R11: Team #4 ~Four to Score~ WINNING TEAM!
I hope you all had a lovely, long Easter weekend! We spent the weekend in a lovely lodge with great views over the mountains and went hiking every day. I did get a lot of reading done too and am now up to date with Bingo. Will post my reviews today!

Karin and her crew are hired by billionaire Enoch Sobell to retrieve an occult item for him in exchange for two million dollars. The job comes with its difficulties, but Karin, leader of the group due to her ability to see the future in sometimes terrifying hallucinations, who relies on a drug to keep the visions in check, decides that it's worth the risk.
Of course it all goes wrong and the story develops into many different twists and turns.
All up I quite liked the book, but have to say that I never really warmed up to any of the characters. One of the reasons may be the many different POV's throughout the story, that never let me stick with one character long enough to really care for them. Most of them also seemed a little wooden. I enjoyed the parts of the story dealing with the baddie, as there were a number of encounters with the supernatural, angels and demons.
I will definitely check out #2 when it comes out.

This installment tells Dorian's story, who is unable to change into animal form, but is still of great importance to the Pack, due to his abilities. He is still reeling from the loss of his sister to a Psy serial-killer, when he is charged with the protection of Ashaya, a Psy, who tries to save herself and her son from the clutches of the Psy-net.
To be honest I'm a little over the fated-to-be-mated story line, but I enjoyed this book despite of that. The two of them fight their connection for as long as they can, but in the end they can't deny their feelings. I enjoyed seeing them come together.
I'm also interesting in how the world develops further, now that the humans also come into play.

I am not sure how I really feel about this book. This is the second of the series, and I was hoping to like it more than the first one. I love PNR books but I just couldn’t get into the storyline. I enjoyed the secondary characters more than I did the primary ones. The plot was far-fetched even for PNR. I do enjoy Greek Mythology and for that reason the book does not disappoint!
Limos and Arik fight the urge to be together after one kiss. The only problem is that Limos is already betrothed and Arik finds himself in demon hell. In order for these two love birds to be together, they must confront their past and fight for their future.
I do like how Ione brings characters back from prior books. I suggest that if you decide to read this series that you do read in order. It was a little confusing for me, because it has been a while since I read the first book. I will continue the series and am looking forward to the next one.

Kristen Proby is a new-to-me author and I enjoyed this first book in her Love Under the Big Sky series. My only complaint would be that the romance between Josh and Cara felt a little rushed but it was still sweet and fun to watch them reconnect. I really liked how Cara dealt with Josh's nephew, Seth, and all of his problems. The secondary characters were also engaging. I look forward to reading their stories in the rest of the series.

As in the prior two books, Princess Isadora is in trouble and the Guardians must find and save her. In Entwined, Demetrius said that he would rather die than wed Isadora. We find in this book the reason why Demetrius was so nasty to a woman that he fantasized about. Isadora also transitioned from being a weak female to one to be reckoned with. What threw me off was Demetrius’ lineage. One would think as an Eternal Guardian, his background would have been known. However, the fact that he was part witch was not known to anyone nor was his parental lineage. I am looking forward to Orpheus’ story and learning more about this world and Greek Mythology.

I loved Zsadist and Bella's story! I have always heard that this is one of the best books in the series and now I see why. Z is such a complex character after all that he endured in his life and Bella is the perfect match for him. I also liked how the relationship between Z and his twin Phury evolved in this book. I will definitely continue with the series and look forward to reading about the rest of the Brothers.

Toby and her sidekick Quentin are sent off to investigate why Sylvester's niece Jan, who is Countess of a neighboring county, has not been in contact for a while. When the two of them arrive at the company Jan is running, they soon realize that a murder investigation is needed, as a number of her co-workers have been killed.
Well, what can I say. The book seemed very long for what was going on, a little repetitive and let's face it Toby seems to be a really bad investigator. People are killed left, right and center, but stay in the building everyone is picked off one by one out of really flimsy reasons, no one listens to the kind of sensible idea of Toby's to always stay in pairs, not even she herself...it all just seemed very drawn out and kind of boring. There also wasn't enough Tybalt.

Review:
This was a decent wrap up to the series but I just expected a little more. Everything felt so tepid especially when I expected it to be ratcheted up to 1000. Harlow seemed too easy-going and agreeable here, almost to the point of out-of-character. I know she has matured from the first book, but this was almost a complete 180. Though I liked the Crescent City books, I just don't think they compare to the original Comarre series.

I enjoyed Pirate's Alley, mainly because I love DJ as a character, but things were touch and go for a bit there. It felt like the story was treading water after the events of the previous book. I was actually getting a little bored and complacent and then BAM -- everything had changed by the end of the book. I'm looking forward to more from DJ's world, I'm just not sure which world is hers any more.

I came across this series on Kindle Unlimited audiobook and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The premise of it is interesting and unique to me. Scarlett is a null, which means that supernatural powers are null in a radius around her. She works as a cleaner for the supernatural leaders of the vampires, witches and wolves in LA to help keep their existence a secret from humans. When three vampires are found dead in a park, Scarlett meets officer Jesse Cruz and ends up working with him to solve the crime. I really enjoyed this first installment and look forward to learning more about Scarlett in the next book. The ending sets up an interesting hook for book 2.

I've been waiting with baited breath for this book, seeing as I absolutely loved The Parasol Protectorate series. Was this book as good as the installments in the earlier series? Not quite, but it was still a fun and delightful read.
Prudence Alessandra Maccon Akeldama, Rue for short, is a metanatural which means she can steal the form of vampires and werewolves by touching them for a certain period of time. Not as prim and proper as her mother, Rue is a wild and outrageous young lady wrecking havoc on London. When she receives a dirigible from her adopted father Dama, which she promptly paints like a ladybug and names 'Spotted Custard' as well as a tea-acquiring mission in India the real adventure begins. Armed with one of her mother's parasols, and a group of friends, including Primrose Tunstell, fluffy and clothes obsessed, her twin brother Percy, well-read, but slightly aloof and Quesnel, engineering genius, she floats to India, but soon realizes that there are more issues waiting for them than just tea.
This was another very witty and a little over the top story from one of my favourite authors and it gave me a big smile for much of the time I spent with it. It took me a little bit to get used to the new cast but once I was over my initial sadness over having lost Alexia as protagonist, I warmed up to Rue and her friends pretty quickly. It helped that we still meet all the old favourites as well and find out what happened to them since the Parasol Protectorate finished.

Review:
This is book 3 in the Others series. I normally don’t read fantasy books but have really enjoyed this one. This series has definitely taken me out of my comfort zone. I really like Simon – the shapeshifter leader of the Others. I finally understand Meg and her relationship to Simon. The tension between the others and humans are building. In Vision in Silver, Meg faces new challenges of living with the Others. She must force herself to be strong to survive. Simon won’t allow any harm to the humans who are in alliance with the Others, especially since Meg is human and needs them to survive. It is apparent that Simon will do anything for Meg.
Meg’s view of the world is almost childlike due to her past. She is beginning to understand her role and her attraction for Simon. Looking from the outside, it appears that Simon and Meg are definitely a couple, being together most of the time. However, it is apparent that their relationship is different than most. The jest of this series is about two different cultures struggling to fit into an unstable world and in the process trying to find peace.

For me this title is misleading, and I’m really glad. I have been putting this book off since I assumed that it dealt with Martians, life on Mars, and NASA mumbo jumbo. I was so wrong! I really enjoyed this book and loved the narrator. I read very few science fiction books, but the science fiction was more factual than some off the wall fantasy scene. The setting was Mars, and the main character, Mark Watney, was humorous so as not to dwell on his current situation, which was being left behind and stuck on Mars. Mark used his entire astronaut training in order to survive.
There were several quotes in this book that really stood out. One of my favorites is “They say once you grow crops somewhere, you have officially ‘colonized’ it. So technically, I colonized Mars.
In your face, Neil Armstrong!” This book is scheduled to become a movie. I bet it will be a hit! I highly recommend this one!

Review:
I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, the ick factor re: Dani and Ryodan was absent here so yay for that but then on the other hand, I felt like this was a fairly long book for so little to have actually happened. I felt like Mac regressed as a character as well. I finally started to like her in Shadowfever but she was back to her whiny, complaining ways in Burned. I didn't really like the way KMM solved the problem of Dani's age either. Also didn't like the dumb conflict between Mac and Barrons. I did like everything with Lor & Jo and Kat though... both of those storylines should be interesting. There is progress in the Christian story too. Overall though, I felt like this book was just treading water.
