A couple of things to keep in mind:
✸ Communication is key. Please make sure to check in regularly with your team.
✸ Let your team know if it looks like you won't get your review posted by Thursday, 11:59pm. You do have all of Friday to submit your review, but it can be intensely frustrating for your captain if they don't know when or if they can expect your review before the deadline.
✸ If you know beforehand that you won't be able to read and review a book during a certain week, you can request a pre-arranged absence from me, either by posting the request in the discussion thread or by sending me a pm. The request has to be submitted before the team rolls for the week in question, can only be approved by me as the mod in charge of running the game, and has to state a reason for the absence. (Reasons for pre-arranged absences can include e.g. going on vacation or work trips, planned hospital stays, exam period, etc.)
✸ If you do not have a pre-arranged absence and won't be able to finish your book in time for an unforeseen reason, please let your team know as soon as possible. If the team has earned the free pass, it can be used to cover the missing review. Without a free pass, the team has to sit out the next roll.
✸ We all know that real life gets in the way sometimes, be it through family emergencies, work emergencies, natural disasters, technical problems making it impossible to get online, or in other ways. That being said, please do keep in mind that this is a team challenge and your team relies on you to do your part unless an emergency occurs.
✸ If you find that the pressure of keeping up with the pace of the game gets too much for you or you wish to stop playing for any other reason, you can drop out of the challenge at any time. In that case, please let your team captain and/or me know that you wish to drop out rather than just disappearing without a word so your team won't be penalized when you fail to turn in your review. Thank you!
Captain's Handbook
✸ The team's captain is its chief organizer. This includes rolling the dice, posting the team's new spot to the team thread and the Post Your Spot thread, collecting links to team members' review posts in a single post to be linked in the Post Your Spot thread, doublechecking that books and review posts comply with requirements, reminding team members to post their reviews in time if necessary, etc.
✸ The captain may delegate some tasks, such as rolling and posting the new spot to the team thread, to another team member if they so choose. (Either a designated roller who fulfills this role every week, or whichever team member is online first once rolling is possible.) Collecting reviews into a single post and posting to the Post Your Spot thread should always be handled by the captain.
✸ Instead of having everything handled by a single team captain, teams can also choose two co-captains to handle the workload.
✸ Selection posts are not strictly required by the game's rules and I won't be checking for them. It's up to the team captain to decide whether they want them.
✸ If the team captain requests a pre-arranged absence, it's their responsibility to arrange for another team member to step in as temporary captain.
✸ The team captain is my primary point of contact for the team and should allow receiving private messages.

I'm looking forward to clearing up some series that I've left languishing for the newest pretty - there are just so many books I want to read!!

I’m in Oregon and read a little of everything. But my favorites are mysteries, historicals, and non-fiction. I’m game to read anything if it helps a challenge!
This looks like a fun challenge. Looking forward to getting started.

Nope. I've played a couple of times. I like it. Helps me get back to some series & get over the hump in others. You know That one book in the series That is holding you up from getting further in the series because it just doesn't speak to you.

I can't take on captain since I am captaining for UNO, but I can be a good #2. I am only on at night during the week. Anyone willing to step up for us?

I don't mind either rolling, doing links or posting our spot.
I DON'T WANNA deal with reminding or nagging people to do their Completion Post & review.

High Five

or All Hands on Deck

so thing to do with a Fist...

I like High Five 😀
I think I’ve used Serial Killers with this challenge before, so not original but fun.

If you handle the posting stuff, I can be the heavy. I’ll set a reminder to message people before check in who haven’t posted their books. Gotta look over the rules and see what we need and when.

Denise was able to message our missings. I tried but it would not accept PM from me. Their settings may only allow friends or Mods to message them.

Looking forward to our first roll.

I'm Shannon and also in Oregon. I have 2 girls 18 & 21 still at home most of the time, a hubby, 3 dogs (1 is a tiny puppy) and 2 cats. Full house here. I read only M/M and all kinds of books within the genre. I have so many series to work through it's just frustrating trying to remember them all.
Can't wait to get this show on the road. Also like "High Five"!

Questions...
1. Do you want to take turns rolling? Or... Would you like just me to roll?
2. Do you want to do Selection Post? (not required.) all that is required is a Completion Post like following...
COMPLETION POST ~ Week ?
Spot: ?
[bookcover] [book] (series name #?) by [author] (just link the book somehow)
Fits: (how this book fits)
Bonus; (as if it works for a Bonus points)
Completed: (finish date)
Rating: (how many ★'s)
Review: (Written review of book, please make a minimum three sentence if not longer.)
3. How competitive are you? Are you dying for Bonus Points? want to bbs the first ones across the finish line?
Me? Not at all. 🤣🤣🤣

Let me look at my #8 in series. Maybe I can get us that 2 in 1 bonus.

Just Business by Anna Zabo
Pages: 318
Qualification: One person on cover
Read: 1/22/22
Rating: ★★★★
Whew, that was intense. Started out snarky then went to the BDSM sexy, then kind of heartbreaking and back to the good stuff. Much more emotional than I was expecting. Not the fluffy read I was prepared for but really good. Great read.

Bonus: Cover Item: One person
Completed: 01/24

Review: This was a reread and I changed my rating from 4* to 3*- I didn't enjoy this as much this time around. I read rather than listening to it and it was a slog to get through - much too long. It was good to see everyone get their HEA though.

I don't have any books for #8!
I started reading The Mark of Athena (#8 in combined Camp Half Blood), but couldn't finish it - I could barely start it, it was so awful!
So I decided to go for Agatha Raisin, BUT I'm on #4... luckily they are very quick reads, so I can read 2 a day, but it's already Tuesday... :-D (Or Wednesday here in Sweden...)
Bah, I'll make it :-D

Review: This was a 2-fer from one of my favorite authors & favorite series. I really HATE to lower the rating for this book as it should have be a 5* but I had to more than barely ding it for a mistake Duncan pulled. Well get to that in a minute because once I start on him it may be awhile...

Anyhoo... in this book you got two girls running away from the life their families have planned out for them.
The 1st romance was Ines & Duncan. I really liked this couple. it's funny in places because she makes him think she doesn't speak English so he won't take her back to London after she hides out in his carriage.
The 2nd romance is Stratford & Wellesley. This is a Friends to Lovers, Secret Love type of Romance.
Both H's were friends. Stratford & Duncan were in the War Group Survivors together. Ines & Wellesley are strangers who become friends after the meet up at an inn & continue on in a road trip to Scotland together.

DUNCAN... What an ASSHOLE!!!

Don't get me wrong, I usually LOVE the assholes. But he pulled something that had me turning my back on him. Ines forgave him ALOT sooner than I would have. I'd have made him Grovel. & on top of that I would have let (view spoiler)
Boy, was he....

What he did to Ines & how he hurt her...

Oh & about...

She doesn't get a pass either.

BTW, the rant is only over because I don't wanna waste my time on the waste of words because the mistakes these characters made were Uncalled For!

If not for these highly offensive mistakes these 2 characters, this would have been a 5* read.
So all Hail to the Douches!

I can always fall back on Agatha Christie or Terry Pratchett if it looks like I can't make it :-D

On the Way to the Wedding by Julia Quinn
Pages: 384
Fits: Book 8 in the Bridgerton series
Completed: 1/26
Rating: 4 stars
Review: I love spending time with the Bridgerton family! Gregory reminds me of Colin. He thinks he wants one thing, then true love sneaks up on him while he isn't paying attention, and *bam*, he's done. This was my second time reading the series, and I'm sure it won't be the last. 4 satisfied stars.
