I don't mind a good mind screw by a psychological horror story. They make me question my own sanity.
Hey Char! I just downloaded it and hope to join you in February. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this series
Char wrote: "Hello, Aficionados! I'm planning a read of Nightfall in February. It's the first book in a series of 6. (The final book, Lily, is due out on January 18th.) I've been..."I'm in. Seems like I joined this group at the right time and also coincidentally ended up getting KU a couple of days ago. It's all lining up!

But it's the writing, the poetry of the prose combined with the characters and observational truths that are a joy to read.
It's an exceptional series.

Char wrote: "I might have trouble waiting until February!"If I wasn't in the middle of Joe Ledger January, I would start reading it now. My heart keeps saying "Oh you can start reading just one more book, you know you want to." but then my brain looks at the number of reviews I still have to write and it is prevailing.... so far.
Char wrote: "Oooh, which Joe Ledger are you on and are you reading or listening?"Kill Switch. I was excited to see the Cthulhu, reference in the beginning and Prospero's belief in his creation reminded me very much of the plot from the movie "Village of the Damned." The original, not that awful remake! I'm only about 13% in but I'm hooked already.
I'm listening. That is really the only way to absorb a Joe Ledger novel. Ray Porter IS Joe Ledger!
I ABSOLUTELY agree! In fact, I don't even care for action/military types of reads, but Ray Porter sucked me in with these and now it's one of my favorite series'.
I have the first five paperbacks and the sixth is on preorder I’ve been meaning to start this for awhile and now is the time!
I would describe it as apocalyptical horror so far. I haven't finished the series yet. They seem to be a quick read. I'm liking it so far.

I do love a good horror book and I believe this is a good one to start a group read, as I never did that before. Please let me know how does that work and which day we should have the book completed by! :)
The read officially starts February first. Everyone can go at their own pace.As the discussion goes on, you can preface your post with where you're at in the book-for example:
Chapter 53 Then say what you want within spoiler tags. The directions on how to post a spoiler tag, is right above the box in which you type: (some html is ok)
Basically, you make an opening bracket, type spoiler and put an ending bracket. Type what you want to say. Then type an opening bracket then backslash, type spoiler and add an ending bracket.
< spoiler> type what you want to say here. < / spoiler >
Just don't have any spaces within the brackets. When you post it, it should look like this:
(view spoiler)
That way everyone knows where you're at, say... chapter 53-and then anyone who is at or past that point can click on the spoiler to read what you said. Those not up to that point yet, know not to click it yet.
I am definitely joining in on this buddy read. The book sounds pretty awesome and I am very excited to read it and discuss it. Just downloaded it on my Kindle. Looking forward to starting this in February!
I just finished this book on my Kindle today and immediately ordered the second one. I know this doesn't officially start until February but I couldn't wait and I almost read the entire book in one sitting. I thought it was great! I just started on the second book. I can't wait to see what everyone else thinks.
Amanda wrote: "I just finished this book on my Kindle today and immediately ordered the second one. If I finish it and like it, I may just read it again through Feb.
I read book 1 a few weeks ago. I never read series because I simply don't have the time to commit. However, I'm totally invested in this and read book 2 in one day this week.
I’m in, too. What a good deal and a great idea for our group:) ! Nice of the author to join us, as well! I see what you guys mean about the covers.
The stories sound spooky too. Looking forward to this.
I refrained from downloading the book until just now so I didn’t read it early 😂 can’t wait for February the cover art has the same gothic/spooky water color painting vibe as 30 days of night which is cool

LOL. But here I am..... still making myself wait! I am pretty sure once I start I am going to read all of them straight through!
Just got it on my Kindle and will start as soon as I finish my current ebook. The cover looks so good!
Feli wrote: "Just got it on my Kindle and will start as soon as I finish my current ebook. The cover looks so good!"It does, doesn’t it!
Okay, so I cheated and read most of this last night, finished this morning. I NEED to get the next book asap!
