I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Sally! I have started writing the second (and final) season, although just barely. These first six volumes were 4 years in the making, and it’s so cool to finally have them all out and in people’s hands.

That’s wonderful to hear, Char! So glad you had fun with it. My agent started calling 1-6 the first season a bit ago, and it sums up the structure well, with the sixth volume and halfway point of the series serving as a finale for that’s everything come so far.

Those are the big questions! (view spoiler)[ My first thought went to a cross between M. Night Shamalan's The Happening and Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive, but plants and comets don't seem to fit... 😊

The whole revelation of seeing the moon at the very end sure mixes things up and makes it more confusing, which is great! Makes me lean towards supernatural in some way?? Not sure how that affects some of the people though...

Like Terry said, (view spoiler)[I was all in on the plot of the sun dying and it being a phenomenon like this but when John saw a sliver of the moon at the end, it put me back to the beginning and having no clue.

Maybe the darkness has another element in it and that's why certain people are losing their sh!t and others can find a way to survive. I really liked seeing the contrasts to that. It gives a great feel to a post-apocalyptic book!

I finished and I read over 2/3 of it in one sitting I love dystopian but I haven’t read a whole lot of more supernatural dystopia (like where it’s not a contagion or zombies or something 😂) so this was different for me and I really enjoyed it! Great book selection! And I agree we should read the whole series as a group! That sounds fun!

I have purposely been avoiding this discussion, because I hadn't had the chance to start the book. Now I have and this is Not At All what I expected. I don't know why, but I thought this was going to be some sort of fantasy story. I am 45% in and could not have been more wrong if I tried. This is a hardcore post-apocalyptic storyline, so far.
It is interesting to note that the reaction of the characters in this book reminded me very much of the reaction the characters had in Nightfall by Isaac Asimov.

Mr. Barnett, if possible to answer without providing spoilers, was that a conscious decision, or a happy accident?

Happy accident! I’m not familiar with Asimov’s work on a personal level, so it’s really interesting to hear about those similarities. Thank you for sharing.

Ok I really enjoyed the read and these are my predictions for the books in the future (view spoiler)[ I think like they said in this book the darkness is alive and it’s clearly affecting the characters psychologically. I think the idea of something so fundamental to humanities core beliefs as "The sun rises each day." being turned on it's head could cause a person to lose their pooh. That being said, several people also saw the boy talking to them on their TV and that was clearly an outside source. (hide spoiler)]

I will be curious to see how the author resolves these questions.

Just started this one the other day and love it so far! Only about halfway into it right now. Really curious to find out more about the characters and what events are exactly unfolding, seem to be a lot of great facets to explore. And Musty....instantly had to get up and go hug my dog!

Looking forward to being able to look at all the great spoiler comments from everyone. And agree with all of the love for these covers, they are gorgeous. So we can all encourage each other for more book hauls! :)
