Title: Soulbound by Kristen Callihan
Rating: ★★★★
Read: 03/10/15
# pages: 337
Review: The Darkest London series is quickly becoming a favorite of mine; mainly because of the varied characters and the steampunk environment. Perhaps the closest series I can relate to it is Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate series, but even that one didn’t have as many paranormal species in it.
Soulbound is the 6th book in the fantastic series and involves Adam, the Keeper of Death, and Eliza, who ends up being Maeve’s granddaughter. Adam and Eliza’s meeting is a bit rough along with the start of the book. If you haven’t read the previous novels it will take you a bit to catch up on their animosity towards each other. Their relationship is heart wrenching and these two go through a lot to end up with their “happily ever after.”
It was also extremely satisfying to revisit characters from the previous novels. Their roles fit Soulbound perfectly and worked well with the overall story arc. I love when an author can seamlessly blend a multitude of characters together without them being gratuitous.
It's clear that the next story will be Sin's; who had several pivotal scenes in Soulbound. I can’t wait to read his upcoming story in Forevermore.

For some reason the first 50-100 pages of these books I always struggle. It's hard slog reading and takes ages to get through....but I know once I get halfway - I can't put these books down! The girls have even more on their plate this time round and Menolly and Nerissa hit a tough patch. In the end, I'm looking forward to the next book (as always)

I really enjoyed Crimson Veil as well, Belinda! I'm definitely looking forward to the next one!
I should have my PNR book done tonight and the review posted tomorrow at some point.

Fun book about Jane Austen as a vampire living in present times. It had a little mystery/suspense to it that was brief and easily resolved. I can't decide if I wished it was longer or if I'm glad it was concise. I about got severely annoyed by the open ending until I realized it was the first in a series. While I liked this book well enough, I'm not sure I'm interested enough in continuing with the series.

This book started off a little slow, but when it picked up, it was so hard to put down! I really liked Hedi, but I'm not sure what I think of Bridge so far. His attraction to Hedi seemed to come out of nowhere (to me anyway), and I just had a hard time buying that he was as into her as he appeared to be. I'll reserve judgment though until I've read more of the series. I really loved Merry, so credit has to be given to Leigh Evans for making an amulet into a loveable character! I'm really looking forward to reading the next book.

This was a great ending to this series. I'm happy with how it ended. I was surprised at how the conflict was resolved; it was slightly shocking to me. I did shed a little tear when the story was being wrapped up and it showed everyone in their (hopefully) happily ever afters. The only negative (not enough to bring down my stars though) is that Kaylee is too much of a martyr sometimes and can be too impulsive/quick to act. But in the end it all worked out (view spoiler) . Sad to see the series end, but I'm glad it ended before getting too ridiculous and long.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

WEEK 2 –

Title: Shadow's Claim by Kresley Cole
Rating: ★★★
Read: 03/19/2015

Review: Although I love the Immortals After Dark (IAD) universe and their stories this one was pretty average to me. Trehan and Bettina are fated mates who happen to discover this by accident. Once that happens we can pretty much guess the storyline. There are a couple of twists, for example the tournament and Bettina’s relationship with Caz, but even those twists didn’t redeem this one for me.
I’m also not sure why it has to be its own series since the Lore is predominately featured in it. Perhaps time will tell on that one. Overall, just “meh” for me.

And we're officially ready for our first stamp! Yay!!! *happy dance*

Wow, there wasn't a slow moment in this book! I had a very hard time putting it down, and I wish I had number three on hand so I could start it right away. Trowbridge grew on me in this one. I'm definitely a fan of him now! I'm very curious to see where the series goes from here!

Another end to a series. Not quite what I had in mind for the characters but better than some endings (divergent series and sookie stack house anyone?). It was sad to see this end as it was one if the first PNR/UF series I started.

WEEK 4 – Paranormal Romance

Title: Bound by Flames by Jeaniene Frost
Rating: ★★★★
Read: 03/23/2015
# pages: 342 pages
Review: Bound by Flames is the third novel in the Night Prince Series. I have to say I enjoyed this one a lot more than the previous Twice Tempted. There is a ton of action and “some” resolution to the ongoing story of the previous two books.
I’m beginning to like Vlad and Leila more and more with each installment; although it looks like there will only be one more in the series. Vlad has been one of my favorite characters since he first appeared in the Night Huntress books, and although I was a tad apprehensive of seeing by favorite book boyfriend get his gal in this series, I can honestly say Leila is one cool gal who has a crappy life but is finally getting the happiness she deserved.
If you loved the Night Huntress series but haven’t succumbed to peer pressure to read this series; well you should! It is one fantastic series that should be read in order for best enjoyment that will have you questioning the legend of Dracula forever.

I'm on my phone now but I'll get online tonight once my son's in bed and request our PNR stamp! Woohoo!

WEEK 3 – Green/Teal

Title: Only His by Susan Mallery
Rating: ★★★★
Read: 03/24/2015
# pages: 344 pages
Review: I really enjoy a good love story and Susan Mallery never fails to deliver one. I especially love those second chance stories and Nevada and Tucker’s is definitely one of those.
Only His is the 6th book in the Fool’s Gold Series, but is the third book in a grouping (Only Mine, Only Hers and Only His), that feature sisters that happen to be triplets. Nevada Hendricks works in the construction industry and her new boss, Tucker Janack, just happens to be a mistake best left in the past. At least that is what Nevada thinks
.
Both Nevada and Tucker’s relationship has the ease of long friendship and their banter is so effortless you just know these two should be together. The two do not have the all-out passionate fireworks that are often written about; but for these two I don’t think the passionate romance would have worked as well for them.
Tusker’s old girlfriend and Nevada’s old friend, Cat, makes a surprise visit to Fool’s gold and creates angst for the pair. Tucker’s past relationship with Cat, which had the intensity of a nuclear reaction is both a source of embarrassment and distrust of relationships for Tucker. His ability to work, talk and Nevada’s spirit is what attracts him to her and eventually is the cause of his love for her.
There are a lot of sideline stories going on in this book. Perhaps way more than are necessary. Although I for one am happy with Jo’s story.
Fool’s Gold is a series that I will continue to read and it looks like there are plenty of potential storylines. If you love contemporary small town romance and have not checked this series out; you should do so.

Love this series so much! Like I can't think of anything to say other than LOVE IT!
But seriously, I enjoyed Adam and Mercy's relationship and loved how Adam's ex-wife's presence added a little tension to their relationship, but he still was firmly in Mercy's camp.
New character, Gary, is a welcome and somewhat comical addition. I'm hoping he sticks around for more books.
Very interesting storyline. I'll say this, Patricia Briggs seems to have pretty unique plots. (view spoiler)
Bring on the next in the series! Can't wait.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
