So I stayed up waaaay too late last night reading this book, but it just sucks you in. I don't think it was as strong as the third book, but still a great read. A had a few technical issues with this book though. (view spoiler) Overall, though, I did enjoy this read and thought the story was a lot of fun. Even though it wasn't as tight as most Brigg's stories are, I always love a visit with Anna and Charles.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Dragos and Pia are my favorite couple in this series. Pia heads to South Carolina to repair relationships with the Elves and Dragos has to stay in New York to conduct the Sentinel Games to find replacements for Rune and Tiago. When Dragos loses communication with Pia, he heads south to find her and winds up helping the Elves to fight against a rogue Elf who is controlling other Elves with his God Machine. Pia is also expecting their first child and I loved the ending. I hope we get more of Dragos, Pia and Liam in future books.

Sin is the only female Seminus demon in existence. She accidentally created a werewolf virus that is killing off werewolves. Connall is a dhampire paramedic at Underground General Hospital who is infected with the virus. They are thrown together when the only way to cure Con's virus is for him to drink Sin's blood. They can't stand each other so it is fun to watch them fall for each other. I love Sin's sense of humor and how protective her brothers are of her despite only recently finding out who she is. I loved this series and will definitely continue with the Lords of Deliverance spin off series.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this final installment in this series as much as the previous books. The pacing was a little odd, with the first half of the story dealing with the capture of a Night Hag and the second half dealing with a lawsuit filed against Daisy's hometown, that could have devastating repercussions for the Eldrich community. The very abrupt segue between the two parts made it feel like reading two different books.
Daisy's love-life is finally sorted out though, and while not quite the way I would have liked it, it was well done.
All up the book dragged a little for me and I only really got drawn in during the big finale in which Daisy finally needs to face the dark cloud above her head, aka her birthright.

This is the first in a series so there is still some world building to conquer. Loving someone who you hate would have to be difficult, and that is exactly what happens between demon slayer Tayla and demon Eidolon. Sworn to protect all, Dr. Eidolon runs a hospital where Tayla is admitted after she sustained injuries. Torn between his brothers and Tayla, Eidolon must decide if he can trust her or if she is the one that is tormenting his people.
I liked the idea of a demon hospital, which introduces the reader to Eidolon’s two brothers as well as some quirky hospital staff. The writing was smooth, and the narrator really contributed to the storline. I have been putting this series off and don’t know why. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is the second book in the Demonica series. While I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first one, it was a close tie. I would have liked it more, but at times I found Runa to be annoying. I found Shade to be a jerk and arrogant. He will stop at nothing to save his own ass including hurting women for “their own good. “
Runa and Shade were a couple the prior year, but Shade left her with a permanent reminder of his betrayal when the day he left she became a warg.
Runa and Shade are at odds and fight their temptation to be with each other. Runa has sworn revenge against Shade who betrayed her, and Shade is cursed to suffer eternal torment if he falls in love. Now, both must work together in order to escape the enemy.
While there are recurring characters in this book, so far, each one can stand alone. However, I do recommend that you read Pleasure Unbound in order to get a gist of the colorful world building.
I really enjoyed the 'Demonica' series. Have any of you read the 'Lords of Deliverance' series, which I think is a spin-off? I haven't gotten around to it yet...And by the way, I should have my Demon shelf book finished by either tomorrow or Thursday. I have been busier than usual these past couple of weeks, but I'm hoping it's calming down a little.

It is a spin off and I plan on reading once I make a dent in Demonica.

World After (#2 Penryn & the End of Days) by Susan Ee
Shelf: Demons
Date read: 5/3/15
Rating: ★★★★
Initially this book didn't draw me in as utterly as the first in the series. One reason may be the fact that it was a very long time since I read #1 and that I had forgotten most of what had happened. Once I had caught up on who's who and what was going on, it still dragged a little for me though up until nearly midway through the book. But once Penryn and Raffe were reunited and we found out a little more about the Angels' plans as well as glimpsing a little more of Penryn's little sister, I couldn't put the book down. And the ending makes me really excited for the next installment!
I would think it is...but you might want to wait for confirmation from Sandra? How is this series by the way, I've got it on my TBR list for a while now?
Just got confirmation from Sandra on the discussion thread so that's what I'll be reading. I really like them, Kerstin. The first two with Verity were the best but these two with her brother have been pretty good too.

I love Charley, she just cracks me up with all of the names she has for her body parts and possessions. At the beginning of this book, she is dealing with the aftermath of events in the previous book by binge shopping on home shopping channels. When a woman shows up convinced that someone is trying to kill her and asks for Charley's help, Charley seems to snap out of her funk. Charley encounters Reyes after he is released from prison and their relationship remains complicated. I enjoy the banter between them and how their personalities are so different. One of my favorite things about this series is the various quotes before each chapter from t-shirts and other things. They are hilarious! I will continue with the series and look forward to finding out what Charley gets into next.

While I enjoyed this book, several times I had to be sure that I was on another page. Several pages overlapped by giving the same detail verbatim. Michael Thorpe was a lieutenant and a forbidden temptation to Lady Hannah. Lady Hannah was a Marquis daughter and as such was expected to live by the list of her mother. Her life was so dictated that her mother would measure her waist daily and never allowed her to eat many sweets.
Michael and Hannah met at a ball hosted by her parents. Lady Hannah was put in a compromising position when one of the men from the ball kidnapped her so that he could force her to marry. Michael located Hannah and her captor and ensued a scandal throughout London. Hannah’s parents sent her to Germany to live with her cousins.
Unbeknownst to Hannah and Michael, Michael was kidnapped as a toddler and is actually in line to the Throne. I really liked the changeling Prince part of the story as it created suspense. However, the characters didn’t seem genuine and the story lacked substance. Overall, it was an easy and relaxing read.

This series is starting to drag a little for me. Leila's got herself kidnapped yet again, Vlad is still after Szilagyi and the book seemed a little too long for what was actually going on. The relationship angst has been taken down a notch, which I was very grateful for and there actually was a bit of growth between the two of them which was nice to see. The ending had an interesting twist and I'm curious to see how it all ends.
That sucks that this book dragged, Kerstin. I was actually likeing this series more than Night Huntress but I'm not please to see Leila gets kidnapped AGAIN! I have it on my Kindle and will get to it eventually.I should have my green/teal read done by tomorrow. Sorry it's taking me so long; I got behind on my reading for my blog and had to catch up with that first.
Maybe you will enjoy the book more than me, it still received a lot of really good ratings from a lot of my GR friends. But to be honest, I think I personally would have been happier with just one really good Vlad book, instead of an entire series.

Review:
I actually liked Alex and Shelby much more in this book than the previous Half-Off Ragnarok, but I disliked Shelby's family so much that it brought down the overall read for me. The story around the werewolves was interesting, but I felt like it took a little too much time to take off. There was way too much time spent on Shelby's family just being out and out horrible to Alex because they don't like him on principal, his family is ex-Covenant and he's an American, rather than anything he has actually done. I liked the Australian setting, but not enough to balance the cost of not having some of my favorite characters around -- Crow, Dee, Sarah, and the rest of the Price/Baker clan -- especially when there weren't many new likeable characters to replace them with. Alex's story has been fun, but I will be glad to get back to Verity in the next book and am looking forward to Antimony's stories for installments 7 and 8.

This book is the first book in the Dark-Hunter series but dates back to the novel, Fantasy Lover. The hero Kyrian of Thrace was the best friend of the hero in Fantasy Lover., Julian. Both are from ancient Greece. Allowed to become a
Dark Hunter upon his death, his purpose in life is to stalk demons who prey on humans and steal their souls. I really enjoy Greek Mythology and this was a fun and easy read. One of Kyrian’s nightmares came true – he woke up in present day New Orleans handcuffed to a modern day accountant. However, Amanda is no ordinary accountant as her family are vampire hunters. Kyrian is surprised at Amanda’s passion but has demons to bear before he is able to love again.
This was an easy read, and I am looking forward to getting to know more of the dark hunters. At times it was slow but was a good start to a promising series.
