I read this book when I was in middle school (2006-2008) and it was a YA paranormal book that was the first in a series following a girl with a power, I believe it was seeing into the future, but her visions were vague and she didn't always understand what they meant. I think she also had a guardian angel type character because all oracles or whatever she was had them, and hers was a guy. (I think there was something about someone living in a barn on the property, either the main girl or the guardian angel guy? I'm not sure that part is really fuzzy for me so it could be completely wrong.) I also remember she had a friend character who went by a nickname like Thorn or something, but in like the second book it's revealed that her real name is Beth, but she hates the name because it's from Little Women.

thanks for the suggestion!unfortunately I don't think it's this one because the friend is known as Beth and in the book I read before there was a specific moment where it's revealed that the friend's name is Beth and it's a whole thing because she hates being named after the character from Little Women, and she's very much in the goth/punk scene. I also feel like book I read was much more in the plot driven urban fantasy area than this book.
It does have a lot of similarities though!

I think this is The Seer series by Linda Joy Singleton. The first book is Don't Die, Dragonfly. I haven't been able to find a preview of the second or third books to find the part when Thorn tells the main character that her real name is Beth, but there's this quote from the fourth book, Sword Play:Thorn said she'd visit when things settled down. She closed her message with, “Miss you, Beth.” Which I knew was her way of apologizing because none of her other friends knew her real name. I'd only found out by accident and gained her trust by keeping it a secret.
Thorn, aka Beth Ann, is also in the Buried novel (described as "Goth Girl Mystery #1" but there is only the one book).

I clicked on the links and as soon as I saw the cover for Don't Die, Dragonly I immediately recognized it!! And in the "Readers Also Enjoyed" section right in the middle it also had another book I was wanting to find but was way fuzzier on the details!! Oh my gosh thank you so much!!
