Also, I realized that the books mentioned list is only curated by books that are linked into the posts. Not the ones we just write out. Heh.

Which dystopian books did you enjoy reading?
Also, refresh and scroll back to the top posts because they will be updated as I get feedback from others. Heh

The Hunger games
Divergent series
1984
Legend (only read the 1st book and got like a 2 month hold for the 2nd book :/ )
I'm starting The Giver tonight now that it is 2022 also.

Take a look at these series, listing 1st book:
- Red Rising
- Feed
- Rot & Ruin
- Enclave
- The Girl with All the Gifts
- The Book of Koli
- Scythe
My brain hurts from looking at the Best Dystopian and Post-Apocalyptic Fiction list. Most of those books are neither. *eyeroll*
If we're including series we kinda talked about, I'd say Laundry Files... I'd include Parasitology, but I think I'm the one who read it, and just convinced Soo to avoid it :D
Quantum Evolution, maybe?
A Peculiar Peril (I think this had it's own thread)
Didn't Brian & Soo read Extinction?
Queen's Road, maybe?

My dystopian list:
Dry
Feed (altho I shelve it more as zombie)
Symbiont (same) (also didn't enjoy)
Later Laundry Files books are getting pretty messed up
A Psalm for the Wild-Built (pretty up-beat dystopian... society has kinda reverted to a pre-technological era, tho)
Wake Me After the Apocalypse (didn't think it was good)
Blackwing (shelved as dark fantasy, for obvious reasons)
Scythe / Thunderhead / The Toll (loved this trilogy)
Mercury Striking (dystopian romance series)
Beyond Redemption (dystopian fantasy)
The Queen of All that Dies (my low number of dystopian shelved books is making this look predominantly like books I didn't like)
More Than This (weird one, Matrix-element)
The Last Hunter: Descent (another not-great one)
Wool Omnibus
The Knife of Never Letting Go (nope)
The Giver (nope)
That seems to be it, for me...
I definitely seem to prefer other niche genres, like steampunk and weird western or dieselpunk... genres it'd be nice to find more books to read in...

To answer your question, I'm not sure... Wandering Inn is such a big series, I think it needs it's own thread, even if it's just us reading it, to keep track of book/series-related comments...
I've been throwing that idea at Soo the last few days... Julian has been antsy to start and read the first 20-30 pages already... Brian was getting his hands on it still, I think?... and me and Soo are re-readers, so we were down to wait until whenever...
If you've started, feel free to discuss here, until we decide either way... me and Soo are quick to start talking Wandering Inn, when the topic arises, regardless...

For the Wandering Inn, we'll make a club thread for it. I think that'll be better. Easier way for us to keep track of what we read and chat.
I'll make the WI thread. All of my plans and stuff that I was going to get done yesterday went out the window. Rolling into the new year with stuff I should have done yesterday. Heh
I'll make the club thread for WI.

Wee~ Happy 2022!
I put 420 as my GR goal this year. Cause, 42 is the answer for life's everything. 42(0). Heh. Since the goal # is mostly a joke with myself. XD

I started the Giver last night and am already almost finished with it. The concept has been interesting but at the same time probably the most boring dystopia that I've read so far.

Great, I will start WI in a day or so:) I hope I can keep up... I am not what I was before the chemo and radiation... Takes me much longer... Sorry in advance:)

Let's see... I have my formal BR tracker set up for 2022 with Cradle, World of the Others, Locked Tomb and likely Wax & Wayne. Stuff I don't have listed there yet...
Joe Ledger #7 - Probably not a BR but I'll post thoughts here when I get to it
Witchshadow with Iain in Feb or March
Blood Heir
The Diamond Throne with Brian when we decide on a month
I'm sure there's more.

It can be basically any genre around here... but I don't really read non-fiction, so if there's interest, it'll probably be from someone else... I also don't read much horror, and have weaned myself off romances of pretty much any kind (paranormal, historical, contemporary, etc)... altho the storylines in some ongoing series lure me back in occasionally (Guild Hunter, Psy-Changeling, etc)...

I say similar things about having Covid in late 2020... not 100% sure it's true, but I dropped back down from 3x speed audiobooks to 2x speed around the same time, and haven't really tried going back up... I rewind enough sometimes, at 2x now...
Read what you can manage... we still manage to read more than most people, including in this group ;) :D

I've seen your book updates in my feed. You're a reading champ! No worries on pacing. Super happy to have you back and chatting with us. *BIG HUGS*

I just setup my sheet with BRs... I have like 5-8 in January, including some loose ones that haven't been fully scheduled yet...
3-4 in Feb / beginning of March...
And a handful the rest of the year so far... but alot of the January stuff is ongoing, with more books throughout the year... but I think I'm fully booked, between stuff I already had, stuff I signed up for, and stuff I just sought buddies for (and stuff I forgot)...
Wandering Inn #1+, Wayward Children #4-7, Cradle #1+, Lot Lands #3, Invisible Library #8, Witchlands #4, Books of Babel #4, Age of Madness #2-3, Spellslinger #0.5, Locked Tomb #3, Mistborn #4-7, Vlad Taltos #4-5+ chronological, Cormorant Strike #1+, Cork O'Connor #10+, Dresden Files #4+
I really hope I didn't forget anything else, because that's already a bunch...

-The Giver series (already about 2/3 done with book 1)
-The Life of Henrietta Lacks
-Skyward
-The Dichotomy of Leadership (already about 30% done)
-Fahrenheit 451
-Brave New World
Out of the two nonfiction books that I listed, the life of Henrietta Lacks might be an interesting read. According to my friend who recommended it to me it's about a poor woman who had her cells taken from her without her knowledge/consent and those human cells were then multiplied to where they are still being used to this day in modern medicine +60 years after her death. It goes into the science and ethics of what happened.

Created new threads for:
- Vagabond
- Wandering Inn
- LitRPG Portal
Updated 2022 Team Challenge Tracker with new thread links. At least have my first two books for 2022 on the list. Should be done with both tonight.
Updated my personal tracker and cleaned it up for 2022.
Still need to reorganize my TBR books/series lists on 2022 TC Tracker.
Gotta look over the books, comics and webnovels I read and write up my 2021 GR Review post. =D

This is the link to my post for my Comic spree:
Asian Comic/Light Novel Spree List (2021-2022)
That's like 95% of the comics/etc that I read last year. I needed to make a list. That way I know which ones to check on later to catch up.

I got it from my library. Plan to buy the audiobook when it goes back on sale on Audible. =D
#2 should be out sometime this year. Woo~

**goes back to reading Master Hunter K**

Oh and if you can find the light novel for classroom of the elite that one looks really good too! I've wanted to read that for a while now but haven't been able to find it.

https://www.lightnovelpub.com/novel/c...
I didn't read it. So, no idea of the translation quality. Light novel translations tend to be more awkward. LoL

Also I downloaded hoopla (in part indirectly thanks to lain) and I now have a way to bypass at least a few of my holds!

That's cool about Hoopla. =)
As for searching for light novels, just add web novel or novel to the title. That should get results.

I don't think I had 4+ ratings streak in the beginning of the year before. =D

Also I’ve now managed to work my way up to 1.75x speed on the audiobooks I’m listening to which has helped. I can do 2x but it starts to feel a bit rushed at that point

I've started the year week, a general continuation of 2021 :D
I'm sure some people are gonna seem superhuman, being able to carry over 2021 read a bit... but things will even out...
I upped Wandering Inn to 2.2x, might go up some more, because Parsneau was seeming slow... it's funny how you get used to fast narration, to the point where slower narrator/readers seem like they're pausing between words, when they're zooming to people not used to faster narration...
