Steph Ann | 1220 comments Finally decided on Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels, #7) by Ilona Andrews for my favorites pick. :)

Belinda | 801 comments Thanks guys. It's a slow process getting my back right. It's just super frustrating because I can't do much of anything at all when it flares up:(
However I do have book to review!

Week 1: favourites
Kiss of Frost (Mythos Academy, #2) by Jennifer Estep
Finished: 21/2/15
Stars: 5
Review:
Another great story from Jennifer Estep! I really don't know why it took me so long to start this series as I love her Elemental Assassin series. Although the bad guy in this was a little obvious, I didn't pick the connection and Gwen discovers some new and twists and turns about herself which set up the next book nicely

The Art of Stealing Time (Time Thief, #2) by Katie MacAlister (SOS bookshelf)

Read: 2/21/15
Rating: 3.5 stars

Review

I hadn't read the first book in this series, but it was easy enough to catch up. This was much like other Katie MacAlister books I've read: extremely lighthearted and funny, but kind of weak when it comes to the overall plot. Still, the humor definitely kept me interested and entertained for the whole of the book,so that's saying something!

Here's a link to my full review over at Dark Faerie Tales: Review.

Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels, #7) by Ilona Andrews

Read: 2/23/15
Rating: 5 stars

Review

I always have a hard time reviewing books in this series because I'm inevitably left speechless by just how good they are. This one was no different. It starts off with a bang and never lets up on the momentum until you turn the final page. I honestly have no complaints at all. With how it ended, I'm very curious to see where the series goes from here. It should be a fun ride!

Steph Ann | 1220 comments My plan is to read Night Seeker (Indigo Court, #3) by Yasmine Galenorn for the Demons shelf, unless for some reason it won't work for the other team challenge I'm doing.

Crystal S (crystalann) | 487 comments Just finished my 6 days of 10 and 11 hour shifts. I have 2 days to get as much reading done as possible before I go out of town to see my fam for the weekend. Working on my free space book. I couldn't find my copy of Night Broken, so I am hoping I actually have it. I'd hate to have to switch it to another book.

Demons book will (tentatively) be: No Mercy (Were-Hunter, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon .

10 and 11 hour shifts do not sound like fun! My husband has been working 10 hour shifts since November, and I can see how draining it is!

Crystal S (crystalann) | 487 comments Yeah, I'm not a fan of the longer shifts. We rotate weekends and on weekends there's only 2 shifts, day and night, instead of 3, so to make up those longer weekend hours we work fewer days but longer shifts during the week. Toward the end of this six days I was sleeping 9+ hours a night (instead of the usual 7 or so). I'd get home, eat something, watch about 30 minutes of TV, go to bed intending to read my book and fall asleep after about 3 pages.

message 71: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 1220 comments I've had nights like that! Granted, mine is usually due to an almost 6-month-old deciding to start the day at 4:45am rather than from working long hours, but it's still frustrating to plan on getting some reading done only to continually drop my Kindle because I'm falling asleep lol.

Crystal S (crystalann) | 487 comments Sunshine by Robin McKinley

Shelf: Free Space
Finished: 02/27/15

I was a bit disappointed in this book. I'd heard it was amazing, but it fell flat with me. I think I just did not care for the author's style of writing. Maybe too much thinking and description and not enough action? I was left confused at times; possibly I was reading too fast, but also I had to reread sentences constantly, because the author would start a sentence, then halfway through it would go off on a tangent, before returning to the original sentence and the tangent was so long that I'd forgotten the first part. I have too short an attention span for this nonsense. LOL. I noticed this less as the book went on, so I either got used to it or it stopped.
The ending was a non-ending, kinda open ended. If I didn't know better, I'd say there was a sequel. But there's not, to the best of my knowledge. And even if there was, I likely wouldn't read it.

Haha! I've done reading on my iPad and dropped it on my face when dozing off. Those things are heavy so it would of course hurt my nose. LOL

I am going to have to order Night Broken from Amazon. I thought I had bought it recently but I think that I'm thinking of the previous Mercy Thompson book. So I'll get started on No Mercy next.

Belinda | 801 comments Finished my demons book last night. But I totally forgot to post a review this morning! *head desk*

Shelf: demons The Ruby Circle (Bloodlines, #6) by Richelle Mead
Finished: 3/3/15
Stars: 5
Review:
It's almost sad to have finished the vampire academy series/spinoffs. It has been a great world to get list in and the characters all blend and evolve so nicely. Lots happrned in this book and maybe there is room for another spinoff series down the track....I enjoyed this and frequently read til after midnight. The ending felt a little rushed but the author did s good job of resolving all the issues that had arisen through out the series.

I'll be finally getting around to Thirteen (Women of the Otherworld, #13) by Kelley Armstrong . I've picked it and put it down so many times because other books had jumped in front of it but I've been desperate to find out what happens to these characters in the end!

Review

This series is slowly getting better for me. I love the world Galenorn has built and often find myself caught up in the action. The story falls flat when it comes to the romance aspect though. I am just not warming up to Grieve at all and find myself wanting to skim through romance scenes, which is not good. All in all though, I enjoyed this much more than the first two books and am actually looking forward to reading the next one!

The Dark Hunter books are usually either hit or miss with me, and luckily this one leaned more towards the hit side. It took me awhile to warm up to the main characters and it also kinda had a slow start.
I've mentioned it in other reviews of books in this series, but Kenyon's mythology is getting too complicated. I have a lot of trouble keeping it all straight. IMO, as much as I love me some Dark Hunters, it's time to put this series to rest (I say this knowing there's already several more books out there).

I wasn't sure what I was going to think of Savannah as a narrator, but I was very pleasantly surprised. This book was very action packed, and there was never really a lull. With only two books left in the series, I'm very interested to see what happens next!

I'm getting through my green book (Jane Bites Back). Amazon has still not shipped Night Broken for the favorites shelf and I'm getting annoyed. If it's not here by the time I finish my green book I'll pick something else. Luckily if it does get here I usually read the Mercy Thompson books in about a day.
