merlin, who sends Owen to track down the culprit, who is believed to be Idris. I love the interaction between Katie and Owen and was really glad that they had another shot at a romance. I like most of Katie's family, but she does let them take advantage of her. It would be best for her to not be so easily available. The revelations in this book were fun, though mostly expected. I do enjoy this series and do plan to continue it. I look forward to what is next for Katie and Owen.

Review: This is the conclusion novel of the Monsters of Verity duology. The action takes place about six months after the end of the first book. Kate is living in Prosperity, hunting monsters. August is still in Verity and serving as a general in Flynn's army. But learning that there is a new monster in Verity, Kate is compelled to venture back to Verity and ultimately join forces with Austin. The evil Sloan is still alive and there are monsters galore. There is a lot of action and a lot of killing and overall, a good story. I would have preferred a different ending though.

Review: An anchor: a psychic connection between two demons that helps keep them in control and prevents them from going rogue and killing indiscriminately. Similar to a soulmate but without the love and romance. For most demons, a treasure to be searched for and welcomed. But not for all demons. So when powerful demon Knox Thorne and imp raised demon Harper Wallis discover that they are anchors, its not all roses and unicorns. Knox doesn't think that he needs an anchor to keep him under control and Harper has abandonment issues. An anchor, because they are linked psychically, will always be a part of your life and Harper doesn't trust that this will happen. But once Knox's inner demon decides that he wants Harper and Knox realizes his immense attraction to her, there isn't a whole lot that Harper can do. Especially when someone is trying to kill her, which raises the ire of Knox and his inner demon. I really enjoyed this book, which surprised me. Knox is a possessive dominant man, which I like in books but despise in real life. However, he takes it to a whole new level. Luckily, Harper has a lot of sass and refuses to kowtow to him, which is something of a shock to him. I love the interactions between Knox and Harper. I really enjoyed Harper's family, though I would die if I had to live with them. Knox's sentinels are interesting and I'm sure that they will have their own romances in future books (can already see the sparks between hellhound Tanner and hellcat Devon). I will definitely be continuing this series and hopefully sooner, rather than later.

Glad you liked Burn, Sam. Its one of my favourites :)

Verity Long is having a very bad day, week, month, life.
She found out her fiance Beau Wydell, who was a cheating womanising lawyer groped her sister after the Wedding Rehearsal dinner. Turns out when you don't show up for the wedding, your former MIL-to-be can claim money you don't have for the cost of the reception, and spread all the gossip about you she can dream up.
So Verity sells everything to cover costs and is still $20,000 short so reluctantly decides she'll have to sell the family home. One of the only things that doesn't sell in the yard sale is a hideous urn/vase so she tips out the dirt on the rosebushes. Turns out they were the ashes of a gangster from the 30's, so now she's seeing ghosts.
Together they go on adventures to earn the $20,000 to save the house. And Beau's older brother, Ellis Wydell, who's a Deputy Sheriff, isn't like the rest of the family. He hire's Verity to clear out some ghosts, and in the process they solve a couple of murders.
This was a fun, fluffy Southern ghost tale and I liked all the characters. Not sure if I'll continue to read the series though.

Review: This book was quite entertaining. MC Maggie MacKay is a tracker using her skills of psychic ability that she got from her mother and the ability to jump between Earth and the magical world that she got from her father. Suddenly she is constantly being attacked by vampires and then an elf, Killian, is sent by the Elf Queen to enlist Maggie's help in preventing the boundary between the two worlds from collapsing. Maggie and Killian start investigating to see what is causing all the trouble and vampire activity and discover that an evil uncle she never knew she had was behind everything. This was a fun read, not great literature, but fast and entertaining. I'll definitely read more of Maggie's adventures.

Review: Months before her 16th birthday, Rae is given a scholarship to a select school in England that she has never heard of. Her uncle, her guardian since her parents died when she was six, encourages her to attend and once there she discovers that every student at the school comes from a family of power wielders. On their sixteenth birthdays, a tattoo appears on their skin that shows them what their power is. The school helps them learn to use their powers, keep them secret and only use them for good. Rae is unusual in that both of her parents were tattooed (a forbidden thing in the culture) and her father used his powers for evil. Everyone is uncertain of what Rae will become once her power hits. I enjoyed this book though Rae comes across as younger than 15 through most of the book. I did feel sorry for her though, with the way everyone treated her without knowing her. Of course, once she gets her tattoo, followers of her father end up getting involved. I think I will continue the series just to find out what happens to Rae as she grows into her power but I don't think I'll be rushing to read it.
